Quick question about the Chrstmas/newyear sale. I bought Portal 1 and 2 as a bundle and as they were downloading, I had 3 items in my Steam inventory - Portal 2 gift, -33% off any game and 2 lumps of coal.

The 2 lumps of coal have gone, but I'm pretty sure the description of them was something to do with free games? Also, how did I get the Portal 2 gift? It's downloaded and installed, but I've not played it yet.

Well if you already bought portal 1 & 2, then the one in the inventory is a extra copy.

Some of it I'll hold off on certainly. Syndicate can wait, the Aliens game, things like that. But the likes of BioShock, Dishonored and Quantum Conundrum I'd pre-purchase today if I could, such weakness.

Here, here. Which is why 2012 will be very cheap for me (on PC). Got like 5 games left on my wishlist I'll pick up when they hit 75%. Darksiders 2 and Metro: Last Light which I'll get for free at launch. And all the other big name 2012 releases will wait until 2013 (unless they've bombed to 10 dollars by next Holiday). Bulk of purchases will probably be left field releases from indies (that are cheap to begin with).

EDIT: Eh, and already forgot about rFactor 2. That's getting released in beta form any day and is 40 dollars. I'll be there day 1 since it'll hold its price.

2012 will be another great year for indie titles, in my opinion, so the Steam storefront will be a great place to be.
