L~A 06-28-2017 03:03 PM

That's quite the drop for the Switch. Hurry up, Splatoon 2. Looks like there truly won't be any improvement until July 21st. Guess they really are stockpiling everything they can for now.

OfficerRaichu15 06-28-2017 03:04 PM

This is embarrassing Nintendo...

LordKano 06-28-2017 03:04 PM

So few stocks that even the PS4 managed to get ahead of Switch this week.

Zalman 06-28-2017 03:04 PM

Jeez. They really couldn't ship more?

zeromcd73 06-28-2017 03:04 PM

That Switch stock situation...

Also if I remember correctly I think Alliance Alive was predicted to do better. It had a lot of positive word of mouth helping it too.

Jarod McChicken 06-28-2017 03:05 PM

For those who missed the news, they somehow sold (shipped ?) 100.000 God Wars worldwide.

Kouriozan 06-28-2017 03:05 PM

I see, that's why Nintendo issued a public apology.
ARMS seems to hold well but we'll see in coming weeks.

Maniel 06-28-2017 03:05 PM

PS4 retaking Japan
/s
Ys VIII selling really well. I should really play through the series.

Orgen 06-28-2017 03:06 PM

Yep, not a great hold for Switch stock. Arms did slightly better though.

And 3DS YTD will get behind 2016 YTD next week. When is 2DSXL releasing?

Exterminieren 06-28-2017 03:06 PM

I don't know about the long term, but Nintendo's got to be losing some significant short term business with the Switch's stock situation.

I daresay they're doing all they can, but this is embarrassing.

KillerMan91 06-28-2017 03:06 PM

Farpoint probably has pretty insane attach rate with VR owners.
02./00. [3DS] The Legend of Legacy <RPG> (FuRyu) {2015.01.22} (6.458) - 53.974 / NEW <83,00%>
03./00. [3DS] The Alliance Alive <RPG> (FuRyu) {2017.06.22} (6.280) - 26.421 / NEW
oh well... hopefully the word of mouth of it being better game (I believe) helps it in the long run

schuelma 06-28-2017 03:06 PM

I think the next 3 weeks are going to be really bad for Switch hardware. Production clearly hasn't increased and Nintendo will hold back for Splatoon 2.

Kresnik258 06-28-2017 03:07 PM

Holy God Wars bomba, batman. Actually, it's pretty much in line with Natural Doctrine I think, haha. Why do Kadokawa bother? At least they can save the abysmal numbers with western shipment.

Also Locoroco. Also wondering why they bothered on that one. Goes to show that franchises like that weren't niche because they were on Sony's handhelds; they're niche because they're niche.

Also lower than I expected for Alliance Alive based on the early numbers we were getting, suggesting it would open higher than Caligula (it's actually ~5k below). Decent-ish result, although:

02./00. [3DS] The Legend of Legacy <RPG> (FuRyu) {2015.01.22} (6.458) - 53.974 / NEW <83,00%>

Quite the drop from this.

LordKano 06-28-2017 03:07 PM
oh well...
Tbh I wouldn't have trusted them after how bad Legend of Legacy was.

NintendosBooger 06-28-2017 03:07 PM

This is all on Kimishima.

AquaWateria 06-28-2017 03:08 PM

Lol this stock issues really sucks.

Splatoon 2 is not gonna help either.

Oh well at least ARMS has a good second week. Hopefully it continues.

Grim Patron 06-28-2017 03:08 PM

That means nearly 90k for God Wars outside Japan?

LordOcidax 06-28-2017 03:09 PM

ARMS have LEGS. NSW the calm before the storm.

Fiendcode 06-28-2017 03:09 PM

Zelda, Ys and Nier all have pretty great legs. Action RPGs are back!

Skittzo0413 06-28-2017 03:10 PM

Wow that's a huge Switch hardware dropoff. I thought we had reports of big shipments to various stores in Japan? Or was that after the 25th?

Anyway this may explain why their stock (financial stock) went down 4%. Someone is bound to ask them about this stock situation at the general meeting of shareholders.

Thatanas 06-28-2017 03:10 PM

The drop in hardware is sad for Nintendo, makes me nervous for Splatoon 2 actually.

LordRaptor 06-28-2017 03:10 PM

Definitely losing long term business.

Larger userbase earlier means more software sales and more support.

Time value of money is huge.

Any money spent on second hand market is less money spent of accessories and software.

Also potential consumers Move on, invest in something else, etc.

sinonobu 06-28-2017 03:11 PM

Sony dominating Japanese market once more!!! /s

Nintendo really needs to sort the problems

Eolz 06-28-2017 03:12 PM

Back to Switch stock issues...
Pretty good for FFXIV and Arms.
Wonder if Alliance Alive will get a localization this time.

Also, was Locoro ever popular in Japan?

Graphics Horse 06-28-2017 03:12 PM

3DS's yoy lead looking perilous. What they need is a new model with a popular RPG!

Chauzu 06-28-2017 03:13 PM

This is the first week where Switch stock situation really worries me. Can only pray that Nintendo can get their situation in order ahead of Splatoon 2.

Edit: LEGS

DecoReturns 06-28-2017 03:13 PM

They issued a apology for a reason.
LocoRocos only console entry being - publisher description not mine - an interactive screensaver can't have exactly helped widening its appeal.
I was just poking a bit of fun at the whole "everything will sell better on consoles!" rhetoric when you see games bomb on handhelds.

Locoroco - and Patapon really - have always been weird, niche concepts. It's nice to see Sony give them a bit of love after all this time, but I don't see them having much of a future.

noshten 06-28-2017 03:13 PM
The drop in hardware is sad for Nintendo, makes me nervous for Splatoon 2 actually.
If they haven't stockpiled a bunch of Splatoon 2 bundles it's going to be pretty bad.

Outside of outbidding Apple (lol) what can they do.

Mpl90 06-28-2017 03:14 PM

At this point, it's clear Nintendo is stocking up a HUGE amount of units week per week to be ready for Splatoon 2 since mid-May. Remember: they said that the situation will improve in July, starting with Splatoon 2, with further production increases in the Fall. Otherwise, they wouldn't even have bundles for both S2 and MHXX. I'm personally expecting a 100,000+ week for Splatoon 2's week, then hopefully around 40,000 as the minimum baseline.

thestopsign 06-28-2017 03:14 PM
ARMS have LEGS. NSW the calm before the storm.
I would really consider that a great drop for a Nintendo game, but hopefully low Switch stock affected it and it will have smaller drops in weeks with higher amounts of Switch on the market.

Prophane33 06-28-2017 03:14 PM

That Final Fantasy XIV bump.

Relix 06-28-2017 03:15 PM

Nintendo really needs to do something. They are losing ground that could help down the road.

jmaine_ph 06-28-2017 03:15 PM

Switch stock problems are a real thing. Damn. Nintendo has something special going with the switch right now. I hope they can get it together before people lose interest. I think the great line up this year will help.

Fdkn 06-28-2017 03:15 PM

*insert baseline shipments joke here*

Also as predicted, PS4 keeps dropping because no games /s

Judging by most people's predictions on Switch hardware for the month, most are expecting multiple 100k weeks in July... or a 200k week.

Chauzu 06-28-2017 03:15 PM

The -19% for Zelda and Mario Kart just shows how much short term software sales are getting affected by the hardware situation.

100,000 worldwide already seems solid considering its probably pretty low budget.

A small weekly increase for PS4 doesn't sound weird with some game releases? Not sure what the sarcasm is about.

cw_sasuke 06-28-2017 03:17 PM

These shortages are such a buzz kill for Switch right now.

13ruce 06-28-2017 03:17 PM

Man fuck Apple, Nintendo hit lighting in a bottle again and they ruin it:/

zelas 06-28-2017 03:17 PM

With that drop it doesn't seem like ARMS is going to be top tier franchise for Nintendo. Oh well, can't say they didn't try.
Judging by most people's predictions on Switch hardware for the month, most are expecting multiple 100k weeks in July... or a 200k week.
I'll be bold here...if the supply helps, I can see this happening. I don't see so implausbile Splatoon 2 acting similarly to New Super Mario Bros. on DS back in 2006, sales-wise, and that would translate into weeks after weeks where hardware sales stay at the 100,000 level. But, again, the supply needs to be there.

Usobuko 06-28-2017 03:18 PM
100,000 worldwide already seems solid considering its probably pretty low budget.
Western sales saving extremely niche jrpg again.
