Nintendo may be releasing another Wii redesign in the near future. The information was part of an internal release schedule from a major retailer that at this time we are unable to disclose. After combing through the details we've gleaned the following information:

Introducing the Wii Mini! Coming Dec 7 2012!
WII MINI CONSOLE
Compact Nintendo Wii Console
Comes with Sensor Bar, Nunchuk and Wii Remote Plus with Jacket.

Confirmed, thanks to FearMyWrench for the find.

Well if you don't want a Wii-U and passed on the Wii because of various reasons this could be worth it if it's priced right. $99 mini Wii with a Wiimote + packed in would be steal for gamers who haven't ever played the Wii library no matter what you think of the Wii. Plus you can pick up a lot of the older games on the cheap now.

The only reason I could see this as being a thing was if it was 75 bucks or below to appeal to severely price sensitive people. Even then the Wii can't get much smaller.

This might cause less (or more) confusion with the Wii U. People might realize the Wii U is radically different from the new wii or think the radically new looking wii mini is the real successor to the Wii looking Wii U......

Wii is not worth owning without Gamecube backwards compatibility. The last good bundle they had was the black Wii with Mario Kart as that was the last model to support it.

Money wise it wasn't a good deal as well as losing the backwards compatibility didn't lower the price of the console.

The rumour seems extremely vague to be honest. Is this website accurate at all?

And why would Nintendo create a redesign? They want to sell new Wii U consoles - not "old" Wii consoles. They want to establish a base. Why would they invest the money to design a new "old" console and then buy new parts for that new "old" console?

The rumour doesn't make much sense to be honest despite the "Youtube" channel.

If it's priced cheaply enough who cares. There are 10-20 good games to play on the Wii and if you could get one for say $99 it wouldn't be a bad proposition if you've never really played the system library at large.

Granted it needs to be priced right as others have said.

PS: Provided this is even true in the 1st place.

Why are they so obsessed with this? It's not like you're going to be taking it around with you everywhere you go, it's a home console. It's not a tablet or a phone or a laptop.

Will it still run on electricity given Nintendo's obsession to save on electricity?
Possibly, but very little. Wouldn't want to upset all the girlfriends and wives out there.

Not room to make the Wii smaller? What? It's the same size it's been since launch, it would be incredibly easy at this point to miniaturize everything in it.

Hell, take it a step further, double or quadruple the amount of memory inside it too... it likely wouldn't even cost them anything extra with the current cost of flash memory. Hell, cut out the full size SD card for added smallness.

kind of pointless after Nintendo just announced it will make no more new games for the thing

dead system ;( just get a Wii U for BC, I say. Save up just a little longer or whatever.
