Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 is confirmed.
http://www.dqm-j.com/index.php
the next million seller from SE after DQ6? |
I knew it:D
|
Sweet! never finished the first one but i liked it.
|
Come on SE, keep announcing new DS titles for FY10.
|
Is there any other clues beside the number 2 on the front page ?
|
Great news if true! Enjoyed the first one a lot and would definitely buy a sequel.
|
Come on. Let SE cast a spell on this one.
|
Great news if true! Enjoyed the first one a lot and would definitely buy a sequel.
This. |
Thought the first one was OK, fun enough as a stop-gap before other games, but I certainly wouldn't play a sequel ahead of Pokémon SoulSilver or DQIX.
Unless it's massively better. |

"I CAN CAHST A SPEHLLL!!!" |
Hrm, more DQM is yay, but I don't like Joker well enough to take another ride with him. Another main character please?
|
Yeah, hopefully they get rid of the stupider aspects to it, such as the jet ski and vending machines. I like my DQs to be a little more... traditional, I suppose. And yeah, get rid of the main character. Awful design.
|
Sweet! never finished the first one but i liked it.
Yep, same here. |
make the main character Solitaire.
|
I haven't even opened the first one yet.
|
Hell yeah! Breeding chains that span tens of generations long here I come!
|
liked the first one untill the moon and the sun dungeons which was annoying. so i stopped playing it.
hopefully tjhe second one becomes less about grining and more about adventures and other stuff. |
They'd be dumb not to do a sequel.
Also, Horii's gotta make some of his money back when DQX bombs. |
They'd be dumb not to do a sequel.
Also, Horii's gotta make some of his money back when DQX bombs.
I expected anther DQ Monsters game, but not a Joker Sequel. |
They'd be dumb not to do a sequel.
Also, Horii's gotta make some of his money back when DQX bombs.
The likelihood of DQX bombing is likely a negative value. |
I expected anther DQ Monsters game, but not a Joker Sequel.
Joker itself did 1.4 million. I wouldn't know if the game had any negative buzz from players in Japan, but it's probably a safer bet to follow it up rather than do an unrelated Monsters title. Besides, DQX is years away and what other million sellers do Square Enix have in Japan other than DQVIr in between then? Versus XIII? Please. |
But I wanted Slime Mori Mori 3 with a better adventure and Wi-Fi Tank Battles. :(
|
^
So did I, man. So did I. |
Are we sure that 2 hasn't been there for a while?
|
But I wanted Slime Mori Mori 3 with a better adventure and Wi-Fi Tank Battles. :(
same here :( |
But I wanted Slime Mori Mori 3 with a better adventure and Wi-Fi Tank Battles. :(
Ehn, Level 5 working on a sequel to DQMJ probably wouldn't interfere with TOSE doing another Slime Morimori if Enix wanted it to happen. |
Great, I've been waiting for this to be announced. I played the heck out of the 1st.
|
I kinda want a sequel to Swords, but done as an action RPG version of WSR's Swordplay Showdown.
|
Ehn, Level 5 working on a sequel to DQMJ probably wouldn't interfere with TOSE doing another Slime Morimori if Enix wanted it to happen.
Uh? TOSE made DQMJ, not L5 |
Ehn, Level 5 working on a sequel to DQMJ probably wouldn't interfere with TOSE doing another Slime Morimori if Enix wanted it to happen.
Level-5 didn't make DQMJ, but yeah, it'd be different teams making those two anyway, I'm guessing. Rocket Slime didn't exactly fly off the shelves tho, even in Japan, right? |
hahaha god I don't know where my brain is.
Ah well, point still stands. If Enix wanted both, we'd have both. Morimori 2 did indeed underperform in Japan. 300k isn't anything to sneeze at, though. I'm sure the series will get picked up again at some point. |
But I wanted Slime Mori Mori 3 with a better adventure and Wi-Fi Tank Battles. :(
I do too. Come on SE, do it. Do it! |
I checked Morimori's numbers... it only sold 350k. I guess it's hard to say if Rocket Slime let them down without knowing their expectations.
|
I'm excited by this new!
Excitement! Yay! |
Am I missing something? All I see is a site for the first DQMJ that hasn't been updated in several years.
|
I've been wondering whem it would show up. Horii talked about a sequel way back before DQ4 came out.
|
Am I missing something? All I see is a site for the first DQMJ that hasn't been updated in several years.
Same here?? I don't get it. Sorry if it's too obvious or something. |

The 2 doesn't show up for me either, but http://i48.************/25hiveh.jpg |
same here :(

The 2 doesn't show up for me either, but http://i48.************/25hiveh.jpg
Ahh, thanks for the pic. Weird I can't see it (neither with Firefox/IE) |
They removed it.
They'd be dumb not to do a sequel.

DQM Joker 2 for DS
the scan is out |
DQM Joker 2 for DS
the scan is out
Oh, so it is real. Nice, I guess. I was pretty disappointent with the first DS Monsters, though. I hope they fix some of the issues I had with it. |
I invested around 60 hours in Joker, not the most remarkable of the Dragon Quest games but it was a fairly enjoyable distraction. I'll grab the sequel.
Add me to the list of people pining for a sequel to Rocket Slime. |
Awesome. I enjoyed the first game.
|
Enjoyed the first. Hope the overworld is more open, like DQ8, but that may be going against current trend.
|
Almost surprised that it is announced so late.
|

The DS's last hurrah? |
DQM Joker 2 for DS
the scan is out
What else is in famitsu this week? |
Hey, no more punky hero. Thumbs up. Looks like the menus have a nicer design, too. Didn't care for all of the pinstripes in the first one.
Also, real-time wi-fi battles this time? Very, very nice. |
PIPE DOWN WILL YA I DONT THINK A SPELL'S GOING TO WORK ON THIS ONE!!!!!
|
S-E's last hurrah on the DS?
Fixed, and I think it's likely. |
Given that they're calling it DQMJ2, I wonder if the Incarnus will show up again...
|
I hope the game still remains turn-based. If so, I am all over it when it (if) hits NA.
|
I think the actual real fights over WFC (like Pokemon) will make me go ahead and get this. I was really sad to find that DQMJ didn't have that feature. Glad to see it's in this one.
I hope the game still remains turn-based. If so, I am all over it when it (if) hits NA.
It is. |
It is.
Ok, thanks. I can't access the link, blocked at work. |
Where is my Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime sequel? >:(
I still have the first Joker sealed :P
|
Hellz Yeah!
|
Where is my Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime sequel? >:(
Seconded!
|
Fixed, and I think it's likely.
Nah, they'll announce FF Vr. You'll see. |
Joker itself did 1.4 million. I wouldn't know if the game had any negative buzz from players in Japan, but it's probably a safer bet to follow it up rather than do an unrelated Monsters title.
Ehh. Joker is the fourth unrelated DQM title and has sold the third most, so I don't think a direct sequel is an obvious guess. |
YES!
The first one was a great experience. |
Win! Now we also need a US release...
...and also a confirmation for Rocket Slime 2! |
Nah, they'll announce FF Vr. You'll see.
As unlikely as I think it is at this point, they could. I don't think it would sell as well as FFIV though, much less FFIII, so this will be the last million seller for S-E on the DS. |
I hated the first one so hopefully they fix all the problems that it had.
|
They might as well wait until DS2 for FFV and VI.
|
As unlikely as I think it is at this point, they could. I don't think it would sell as well as FFIV though so this will be the last million seller for S-E on the DS.
On that I agree. By the way, how many million sellers did SE have on the DS? |
They'd be dumb not to do a sequel.

Five so far. Dragon Quest IX Dragon Quest V Dragon Quest IV Dragon Quest Monster: Joker Final Fantasy III This is just in Japan, not sure about WW totals. |
I'd like to put in another vote for a new Rocket Slime/Slime Mori Mori. Brilliant game.
|
Why are some of you so quick to dub this Square-Enix's last hurrah on for the DS?
|
Why are some of you so quick to dub this Square-Enix's last hurrah on for the DS?
this. square enix has generated the most money on the ds this gen. why would they abandon their main source of profit.. |
Why are some of you so quick to dub this Square-Enix's last hurrah on for the DS?
Including this, they only have 3 games announced for the DS to my knowledge (for this year): Dragon Quest VI, Lufia 2 Remake, and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It seems like most of their support has switched over to the PSP and the consoles. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a bunch more announcements coming for the DS, but for now, there isn't much. |
Five so far.
Dragon Quest IX Dragon Quest V Dragon Quest IV Dragon Quest Monster: Joker Final Fantasy III This is just in Japan, not sure about WW totals.
I'm pretty certain that Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days broke 1 million WW, and I'm guessing that Final Fantasy XII RW came close. They just decided that PSP was ideal for certain games, I reckon. |
I remember playing for 15 hours in the first only to accidently delete that file and never picked it up again.

Was that not long enough to finish it? |

It probably wouldn't sell a million in Japan, but I'm sure it would worldwide. I think it would probably do around the same numbers as IV, though. It's been longer since V Advance compared to the gap between the two releases of IV on Nintendo handhelds.
what about Final Fantasy IV...not so much?
It did about 900,000 between the US and Japan (based on last known LTDs), and I'm sure it must have sold enough in Europe to put it over a million. |
Semi-off topic, but I bought the first one for cheap but only played it for like 40 minutes. I turned it off mostly because I thought the capture system and by extension the battle system was almost completely random, thus lacking any depth. Was that first impression wrong or is that a generally accepted weakness of the game?
|
What do you mean when you say you found the battle system random? I don't understand why you'd feel that, unless you've never played a turn-based game before.
|
Semi-off topic, but I bought the first one for cheap but only played it for like 40 minutes. Huh? It isn't random in the slightest. It's very easy to figure out how it works When you try and "Capture" a monster, your party does an "attack" on the monster that fills up a meter. The higher the meter, the more likely the success is. The stronger your monsters, the more the "attack" does. And yes, tension does effect this as well. |

It's all about the monsters, the depth comes from breeding your monsters to get higher ranked ones and better stats and skills. And then choosing what monsters to have on your team to beat the bosses. A lot of the play for me was working out a team/strategy to take on the wifi teams. Here's a decent FAQ that gives you an idea of the depth of what's involved in doing that: http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/933956/52164 |
the main character seriously reminds me of the blue dragon protagonist (shu was it..)
|
.
|
I didn't expect it to be so soon.
|
It should be noted the press release also confirms it will support wireless and wifi online play, and it mentions that battles with other players are in real time. Whatever that means. The press release also notes that the game will only have a single save slot, and that while it supports 8 players multiplayer everyone will need their own cart to play, etc.
|
1-8 players? o_O
|
Golden Weekaton.
1-8 players? o_O
It has real wireless battles, like Pokemon, now. In DQMJ1, all you did was upload your team, and then you'd be able to download another player's team, and you'd fight it controlled by the CPU. |

I heavily dislike RPG that go single save on DS. |
What else is in famitsu this week?
This is my question. |
This is my question.
I saw scans for Rooms (Wii/DS adventure game), Monster Hunter Frontier Online 360, Star Ocean 4 International, REGINLEV, Splinter Cell Conviction, Shadow Tower, Yakuza 4, God Eater, Hack//Link, and Etrian Odyssey 3. I never saw the ToC, though. |
I'm not really interested. But I agree with those saying they'd be totally down with a new Slime game.
|
Tank battle where addictive. Some of the best moments I've had on the DS were tank battles. I'd love wireless/wifi tank battles.
|
good news i guess ? first one is on my backlog
|
I'm not really interested. But I agree with those saying they'd be totally down with a new Slime game.
I never really played more than an hour or two of Joker. What makes a DQM game different from a mainline DQ game? |

Its Pokemon* *Yes I know about DQV but this example is more apt. |
