I would hate to see a Xenosaga where story wasn't as prominent. That's like making Star Trek not in space.
Meanwhile, I am concerned about that fast approaching Lightening deal...the particular bundle is #6 on the bestsellers poll, but that kinda thing might unseat Monado/Xenoblade... |
...Oh shit.

Remember before this all got going the game did not even exist from a sales/market standpoint. |
I really, really hope that happens. For serious. *knocks on wood*
But it's always the worst to see it get dethroned from #1. |

It's not like they're going to push Monado out of the top ten or anything. As long as it's there. Also, Xenoblade is still pretty story heavy, despite it's focus on gameplay. |
Meanwhile, I am concerned about that fast approaching Lightening deal...the particular bundle is #6 on the bestsellers poll, but that kinda thing might unseat Monado/Xenoblade...
I think this is the third, fourth or fifth time in the last two weeks that that Xbox bundle has been offered with a $100 credit somewhere, even on Amazon already.
I'm not saying it won't jump up again.. but everybody has had a few chances to grab it at that price very recently. |
^^^Well, I hope it manages to stablize itself very soon if it does get affected by that.
Also, interesting new development on the Japanese front. It might be unrelated, but still worth bringing up. Xenoblade's in the 40's again, but now Fatal Frame IV has suddenly appeared on the list as well. http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/movers-and-shakers/videogames/ref=zg_bs_tab#4 |
Lol, @NintendoAmerica is now tweeting as usual:

The former. Just funny that they have thousand of comments, several news stories, etc. and all they do is say "we hear ya!" and then get back to business as usual. Not that I'm surprised or think it's wrong, just funny. |

Probably along the lines of something like: "We understand fan enthusiasm and will be looking into this down the line. Don't forget that the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is poised for release this holiday."
Keep on trucking Nintendo, you're drawing a very fine line between your would-be supporters for Wii-U, and alienating a lot of supporters. |

Now that's crossing the line. |
Disaster Day of Crisis and Fatal Frame IV are what I want the most.

|
Nintendo=Activision?
You heartless heartless person. |
Just to remind everyone, the response will sound like this:
"You know, it's great, and I mean really fantastic, that our customers are vocal about letting us know about the games they want to play, be it on Nintendo 3DS with Stereoscopic Glasses Free 3D, or on Nintendo Wii with Motion Plus technology. Right now, we have what I think is a solid 3rd and 4th quarter 2011 line-up. We're hitting our marks. For our fans who are looking for a deep and rewarding adventure experience, we recommend they check out The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, releasing this fall for Nintendo Wii with Motion Plus Technology. I guarantee Motion Plus technology brings new things to The Legend of Zelda that you've never seen. What we showed at this past E3 was just taste of what's in store for fans this fall, in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Nintendo Wii with Motion Plus technology."
So let's not get too excited =( |
Disaster Day of Crisis and Fatal Frame IV are what I want the most.
Cant really blame Nintendo for Fatal Frame 4. Thats a whole other mess. |
It'll be something along the line of "We respect the gamers who support us and will continue to ensure that the library of games available to them remains strong." While changing nothing.

NOA to respond?
My Homebrew is Ready! |
I can see it now: a future where Xenoblade is released in NA as a test, performs well above expectations. Nintendo goes on to release The Last Story (penned with "from the creator of the beloved Final Fantasy franchise") and Pandora's Tower to equal success. Monolith Soft becomes a heavy hitter in the Nintendo house of publishers, with new projects being announced for the WiiU in Japan, Europe and NA.

Just import at this point.
US Wii. Not in the mood for buying a whole 'nother console for 2 games. |
My biggest problem with Nintendo was introducing games like Trace Memory and Hotel Dusk and then killing the series in North America by not releasing the sequels. Why did they bring them here in the first place? I guess it may have been experimentation, or games that might have fit into their touch generations line.
US Wii. Not in the mood for buying a whole 'nother console for 2 games.
Getting homebrew really isn't that hard. Easier than PSP anyway. Not as simple as iOS, but I've been much less successful with that. |

You don't have to buy another console. Just mod your Wii. I did it last week. It's painless and quick. |

They just needed titles to fill the DS library early on. Once the platform was establsihed and higher-selling franchises were discovered, they were of no use. |

Enabling Homebrew on your Wii is extremely easy and rewarding. Brawl mods alone make it worth it. |
Enabling Homebrew on your Wii is extremely easy and rewarding. Brawl mods alone make it worth it.
I recall reading a post around here where someone said it was almost a crime to have an unmodded Wii. Given how easy and risk free it is, I'd be inclined to agree. |
don't you need to update the homebrew whenever Nintendo changes the firmware? Too much hassle for me. I'd rather just buy a pal wii and not worry about it.
|
don't you need to update the homebrew whenever Nintendo changes the firmware? Too much hassle for me. I'd rather just buy a pal wii and not worry about it.
I think you can avoid updating the normal firmware from Nintendo. I'm still on 3.something. Then again, I now play all of my games off of an external HDD, which I figure bypasses the updates on discs. Not that there's a reason to..haven't all of their releases of their firmware in the last year just been to combat homebrew? |
"We're delighted to see such commitment with our products. Stay tuned for more news soon."
Maybe the update they told us to look forward to was their PR announcement this morning regarding the VANS WARPED TOUR. http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=29468 :lol |
don't you need to update the homebrew whenever Nintendo changes the firmware? Too much hassle for me. I'd rather just buy a pal wii and not worry about it.
Nintendo hasn't updated the firmware in ages, for one, and it's automatic process nowadays to update the Homebrew Channel for another. Literally, if you can update your Wii's firmware, you can easily update the Homebrew channel too. There's absolutely no extra hassle. |
Enabling Homebrew on your Wii is extremely easy and rewarding. Brawl mods alone make it worth it.
Not worth the risk of bricking it and not enough reason to outside of aforementioned imports.
|
don't you need to update the homebrew whenever Nintendo changes the firmware? Too much hassle for me. I'd rather just buy a pal wii and not worry about it.
Since when has updating the firmware on the Wii actually had substantial changes? Aside from the SD Card menu they added, most firmware revisions are just designed to block Homebrew. Besides, you can bypass forced on disc updates with Homebrew. You will get far more value out of your Wii with Homebrew, and none of it needs to include piracy. |
Now honestly, what is more likely?
1. Xenoblade comes out, is a test to see how well Monolithsoft games do in America. If it sells well, they'll do something like Soma Bringer or Disaster maybe and use the "made by the makers of Xenoblade" 2. Xenoblade comes out, is a test for two other IPs not even made by the same studio that just happen to share the facts that they're Japanese, they have RPG elements if not RPGs altogether, and have been released recently. 3. All of the above. I'd like to see 3 work, but if they honestly bring up "tests" and words like that, I will assume they're shooting for something along the lines of 2, since those would end up being easier sells if Xenoblade does well. I still really want TLS and Pandora a lot, though. Don't worry about that. |
Not worth the risk of bricking it and not enough reason to outside of aforementioned imports.
There's no risk of bricking it if you follow the instructions. It's a simple matter of sticking the files on your SD card, loading them in Smash Bros/Wii menu, and letting the process go. |
Not worth the risk of bricking it and not enough reason to outside of aforementioned imports.
You know, I thought my Wii bricked from home brew last night. Turned out my cats had just unplugged the video cables from my TV. Stupid cats. And the whole "bricking" thing is really something that is overblown. As long as you wait to update your system, you're not going to get bricked. |

Since there's some homebrew talk going on I have the quick question. If you're just using it for region-free stuff.. do they disc games still show up in your data? Like, would it show up on your calender and play time records as "Xenoblade Chronicles" still? I know it's a goofy thing, but I like having those records to look over from time to time.
|

Nintendo will never release these games they are too hardcore and don't drive enough profit for them to even look at releasing them.
It's the same with Namco Bandai with the Tales of games. |
speaking of the power going out I was scared I bricked my Wii a few times from hitting wrong buttons the screen would go black and the LED Blue light started blinking on and off on the slot I just unplugged and then tried again... If I did not brick my Wii the many times I messed up I'm sure Homebrew is really safe these days.

I don't think it does. Last time I used Gecko OS was for New Super Mario Bros Wii, and I don't recall it appearing on the menu. There are other options that I'm sure would make them appear on the menu, however. |
