I am very curious to see how the Time Trials work.

I saw them advertise you can race with up to 7 other ghosts...

....does that mean I need to walk by 7 people who have the game? Also, when I walk by someone, am I getting all of their ghosts or just one? This whole thing seems like it'd be a lot easier using the online capabilities....

Anyhoo I'll be here on Sunday to race you guys.

From what I gather it's not a "ghost race" in the sense that you're racing against a recorded playback but a race against player AI that supposedly mimics the actions of the person you StreetPassed, based on their player data.

My god did that send me back to my childhood. I already knew the track was in the game, which caused me to go pay off my pre-order the next day. But actually being able to hear the music took my nostalgia to the next level. I'm going to play the hell out of this track once I unlock it.

I somehow missed out on buying MKDS and MKWii, so I'm fucking hyped about a new Mario Kart. And going by all the revealed information, I picked the perfect time to jump back in. I wish there were less DS and Wii tracks in the Retro Cups, but it also means that even more courses will be new to me.

I'm not worried about the track quality. They just won't create the same nostalgia feeling I'll get from the tracks I do remember. It's totally my fault for not getting the previous two games, so it's not really a complaint. Besides, Mario Kart: Super Circuit is one of the Ambassador games. It's not wingless...

It has wings. It flies. It zoomes along the track close enough to the ground that it hits people on the way to the front. At the front it swoops up and then crashes into the lead kart, making an explosion that'll take out nearby people as well.

That's how it works.

On Mario Circuit 2, i hope it retains the feeling of using a mushroom before the final jump! Loved the feeling on the original where you could swing a skid out in mid-air to steal first place! Rosalina isn't made of stars, but she's magical. In the in-game story, she is a girl who got lost in outer space, found the little star guys, and felt responsible for them so became their "mother". She apparently gained magical powers and became a magical being. As a result, she's very tall; bigger than the other humanlike Mario cast.

So I suppose they were thinking more in terms of her scale than literal body weight. She's a "big" character.

Codeblue 11-28-2011 02:37 AM
Makes sense in the Mario mythos. Isn't she made of stars, which are super dense anyways.

I'm probably thinking about this too much.
I think you're right actually. That makes sense.

GeekyDad 11-28-2011 02:39 AM
Rosalina isn't made of stars, but she's magical. In the in-game story, she is a girl who got lost in outer space, found the little star guys, and felt responsible for them so became their "mother". She apparently gained magical powers and became a magical being. As a result, she's very tall; bigger than the other humanlike Mario cast.

So I suppose they were thinking more in terms of her scale than literal body weight. She's a "big" character.
You've obviously thought this whole thing through.

Maybe... :]
You can set a logo (pre made ones only), enter a name and description, choose between racing (50, 100, 150CC or Mirror) or the two battle modes and which items are available when racing (All, Shells, Bananas, Mushrooms, Bob-Ombs, None). No individual toggling for each item.

The communities are really more like rooms.

You join a community pre race lobby and can send out pre fabricated messages like the types of "OK!" or "LET'S RACE!". Noone is in charge of the community/room it seems, and I'm guessing the first one to join an empty one is made the operator (handing it down to the next one when he/she leaves).

Avatars are the peoples Miis, but you can race with the Mario gang. When you find people online it looks pretty much like on the Wii, with the globe and everything.

Also, I'd like to retract my previous Red Shell message. They do indeed follow the track around like in MKDD etc. when you fire it blindly.
Thanks for all the impressions and videos Fox. Maybe it has been answered but I didn't see it: Can you change the rules in communities after you have established them? I guess you register communities once and then can re-connect using the GUI? Is there a limit to how many communities may be stored if it is indeed the case?

Man after I buy this game I will have given Nintendo a ton of money in a 4 week span starting with 3D Land, then Zelda, then this.

Haha yea, no doubt. I can't even remember the last time I've bought that many games in one period of time.

But in the meantime, i'm going to flunk out of college

Nintendo's systems have been know for their droughts over the last few generations but when it rains with them, it pours.

Excited for this, even though all the new characters are lame and the option to individually exclude blue shells would have been amazing.

Does anyone know if MK gets AA if you turn 3D off? I really like it when games have that option. I played Zelda and Mercenaries in 3D probably 90% of the time but if I was in a moving vehicle or playing while I was watching TV or something and wanted to turn it off having AA is really nice.

Mario 3D Land looks pretty great but it's pretty jaggy, I would have loved to have seen that game smoothed out.

No rule changing after it's made. Not sure if there is a limit, but I doubt it.

I would have loved for that in M3DL. It's a beautiful game, and AA would have been a fantastic bonus.

I'm pretty sure MK7 is the same. All of the 2d videos and screenshots show jaggies :(
