I've gone back to playing MK Wii a bit and it's amazingly refreshing how much more it rewards good driving. Blue shells are still problematic of course, but you're able to build substantial leads through skill so it's not nearly as bad.

Oh I dunno, being in first usualy allows you to get away from everyone. Being in 2nd and 3rd leaves you more likely to get item'd to death since you would presumably be closer to the main pack.

I guess it depends on the course, but if you fall off a cliff due to a blue shell no matter what the lead is you are still in a pretty bad position.

Well sure but I think falling off a cliff in general pretty much screws you, and just about any item can cause that to happen. I just don't feel that blue shells are enough of a deterrent to make me think that trying to avoid the lead until late is a good idea. In my eyes, being in first basically allows you to avoid a significant portion of attack items, so being vulnerable to a blue shell isnt a bad tradeoff. Particularly now when they appear less often, and generally hit a few other racers on the way up, they are not totally crippling.

Thats just my experience though, I've been screwed over a lot more by items other than the blue shell, so its not my biggest worry.

Have people found ways to hack yet? I think I just ran into one. His name is Luis and he was able to constantly accelerate at will. Blue shells did not have an effect on him and he had a ludicrous amount of points. Also he seems to warp to the front of the pack at the end of races.

Like his top speed is constantly faster than everyone else's. Someone will have a huge lead on him and he is able to clear the gap very quickly without the use of items.

Yeah, probably just lag then. The netcode in this game is crap and if someone is lagging it can look like some pretty crazy stuff is going on.

After I play the ghost 8-player races from the mario kart channel they appear to disappear. Where do they go? Can I race them again?

Time trial mode in single player. I think the 7 chosen are close to your record or maybe they're simply the new ones, but it actually stores a lot more. If you choose the '7' opponent, it will give you a random 7 close to your new time. It might not be able to give you the exact same 7 together again, but I don't think that's what you were asking :)

I don't see a 7 opponent, just an option to pick my own ghost or one of the other ghosts from online ranking. Does this unlock after completing mirror mode?

I don't remember it unlocking but maybe it did... Ghost Data x 7 should be top of the list after 'None'.

Go to the Mario Kart Channel and select your Mii. It gives you a bunch of stats like coins collected.

For anyone else who is picking it up, Amazon's "very good" and "Like new" are usually new copies 80% of the time. I've dealt with them a lot. I'm pretty sure is just returns that are unopen.

Don't remember this time specifically but it's been happening more and more. You can't even tell if they're from GAF or not since Nintendo thought it would be a great idea to let friends and recent opponents join your community races.

I can't really blame the players doing it. It's Nintendo's fault the glitch exists and Nintendo's laziness means it will never be fixed. If their arrogance is going to keep them from building in patching functionality to a game that is likely going to sell well for the next 3-4 years, the least they could have done was properly playtest it.
