Nah, just Relius. But hey, Squirrel Girl, Wolfman, and Magical Girl are new if you didn't buy the CSII DLC, lol.

Q&A:
Q: Is there connectivity between the Vita and PS3 versions?
A: Yes, you can share your save data progress between them.

Q: Awesome? So can I play PS3 vs. Vita in online cross-platform battles too?
A: No.

Q: That kinda sucks.
A: I know.

Q: Is this compatible in online versus with 2010's mega smash-hit BlazBlue Continuum Shift?
A: No.

Q: That really sucks.
A: I know.

Q:I am one of those people who play fighting games for single player content. What's in it for me?
Well, If you played CT and CS, the only new story mode content is for Makoto, Valkenhayn, Platinum and Relius. The original CT and CS story modes are included for the rest of the cast.
Additionally there are new-to-console vs. CPU modes, such as Unlimited Mars mode if you like a challenge.

Q: What else is new?
For those interested in versus play, there is a complete roster reabalancing that brings this version parity to the current Japanese Arcade game. Additionally there is a new-to-console team battle mode.

Nifty save data transfer feature for Vita. Won't be picking it up for launch but maybe down the line.

Ties 02-08-2012 02:13 AM

Once they announce Kokonoe as DLC I'm picking this up.

MichaelEM3 02-08-2012 02:14 AM

I skipped out on Continuum Shift so I'm looking forward to picking this up (if not at launch, soon after). Nice OT, _dementia.

SolarKnight 02-08-2012 02:16 AM

Damn, this is coming out soon already? I'd try to get it as close to day 1 as possible, but I'm short on money right now and I kinda doubt I'd be allowed to trade in CS since it's kinda scratched :/

Ken Masters 02-08-2012 02:16 AM

I could see myself getting the Vita version when it hits the bargain bin

Master Milk 02-08-2012 02:20 AM

There isn't enough Platinum in the OP!

Doesn't matter! I'm gonna kick every butt I see in this game!

SolarPowered 02-08-2012 02:20 AM

Day one for me. Bang is just perfect looking here and Relius does look pretty baller in motion.

AAK 02-08-2012 02:21 AM

Will wait until Jubei finally comes out. Till then, it's going to be SFxT, KOF13, T6, and NG3 to keep me busy :)

cj_iwakura 02-08-2012 02:23 AM

Relius' theme is pretty great.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD5DmAZk37s

I'll be there day 1.

Tobe 02-08-2012 02:24 AM

Finally gonna learn that platinum. Why is the us cover for the LE ass? ugh

SUPARSTARX 02-08-2012 02:24 AM

Is this going to be the final version? haha

My last copy was Calamity Trigger.

Ties 02-08-2012 02:25 AM

Man, this is the thing I really love about Blazblue. Every single theme in the game is fantastic; really adds to the intensity of the matches.

cj_iwakura 02-08-2012 02:26 AM
Is this going to be the final version? haha

Of CS? Yes. The next game will be the third in the series(and presumably will end it).
SAYAAA!
ZealousD 02-08-2012 02:27 AM

I'm still really bitter about this release. Big slap in the face to everybody who bought all the character DLC for Continuum Shift.
I'm still really bitter about this release. Big slap in the face to everybody who bought all the character DLC for Continuum Shift.
They did rebalance everything and add new story modes.

I'm not too happy myself, but I got my money's worth out of CS and then some.
I don't mind supporting my favorite fighting game ever with another purchase.

Ties 02-08-2012 02:32 AM
Of CS? Yes. The next game will be the third in the series(and presumably will end it).
SAYAAA!

Whoa. That was fast.
Hopefully they start up Guilty Gear again, eh? Would kill for more playable females in this game, would love if Saya or Nine played like I-no.
I'm still really bitter about this release. Big slap in the face to everybody who bought all the character DLC for Continuum Shift.
To be fair they did rebalance the whole game, but I feel like adding just one character to the already small roster is a bit of a ripoff, yes.

ZealousD 02-08-2012 02:34 AM
They did rebalance everything and add new story modes.
Rebalancing is the kind of thing they should be doing for free (and weren't we suppose to get a rebalance patch for OG Continuum Shift?), and new story modes plus one new character is hardly worth plopping down another $40 unless you're a fanatic.

SolarPowered 02-08-2012 02:37 AM
Finally gonna learn that platinum. Why is the us cover for the LE ass? ugh
It's better than Vanilla Mahvel 3's boxart. :P
Is this going to be the final version? haha

My last copy was Calamity Trigger.
Definitely not. There will be a BlazBlue 3 that ties everything together, but Extend will be the best game yet and a fantastic buy for anyone who skipped out on the CS series until now.

We did get a balance patch for CS, it was free. I imagine if you weren't a fanatic you wouldn't have bought the DLC characters to begin with, so for a lot of people this is probably 4 new characters.

SolarKnight 02-08-2012 02:39 AM
(and weren't we suppose to get a rebalance patch for OG Continuum Shift?)
It's called Continuum Shift II, and that came out quite a long time ago. Honestly, it's a miracle we got that for free (unless you're a handheld gamer).

jbueno 02-08-2012 02:41 AM

Skipped Continum Shift I for this. Looking forward to it, even though KOF XIII gets most of my fighting game playtime.

The Broken Ska Record 02-08-2012 02:42 AM

Once again, I'm going to get BB only to get bored of it a few weeks later. At least this game has all of the characters available from the get go.

kayos90 02-08-2012 02:44 AM

I love the songs from BB. So good.

zerokoolpsx 02-08-2012 02:47 AM

Man, I really regret buying squirrel girl and Valk. Now they're free. Yea, I'm never buying DLC characters again. On the fence if I'm going to get this or not. I don't really see the investment worth it since I have CT and CS.

Leshita 02-08-2012 02:50 AM

Sold my BBCS2 a couple of months ago, already preordered the LE for this. :)
This is the only fighting game where I have friend(s) that play extensively (he is not into SF or any other series), so I must get it. I will likely get CS2 back later on if I find a super cheap copy just to finish off the trophies and to play the old version before the changes.

Brobzoid 02-08-2012 02:56 AM

never played any BB before. Will buy this one.

Can anyone give me an impression of Λ-11? Like, what kind of character or play-style from other fighting games can he/she be compared to? Difficult to play for a new player? I haven't played an arc game since GGX (played Chipp).

SolarKnight 02-08-2012 02:58 AM

I guess she'd be kind of a zoner?

cj_iwakura 02-08-2012 02:58 AM

Uh... shoot. Blaz characters are wildly original for the most part.

Lots of long range attacks, which pretty much pin you down at long range. She's worthless up close, in comparison(but don't underestimate her).

But yeah, zoning. Tsubaki's my main. (That rushdown BNB.)

voodoopanda 02-08-2012 03:00 AM

Interested in this since I only got the original CT and this has all the story stuff for CS in it. I imagine this is most likely the last version for this part of the storyline, right? Picking it up for the combined added content of CS/CSII/Extend makes this an easier buy for me.

Reknoc 02-08-2012 03:01 AM

The European release date is 22nd, not 14th.

Kokonoe 02-08-2012 03:04 AM

Day 1 for me, I just wish they would make a PC version of Extend.

Kuran 02-08-2012 03:05 AM

Will there be a demo for the Vita version?

SolarKnight 02-08-2012 03:05 AM

Btw, how has Tao changed? Does she still have her loop from CSII (2D~A loop IIRC)?

matmanx1 02-08-2012 03:09 AM

Getting this on the 15th when I pick up my Vita. It will be the first BlazBlue I've played since the original so I'm pretty excited. And I know it's going to be gorgeous on that OLED!

To Far Away Times 02-08-2012 03:10 AM

On the fence on this one. I played over a thousand online matches in CT, and probably close to another thousand in local multiplayer and then I got burned out. Bought CS and barely played it. Hmm...

h3ro 02-08-2012 03:13 AM

I still need to start story mode in CS. I was one or two online cheevos from S-ranking CT, but just didn't have time to sink into CS nor did I get any of the new characters.

I'll be picking this up some day. Love me some BureiBroo.

Cheers, should be a good change of pace considering I usually go for rush down/mix up characters.

:(

FHIZ 02-08-2012 03:28 AM

Can't do this a third time. If the first BB was 60, the second was 40, I cant see how this one can be justified as 40 again. I may get it when it's price dropped, but lord knows, there will probably be another with one new character before then.

Mori said he's going to make a new one this year (for arcade). Probably worth it since you skipped CS, but expect the console port of BlazBlue 3 in 2013.

OP updated with correct Euro release date.

Phat Michael 02-08-2012 03:41 AM

I got this a few days ago and it looks very good.Really nice animations and graphics. The only problem with mine is a LOT of the menu's and all the special moves are in japanese.

Also, i am quite unfamiliar with BB in terms of the fighting system. I got this and UMVC3 at the same time but ive put in a good three hours with it. The last boss is difficult.

SolarPowered 02-08-2012 03:41 AM

Yeah, I saw the Darkstalkers comparison gifs on the first page of the Vita thread. I have to admit that it is one of the coolest features after seeing that. BlazBlue should look amazing.

...

Now I'm wondering how good Skullgirls would look on an OLED...

From what I saw of Hazama, it's the old VA for the most part, with the new lines done by the new VAs.

In before lol story in fighting games, but CS has a really good plot, and an excellent finale.

Vans 02-08-2012 03:46 AM

Might pick this up. I stopped playing Blazblue since the CS2 update came out.

The delay between arcade-console kinda lowers my interest though, it always feels like I'll end up playing the older version at the time due to the arcade -> console release gap.

Is it worth picking up Calamity Trigger first for story continuity or should I start with BlazBlue here due to Tutorial mode?
Also, is Malibu Stacy a playable character? I want to use that new hat.

Me too. The things is though, that I love it. I'm putting so much time into Wipeout now, that I haven't played for a while. I played through a few of the tutorial chapters and had an online match.

I sure am. I'm hyped like a freak on candy.

Got that LE for $40 when Amazon had that deal.
Ready to go in finally.

Blazblue is the one fighting game I wish I could get into but can't. Feels like it has such a high learning barrier/curve.

Sagitario 02-08-2012 06:54 AM

Any shortcomings for the Vita version?
Like statics backgrounds, bad sprite downscaling, etc.?

Mognet 02-08-2012 07:12 AM

I got the Vita version preordered... I wont be playing it until the end of Febuary unfortunately. ):

I'm hoping to learn a character who isn't Hazama this time (who am I kidding? I can't stay away from him).

danmaku 02-08-2012 07:47 AM

Already bought this, waiting for PAL release to find someone online... but I still think that this version should've been DLC. Now we'll have a smaller online community and fewer people at offline meetings because Arcsys wants to milk the franchise like crazy.

I don't actually like preordering on Amazon personally because most games I would like to preorder don't have release day deliveries.

It does, and I haven't even made it half way across the barrier (I can't do Noel's damaging BnBs for the life of me). lmao

I still love this series though for the characters, story, beautiful graphics, and scrubbing out with some peeps online.

It's far more important to learn how to actually be dynamic and creative in a fight, which takes constant effort and introspection. It's counter-intuitive but I think that part is more fun, anyway.

I never played story mode, either. I never even bother to clear the arcade mode in previous games, I did it in CSE for the first time because I couldn't play online. And holy shit it was boring. Playing against the CPU has the same appeal as playing against bots in Team Fortress 2 or Unreal Tournament. Needless to say, I fucking hate when you have to unlock characters by playing single player modes (vanilla SF4, I'm looking at you!).

Lyte Edge 02-08-2012 12:49 PM

Imported this for Vita last year and may end up buying the U.S. version for the story mode stuff, which I never played before.

I don't play BB very much and am not sure if I am going to get it on consoles, but this version of the game really does seem to be a hell of a lot more balanced.
Any shortcomings for the Vita version?
Like statics backgrounds, bad sprite downscaling, etc.?
Nothing...it looks beautiful and nothing is missing as far as I can tell. The game looks absolutely gorgeous on the Vita screen and the online play is very, very good (way better than UMvC3). Not as good as the console versions, but I have still had plenty of matches against Japanese players with minimal lag.

I would say that Continuum Shift Extend Vita sets the bar pretty high for portable fighting game ports. UMvC3 is no slouch either, but it has some noticeable visual downgrades from the console versions. BB does not.

Urban Scholar 02-08-2012 01:07 PM

Well my reason for the story mode not being touched was more along the lines of me being a bit intimated. I don't caring negative feelings towards fighting game stories especially not this one.

There is sprite downscaling. Blazblue arcade runs natively at 1280 x 768 so the sprites are downscaled for the 544p qHD display on PSVita.
As you can see from the OS-level screenshots though, it scales quite nicely, unlike the old PSP and 3DS ports of CT and CSII.

I'll buy it for vita at launch, can someone explain me the gameplay differences between guilty gear and blazblue? Thx :D
In short, Blaz is both slower paced and easier than Guilty. Lots of GG diehards hold that against BB, but I don't care.
There are lots of parallels in game systems. Dead Angle Attack, Burst, Barrier Block, Instant Block, Roman Cancels, Negative Penalty, etc. are all there in some repsect or another.
Learning BnBs is, incidentally, the easiest part of learning this game as BnBs are one of the few things that you can brute force. It's far more important to learn how to actually be dynamic and creative in a fight, which takes constant effort and introspection. It's counter-intuitive but I think that part is more fun, anyway.
Mission mode combo replays are also a godsend for this game. It makes it easy for people to find their own shorter versions of complicated combos. I know it was a lifesaver for me.
Believe it or not guys, I never really played through the story modes. So now if I do ill be putting in Rpg hours for ct, cs, and ex's stories
You'll enjoy story mode for this game so long as you keep an open mind. The joke endings and alternate paths are hilarious too haha. You'll be cracking up at Jin's erratic behavior too. :P

Chavelo 02-08-2012 05:27 PM

Great OT, dementia!

Will prolly cop the layout for any future OTs. XD

SolarKnight 02-08-2012 05:28 PM

Yes, if you're going to play story mode you NEED to get the joke endings. Sure, BB's story is good for a fighter, but personally, for me the joke endings were the best part of both CT and CS's stories. Except Lambda's, god damn all of her endings are depressing one way or another :(

Venfayth 02-08-2012 05:29 PM

I need to get this so I can actually fight Volc in something now that I have a ps3 stick.

Lyte Edge 02-08-2012 05:33 PM
There is sprite downscaling. Blazblue arcade runs natively at 1280 x 768 so the sprites are downscaled for the 544p qHD display on PSVita.
You can't even tell the difference on the Vita screen.

Again...perfect port. Makes the 3DS version of CSII look really, really, REALLY poor in comparison, although that was just a lazy PSP port to begin with.

Honestly, my CS thread was the basis for this. This new one is sort of comically cobbled together.

Z3M0G 02-08-2012 06:21 PM

Conflicted...

Didn't finish story mode of Continuum Shift, and didn't buy any of the DLC...

May need to get this one day, but I should finish Continuum Shift first to know if it is worth it. The story dialogues are WAY too long compared to the first one...

Zaraki_Kenpachi 02-08-2012 06:29 PM

I really want the limited edition but I don't know if I have the money. :(

If Deathsmiles is any indication, Aksys tends to overship LEs, so they'll be available for cheap later on if you can wait.

dragonflys545 02-08-2012 06:33 PM

Wtf another version... I guess I'll pick up the Vita version down the line when it hits the bargain bin.

Ya, I'm hoping that's the case. Being unemployed sucks. :(
Wtf another version... I guess I'll pick up the Vita version down the line when it hits the bargain bin.
Have you never seen a fighting game before?

Akselziys 02-08-2012 07:15 PM

Great OT, _dementia!
I sent you a PM with a special thank you :)
The game ships in T-minus 6 days *gasp*!

I hope you all enjoy it! :D

It was worse than the PSP game too, with slowdown and whatnot (apparently).

goldlion054 02-08-2012 07:37 PM

Havn't played since the original. Time to learn about all those nerfs I heard Tager got. I'm still here for you big guy!

Naite 02-08-2012 07:45 PM

Got the LE for $40 from Amazon as well, but I live in Canada, so add in the shipping and I end up paying a few dollars less than the normal price.
This includes CT's story, so there's no reason at all for you to get it.
From what I've read, the CT part is just an extended version of the True End route. So he'd be missing out on quite a bit.

Suprisingly Tager is actually pretty good in this version.

Prototype-03 02-08-2012 07:47 PM

Guess who forgot to check out after putting the game into the cart in Amazon for the $40.00 LE?

THAT'S RIGHT

mini edit: finally found the OT

Which is all he really needs to play through to be honest.

Vita LE exists? I don't see it anywhere. Just see PS3/360 LE.

It should exist in Europe. I don't think North America is getting a Vita LE.

I'm ok with this. Getting pretty hyped for this game again. Loved CT more than any other fighting game this gen (probably because I'm a GG player at heart), but got sort of upset with the quick release of CS. My body is ready, though!

After maining this bastard in CT and CS, I will be shocked if this is true. :P
