This would be a pleasant surprise.

bigkrev 02-16-2013 07:06 PM

Smarter solution than localizing and releasing a PSP game in 2013. Hope they don't try charging more than $10 though

Monosukoi 02-16-2013 07:06 PM

Better come to Europe so I can play it on my Vita - if it ever becomes Vita compatible, that is.

ULTROS! 02-16-2013 07:06 PM

I don't think there has been a PSone game that costed over $9.99 (although JP has $15 ones, the Final Fantasy titles).

electroplankton 02-16-2013 07:07 PM

Finally!!

Jawmuncher 02-16-2013 07:07 PM

Thank god this is at least something.

Ultima_5 02-16-2013 07:07 PM

still want the psp one =/
Better come to Europe so I can play it on my Vita.
Just like how Persona 3 FEZ did on the EU PSN store...oh wait, nevermind :(

Smedwicks 02-16-2013 07:08 PM

This is some good news. I'll probably end up getting it just to see how the game is, even though I've already seen the story of the game. Of course I'm sure it'll be better to experience the story for myself.

Heart Attack 02-16-2013 07:08 PM

Holy fucking shit. Day 1.

FluxWaveZ 02-16-2013 07:08 PM

I've been waiting for this.
still want the psp one =/
Hey, beggars can't be choosers.

Kagari 02-16-2013 07:08 PM

That's one way to get around it I guess.

silkysmooth 02-16-2013 07:08 PM

Outstanding.

How is the translation of this compared to IS PSP?

PowderedToast 02-16-2013 07:09 PM

this will do!

Hellraider 02-16-2013 07:09 PM

Are there meaningful differences between this and the PSP version?

Trigger 02-16-2013 07:09 PM
still want the psp one =/
Yeah. This will do for someone trying to complete the collection tho.
Are there meaningful differences between this and the PSP version?
New content and a slicker presentation.

pirata 02-16-2013 07:09 PM

Complete with its old, not-very-good localization? Also, from the little of it I've played, if the VAs for Katsuya and Ulala aren't the same as Brock and Misty from the English Pokemon anime, then I'm the King of England.

Monosukoi 02-16-2013 07:09 PM
Just like how Persona 3 FEZ did on the EU PSN store...oh wait, nevermind :(
At least you can buy that on the US store and play it on your EU account, though. :P

buddha0991 02-16-2013 07:10 PM

This is better than nothing, but not the ideal solution.

Dantis 02-16-2013 07:10 PM
That's one way to get around it I guess.
Not for the UK! :(

jello44 02-16-2013 07:10 PM

I'm fine either way.

Just gimmie

Let's positive thinking!

epmode 02-16-2013 07:11 PM

SMT: Nocturne as well please. My BC PS3 is on its last legs.

ULTROS! 02-16-2013 07:11 PM
Are there meaningful differences between this and the PSP version?
I believe this game is harder than the PSP version (going by Innocent Sin, it has an easy mode).

kunonabi 02-16-2013 07:11 PM

easily the best game in the series. i still have the original release but i will double dip for my psp. i wish they had done the same with the first one instead of the atrocious remake they put out.

DidntKnowJack 02-16-2013 07:11 PM

I'd like the PSP version, but I'll buy the shit out of this.

buddha0991 02-16-2013 07:12 PM
I believe this game is harder than the PSP version (going by Innocent Sin, it has an easy mode).
Eternal Punishment PSP had proper balancing, and Hard mode was harder than the PS1 version. Also the new content is very worthwhile and cool, unlike ISP. Tons of new bosses, most of them Eldrich/Lovecraftian in nature, man those Tatsuya Scenarios were so cool.

Chacranajxy 02-16-2013 07:13 PM

Well, that's a bit of a cop-out.

Still got the PS1 version, so obviously, I'm not buying this, but uh... yeah. Guess this is their way of saying the PSP version ain't happening. For realz.

Manmademan 02-16-2013 07:13 PM

I bought this on the original release, but it was way too obtuse for me to get through. Demon negotiation seemed to be completely random, for instance.

It was my first SMT game, maybe I'll give it another shot this time.

Maybe not. Isn't Persona 3 FES a PS2 classic? This might just be a way of gauging whether or not an "updated" version is financially viable for the US.

Dantis 02-16-2013 07:14 PM

This has only just struck me.

Fuck :(

Chacranajxy 02-16-2013 07:15 PM

I mean... I wouldn't go that far.

silkysmooth 02-16-2013 07:17 PM

They could have just as easily given us nothing and continued to say nothing.

At least now I'll be able to play the game without paying $100 for the original release.

jello44 02-16-2013 07:18 PM
I mean... I wouldn't go that far.
He's in the UK though.. so the chances of it appearing on their PSN are slim to nil.

DidntKnowJack 02-16-2013 07:18 PM

I know just the place to put it...

Midou 02-16-2013 07:20 PM

Changes always seemed kind of minimal anyways. Localization of PSP one would have been nice, and I imagine fairly easy with translation already done, but probably not gonna sell at all on the PSP at this point..

buddha0991 02-16-2013 07:21 PM

The new content was actually worthwhile in EPP compared to ISP, also things carried over with your save from ISP to ESP

michaelius 02-16-2013 07:22 PM

Better than nothing i guess.

But it better be coming to imports section of EU store.

Akselziys 02-16-2013 07:23 PM

One of the best games ever :D
Though I may be biased...slightly...
the chris 02-16-2013 07:23 PM
SMT: Nocturne as well please. My BC PS3 is on its last legs.
This, I'm wondering if there are any issues with Capcom due to Dante being in the NA version though.

Takao 02-16-2013 07:24 PM

We live in a world where Aksys announced the localization of a dating sim with Keiji Inafune's niece, but Atlus is afraid to localize a remake in their star franchise on the same platform.

We live in a very strange world.

Better than nothing, and PSV can stand for Persona Vita at last.

Roto13 02-16-2013 07:26 PM

I haven't bothered to play Persona 1 and 2 PSP because I didn't want to miss out on the second Persona 2, but this will do. I'd rather play the PSP version, but I can live with this.

Tizoc 02-16-2013 07:26 PM

Nice...I'll grab it when it goes on sale. After the Persona 4 Arena debacle with EU, I'm avoiding getting any of their titles at full price =P

...and people saying 'Screw you Atlus' over this will be showering them with love when Persona 5 gets announced.
This, I'm wondering if there are any issues with Capcom due to Dante being in the NA version though.
They released a version with Raidou taking his place a long time ago in JP. That's not the issue.

Chacranajxy 02-16-2013 07:28 PM
They released a version with Raidou taking his place a long time ago in JP. That's not the issue.
Though Raidou being fucking lame is an issue.

Anyway, that's been my obligatory "I hate Devil Summoner" post.

CrazyTank940 02-16-2013 07:29 PM
SMT: Nocturne as well please. My BC PS3 is on its last legs.
I got a feeling Nocturne won't hit PSN for a while. If I'm not mistaken, the Raidou version never got localized and they'd probably have to renegotiate with Capcom over Dante's appearance.

Soulflarz 02-16-2013 07:29 PM

About damn time!

Jarlaxle 02-16-2013 07:32 PM

I'm a pretty big fan of JRPG's and I've never played a Persona game (I know).

Would this be a good starting off point or should I just jump to Persona 3?

buddha0991 02-16-2013 07:33 PM

p1 and 2 and the modern p3 and 4 are completely different. It is also a story sequel to Persona 2 Innocent Sin, so I would not start here.

This would be a pretty bad starting point, haha.

Play P3:FES, P3P, P4 or P4G.
