In video games development studios, the race to reach realism is faster than ever.
Thomas, our young gamer, witnesses tomorrow's games development.

Here we managed to get a shiny effect on the ground to give the impression that it is wet.

Kid
Yeah, and shadows and stuff

David Cage
Yes, all shadows are dynamic, we have puddles, rain drops... Today's consoles are about 50000 times more powerful now than 20 eyars ago.

Kid
And what does that mean, in concrete terms ?

David Cage
It's like comparing the speed of a snail and a TGV (it's a french high speed train for those who don't know it btw)

To create the characters' faces, it's also a matter of realism. They scan people's faces in 3D.

David Cage
So, what's your opinion ?

Kid
Well it's a bit weird to see myself in 3D like this.

A realism that has an importance in video games

David Cage
Nowadays, video games are a media that reaches maturity. And that is starting to imply emotions, just like movies, litterature or theatre. We're trying to make people cry or laugh when they play a video game. It's only getting started and is the goal of our industry for the upcoming years.

Oh and btw, this isn't really a children TV show. It's more like a scientific one. Well it used to be 100% scientific, now they speak about stuff like how to loose weight or decorate your apartment with ecologic sutff... <.<
