m0dus and orioto's experimental thread of art collaboration . . . #1

Okay, so. As some of you may remember, as of late, orioto's been posting his masterful digital paintings depicting HD remixes of some of our favorite oldschool games. Any of you who may have somehow MISSED that thread, firstly, shame on you. secondly, you can find it here:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=346377

Now anyone following the last page of the thread may have noticed that I called out orioto for a collaboration of sorts--

er, a little backstory: I'd been working on and off on another free unofficial theme which, itself was an 'HD remix' of one of MY favorite games back in the genesis days (I wasn't so much a SNES person, you see). At the time, orioto bumped his thread with some updates of his work, and the idea came to me: why not get together for a theme? One PM and we were off. And the result is now available to you all, below:

The icons in this theme are modeled after the style of the logo itself, hearkening back to a simpler time of parallax scrolling and 16-bit color:

But that's the only 'old-skool' aspect of it, really. The real star of the show are the wallpapers:

It's pretty obvious right off the bat that we have distinctly differing artistic styles -- but (IMO) the wallpapers complement each other pretty well. We also purposely focused on one character in each wallpaper (mine being Red, orioto's being Blue). It seemed like the thing to do :p

Now in addition to the theme itself, which you can find here:

... I am also uploading 'clean' versions of both wallpapers, in 1080p, for use on desktops and such. They are both available in a zip file, here:

So, what do you all think? Should we do this again sometime? eh?
