3DS second week at the begining for march : 209k. Those are some horrible numbers for the Vita :(

Also Musou Orochi 2 did much better than I expected. I really thought people would get fed up with the insane amount of Musou games coming out.

Edit: PSP second week in december 2004: 85k.

Not sure why Sony thought it was a good idea to pump out a bunch of 3g/wifi units over the wifi standalones, guess they really misread the market. Maybe they'll be able to correct the ship a bit and get more wifi only ones out there...if it's not already too late. No (known) games on the horizon to really prop it up either, going to be a long 2012 for the Vita.

Sucks to see the Vita's lukewarm reception, but I'm not surprised. It'll have a really, really rough first year at the very least and who knows how the western launch goes.

I knew the Vita had no chance going against the "trinity" of 3DS software (MK/SM3D/MHTG) but I thought considering it is the holiday season, a 150K-200K week was reasonable.

I was very wrong. Considering the 3DS's second week was 200K, I thought it would be natural for the Vita to follow course. It touched 70K. It hasn't sold out of its launch shipment. :/ I really doubt its constraints on the Wi-Fi model which there is no news reports out there to suggest that. Sony needs to announce some shit, stat.

Vita sales won't really pick up until there is a significant release on it. One that Japan actually still cares about, and is exclusive, and can move units. Right now the only remote candidate is... Persona 4... an enhanced PS2 port. Not looking great.

Well, MH3G should sell its million shipment this week, or the next week tops. Then there's the 1,200,000 mark for the capcom estimated sales.

3DS has insane software and great price. Vita doesn't have ANY system sellers and high price. Even worst, they mostly shipped 3G models. Writing was on the wall, but I didn't expect this kind of a drop. Awful.

There's no need to beat around the bush. Coming from someone who wanted the Vita and its so much better hardware/tech to 'beat' the 3DS (as lame as that sounds), this thing is dead in Japan. If Sony would have secured MH4 we could at least hold on to that for the future but they didn't. It's done in Japan. Only thing that could save it is a huge price drop of like $50-100 but that's not gonna happen.

Vita might be in for a rough stretch. Wonder what Sony will do. Will they sit on the device and do nothing like they did with the PSP and the PS3?

Also, are those MH sales good or bad? I mean going towards a million is always good, but it is the only one of a few games in the top 20 (other than fading franchises like FF and Inazuma) that went down week over week on the biggest shopping week of the season.

This is a repeat of the DS vs PSP, it seems. And even I was sure that this time Nintendo would be toppled.

Ouch at the PSV hardware + software.

Wow at the 3DS hardware + software. It would be amazing if Mario Kart DS charted in the top 30.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Inazuma Eleven Strikers 2012 Xtreme will outsell Ninokuni Ps3.... haha, this getting ridiculous.

Vita will probably have a rough first year, but it isn't unreasonable to think that some major (second half) 2012 titles are still unannounced. Sony is never going to be the handheld market leader, but they should at least aim to recapture some of the niches that the PSP had in Japan.
