I assume G4 will have the Nintendo conference, right?

Hopefully/probably. But this will likely be the last year that G4 will do E3 coverage since G4 appears as though it will go under some major changes in the not too distant future. If so, I hope Spike TV can show the Nintendo conference next year otherwise there will be no TV outlet for next year's E3 Nintendo conference coverage. I suppose you can always watch online, but I still like to watch such things from the comfort of my TV *shrug*

Nintendo didn't allow Spike to show their conference. Or at least, Spike isn't showing Nintendo's. I don't know the details.
Wonderful. Something to talk about... With Ideaman coming post and the other stuff spreaded in the thread we should be ok for the next couple of hours.

I suspect there are deals in place because they arent Showing Sonys either. They are only showing uninterrupted MS and EA. I wouldnt put it past MS saying you cant show the others if you want ours

Online coverage begins at 8am PST with a preview of the Xbox Press Briefing and continues until 8pm PST with the conclusion of the Sony Press Briefing.

Sounds to me like they are.

Uhh, hasn't this been like... forever?
Spike has only shown MS's conference for a while now.

They showed MS's conference and I think maybe EA or Ubisoft's as well in the past? G4 would cover the rest but if no more G4 then presumably Spike TV would pick up the rest? Or maybe nit's just not worth their time *shrug*

I've always suspected that kind of thing going-on.

Watching G4 decline has been delicious, BTW.

Looking at the Bird Demo again, I think I may have found another difference between the press conference and floor demo versions.

I noticed that the quickly flapping wings of the little bird were translucent on the floor demos. I thought this might be some kind of artistic effect to simulate motion blur. But just watching the direct feed again, they are always opaque. I'm wondering though, if the effect is just a artifact of filming the demo off-screen? If TV frames are being merged into one on the camera recording? I've also seen this happen with the bats in the Zelda demo.

I don't know. What do you guys think it is I'm seeing?

The TV wasn't synced with the camera, so you're seeing two frames being combined.

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.
That's fucking lame. Since Nintendo's goes off at 9am local time, they probably didn't want to bother setting up that early and decided to skip it.

If memory serves, Spike has carried MS the last couple of years with G4 carrying at least Nintendo's. That was boss in 2010 but now DirecTv dropped G4.

The streams are fine but it was awesome watching on the big screen.

I heard that they had to choose between Nintendo's conference and a very special episode of Cheaters.

I'm talking about Game Trailers, though. I fully expect G4 to cover Nintendo's.

Fantastical

Death Prophet
So they state that on Tuesday the TV coverage begins at 12 Eastern which is when Nintendo's conference starts, but they make no mention of the conference. I'm fairly certain it won't be on Spike TV, but I expect it to be online on GT.

Wow, they must be morons if they gave up the other two in order to show just Microsofts conference.

Considering I will have my PC connected to my HDTV and the Nintendo conference streaming full screen from the official Nintendo site, I can honestly say I couldn't care less which networks show it.

...not that any here in the UK would, anyhow.

After what happened last year with the official Nintendo stream, I think I'm gonna have 2 or 4 streams opened at once.

?

Worked flawlessly for me, and I was on a netbook using EXTREMELY shitty WiFi in a caravan in a forest near the Spanish/french border.

Edit - just remembered I wasn't using WiFi at all, we were using my mate's mobile internet dongle!

Depends really. Microsoft is considered the King of Hardcore gamers so they get alot of bulk to throw around.

Maybe but unless they're paying them its a terrible decision IMO. Nintendo are the only ones showing new hardware so its hard to argue against them having potentially the most interesting conference wether you're a fan or not and Sony are hardly small fry

Plus Microsofts last conference was super casual.

You're lying if you tell me you typed that with a straight face.

I saw it. lol

GT and Spike would rather masturbate over Halo 15 than show Nintendos Conference. They will steam Nitnendos conference online on a server with like .5mb of bandwidth speed so the moment more than 3 people attempt to watch it it will crash

My source is my ass!
About the OS/Wii U "software layer", its memory size, etc.

I got a confirmation from a different source that the ones i'm usually referring to since the start, that the data revealed 2 months and half ago (with other following messages, please search in speculation thread 2, 3 & 4) about the "OS" is right. Right on the "surprising" comment, right on the at the time expected amount. It's huge, surely never seen before on a normal home system.

Nota Bene:

- It's still on a v4 dev kit context, so relevant a few months from now, a big semester before the system launch, so it's likely to change.

- Cross-read/understood/analyzed with the info in regard to third-parties left in a roughly vague knowledge of the Wii U OS/Background status until recently (they don't know the "real" dashboard for example, etc.), it could hint toward:

---> Nintendo reserved a certain amount of memory (at least 512MB to be clear) without knowing the exact space that the Wii U OS will take once completed, they made a prevision of that with a noticeable additional room, in case it will occupy more place. In the end, it will be more reasonable size-wise than this locked space. Considering the OS size of the other systems, it's pretty sure that it will remain the biggest software layer seen on this kind of platform. This anticipated trimming could free up some memory for games. As projects are being developed with a limited amount of memory from the total pool (the rest is for the OS/background/system features), we could expect a 3DS situation where developers, once the OS is optimized and slimmed down, will be able to use more memory.

---> Or the software layer will indeed match the amount reserved for it in the dev kits. Then, we can really expect huge features, multi-tasking, etc, on the Wii U.

- More to come about that (especially on the OS "storage") soon.

Edit: more precision here http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=38012220&postcount=14967
To be perfectly clear, and i think i was in this message, i'm not saying that the operating system, the "Windows" of the Wii U, take 512MB of space AND in its storage location (flash memory), AND once loaded in the RAM Memory. When i say "OS", i put question marks on it and always add after "software layer", basically i'm talking of the operating system AND all the background applications, the system features, the functions, like multi-tasking, the possibility to store your in-game progression to do other things then return to your game, etc, all these have a huge amount (at least 512MB) of space reserved for it. And it was relevant in a certain context (third-parties knowledge, v4 dev kits, a few months ago), so the situation is likely to change. Read the link for further infos.

GT and Spike would rather masturbate over Halo 15 than show Nintendos Conference.

It's okay. They have Pachter who has already confirmed to their whole crew that Nintendo is already irrelevant at this point because his kids play on ipads. What's the point in wasting resources to show off the next Dreamcast?

Just watched the BattleShip Quicklook on Giantbomb.

And it made me think, that if Nintendo retooled Batallion Wars graphically.. not gritty or realistic, but more in line with something like.. Team Fortress

And had you control units on the tablet while doing the whole 3rd person shooter on the screen. Could be a fun addition to their library.

Sounds about right.

Nintendo's conference belongs on CBS, or whatever old person channel they can get..

Maybe we're gonna see more of that Sunday at Bonus Round.

It's Nintendo's turn.

Depends really. Microsoft is considered the King of Hardcore gamers so they get alot of bulk to throw around.

I find it annoying and sad that we both refer to a subculture as "hardcore" gamers (highly ironic considering the mainstream popular games they gravitate towards), and that Microsoft of all companies is now the King of these hardcore gamers.

First the crowd of "hardcore gamers" the term is generally coined after refers to 17-25 year old's who play all the AAA games and do all-night CoD benders. Kind of like how I used to do all-night drinking benders, but I didn't call myself a "hardcore" drinker (and fuck any self respecting man who calls themselves a lush), I was just a alcoholic. So let's call them what they are, which is: mainstream gamers or more accurately "much more interested casual gamers", or hell...maybe just gamers or people who play games. My wife 100%'d Super Meat Boy and Rayman Origins, also beat the Lost Levels and plays FB/iOS and Wii Sports., what kind of "gamer" is she. Since we need to ascribe arbitrary terms to every possible genre, interest, investment and demographic.

And Nintendo will always be hardcore, no matter what. After all the guy's like me who were playing SnP2 on Wii while all the "hardcore" gamers were playing CoD MP were just casuals on a casual console.

Rant over/ Not a slight at you btw, just needed to blow of some steam I've got about our beloved gaming labels, there's gotta be a special place in hell for the terms over the last 8 years though.

I mean calling Microsoft at E3 "hardcore".

And I'm sure that it's a different green thing that they're masturbating over...

What is this suposed to mean? It either is or it isn't.

At least 512MB of Wii U's RAM is locked off from games.

Although I say I'd be okay with Nintendo being in their own little profitable corner of the market, it's moments like this that make me hope that they end-up dominating all, just to watch these media {*%#&s*} squirm. They wouldn't be able to ignore two generations in a row.

(yeah, they would. who am I kiddin'?)
