Help a noob out here...I've been trying to figure out the genre of Thievery Corporation and RDJ2 that I have been listening to on Pandora. Would this be the genre they and related groups fall under?

I always thought it was like "Modern Lounge" but I can see this falling under instrumental hip-hop.
I believe most of Thievery Corporation's work falls under downtempo/lounge/chillout categories and RJD2 is mostly geared towards instrumental hip-hop.

Alright thanks. I'm just looking for more artists in either of these genres as I like music from both.

damn, gonna have to come back to bootay's post, good one man!

check this out & lemme know what you think
I've been listening to this guy really good and while the (movie?) quotes aren't really my thing I like his style. It's different but still has some songs I can listen to while relaxing. Goes more into different genres I guess which is why I don't like some of it. His first volume had good ones too, I've been listening to metamorphosis non-stop!! That one gets you high without even being on something! Jenova is crazy

Sup gaf.

I'm making a track, I think it might be up your guys' alley, but I'm not sure

It's a WIP, so I want some feedback. Wanna give me a comment?
I can't give you proper feedback but I like what I'm hearing. Maybe fine tune some of the sounds? Either way looking forward to the final track!! Very chill but it keeps you from floating off

Does anyone here listen to Amon Tobin?

I got blazed off some haze today and threw the headphones on and listened to his recent EP called Isam, and it felt so different. Before it sounded like random noises, now I could fully vision the sounds....one was of a mecha being born, facing a battle then ultimately dying.

Was mad

Instrumental albums are the shit. Ps loving Freddie Joachim? Then check out Eric Lau too, he's on Freddie's latest remixed single

Im a massive fan of Tobin, but didn't really get into ISAM until I saw it live, which blew my mind. I recently picked up his boxset which has all the live versions of the tracks as well as orchestral works and loads of unreleased tracks - must have if you're into his work.

Also, holy shit, Clams Casino - instrumental mixtape 2 out of nowhere

Alright, I'm going to use that $4 Amazon album credit to check out some Bonobo. Guess I'll start with Animal Magic and go from there.

Co-sign on Black Sands. Honestly one of the best composed albums I've ever heard. Such dynamics.
Somehow, I prefer Animal Magic over Black Sands. I like how "melodic" the former is.

BTW, co-signing this 2011 recommendation:

Daft Punk + Jazz + Hip Hop:

Balance and the Traveling Sounds - Something About Us

Just came across this recently and haven't stopped playing it since. I really like the MCs verse in the beginning, never thought I'd hear that in a Daft Punk cover; the whole thing is just ridiculously smooth. You can download this track and their whole EP for free on the Balance and the Traveling Sounds bandcamp page.
"Something About Us" is indeed quite neat.

Anybody heard of Nuuro Instrumentals?

It's a compilation album and there are 3 volumes of it.

I heard it at a Spooky stream a few weeks back and a stream monster linked it to a part 3 of it.

Somehow I must have deleted it, but it's still on my Iphone. I found the 2 other ones, but I can't find part 3.

Anybody know anything?

Great thread btw, some nice tunes in here.

Funny you should mention it again, after not listening to that cover for months I've been playing it on repeat the past few days :)
I was stuck on that cover until I warmed up to the last track, "Won't Do (live)". That beat gets my groove on!

yep damn Animal Magic is masterpiece... listenin for like 3 hours now... every song...
<3Bonobo
Indeed, quite a piece of art that album.

New Evil Needle and Lorn albums!!! :D

Evil Needle

Pretty good so far.. also, I just noticed he released another album not too long ago that I'm about to get. Based on what I've heard in the first few tracks, it sounds pretty damn good.
Sample: Jazzy Piano

Here's the other one:

Sample: Champion Sound
Edit: Okay, halfway through this album, and it's pretty dope.
Definitely liking it more than Homeworks.

And here's Lorn's album, which is great.

This is all good, but that Lorn tape is incredible. Absolutely fucking nuts. Thanks for this!
