I was going to outright praise the animation of the fight against the panda, which hasn't been this good since the fight against Tommyrod, but I've got to dock points for copy and pasting the same sequence twice, that type of thing really annoys me for some reason.

So far this casino arc has been surprisingly really good considering the other 2 "team up with [insert Sani or Zebra]" arcs have been so-so.

Some sort of new Hunter x Hunter project that has to do with the anime is getting announced in Shonen Jump next week. Wonder if it'll be a full reveal for the second movie or something.

They're going to announce the anime going on hiatus. Now anime viewers to can get the full HxH experience :D

That GitS conference threw off my anime-watching schedule.

Wandering Son 6

This really is a great show.

This culture festival had a lot of energy. They did a nice job of moving different side characters through the backgrounds. It made the festival seem pretty lively.

There's something about the editing in this show that's really different from most of the other anime I watch. I like how it uses fast cuts, or how it splices up static moments to speed time along. It can be reminiscent of Western film or comedy sometimes.

iboSlkzpdcaDRu.jpg

An example of a quick-cut flashback used for comedy. Either this doesn't happen often in anime, or I'm watching the wrong shows.
ibfKIQ5DqFxUHD.jpg

This isn't the first time the show has used jump cuts in time on a single shot. In fact, it happens in the prologue for just about every episode. I think it's kinda charming.
All of that wouldn't be as meaningful if the show didn't continue to do such a great job with its characters. But I'm not sure what to say that hasn't already been said.

Mouryou no Hako 6

So I was kinda right about the mysteries thing. The pacing seems to have slowed down a lot here. The episode barely leaves the room. It seems like this portion of the story is about trying to arrest our attention after all the flashbacks and shifting narrators. It doesn't lay out what has happened for us, but it asks us to stop and assess what we've seen so far. What mysteries can we explain? What sorts of characters are we dealing with? Am I correct that
the medium in Yoriko's house is the same person as the box-maker in this episode
?

Our two favorite symbols, together at last!

Eitherway, Kyogokudou is an interesting character to watch, dictating the terms of the conversation, controlling the pace, topic, and jargon. It's interesting watching how Sekiguchi reacts to him. Our author isn't exactly great at getting to the point himself, but he's clearly familiar with Kyogokudou's games, and doesn't seem to be a fan.

iLtFV51zm0Q6c.jpg

They use this close-up view of Sekiguchi a lot when they let us in on his thoughts. Even though he knows Kyougokudo better than his reporter friend, he's really shut out of this conversation, and trapped in his own headspace.

Preview suggests more talking next episode. Normally I'd hate that, but I kind of liked how this episode played out.

"Let me tell you a boring story"

Was this the calm before the storm ??

I can't even begin to think on what will happen next , but i need to sleep.

I can't watch an arc like this when i don't have enough sleep.

This episode set events that could be legendary ..

VERDICT : SUPERB

Rest up, you'll need it. Looking back, I really like how the good stuff wasn't spoiled in the previews. Hold on to that kick the can gif.

The Art of Porco Rosso came in the mail today.

Skimming through some pages displayed content of the original story: The Age of the Flying Boat (full color panels and separate fully translated version included), initial storyboards, concept script, many designs for characters (with brief profiles) and environments alike in watercolor, plenty of screens from the film and full profiles and statistics on the planes in the film! The pages are thick and glossy; it's good quality material.

Random bit: Supposedly, Porco Rosso was originally intended to be an easygoing project for the staff that slaved over Only Yesterday. Of course, as the storyboards grew, the project expanded. There's a load of more information in the book, but that's the gist of it.

Anyhow, this is a high-quality book for one of Studio Ghibli's absolute best. I may check out another book from the library in the future if I'm looking for hardcover art books again.

:O!!!! I need this book! I love Porco Rosso!

XD Brilliant!

Yuusha Yoshihiko to Maou no Shiro aka The Hero Yoshihiko and the Demon King’s Castle ep.1
D42sGIW.jpg

The story is set in an ancient time, when the whole country was covered in thick forests. A mysterious plague breaks out, resulting in countless deaths. A pure young man named Yoshihiko becomes chosen as a hero, and he sets out on a journey in order to save a village. He has two goals – to bring back the legendary plant that can cure the plague, and to rescue his father Teruhiko who left to find the plant but never returned.
And he finds his father in the very first episode.

What the hell did I just watch. It sounds epic and all but it's like watching some live action Gintama.
That was funny. Like, all the characters are stupid, you can't help laughing whenever they do/say something. The hero puts 3D glasses to see Buddha, the mage only knows one spell...
Watch it.

One of the dispatchers just quit in the middle of the night. Left his phone on hold and quit without telling anybody. Guess who had to step in and save the day?
At least I get paid 4 extra days plus the Mardi Gras 2 day holiday. I still don't think its worth it but whatever.

Fate/Zero 1

Wow, hype start. I feel like I might be too new to the franchise to fully enjoy this, but I'm psyched.

(Only played Fate/Extra on the PSP and loved it.)

Dat Saber.

Yup. If you are already hooked on an episode many people didnt even like you will LOVE this. (I liked episode 1 btw)

I know, right?

I don't know anything about Haganai, but there is this Maria figure that is absolutely lovely, observe:

She can also be purchased with Kobato, and their erotic female figures match together perfectly. Nobody should feel bad for lusting over either of them.
Because in the end it doesn't matter what age they are since their bodies are like porn stars and they show it!

Nice figures! Ive seen them before but I dont really have Haganai fandom (havent seen it yet)

If you didn't like the first three episodes, I'd say probably not. You could watch episode 4 to see the rest of their first match I suppose, but I'd think three episodes is plenty to get a feel for it.

Yeah, the pillow case rear side is obviously based on the same illustration that figure is.
http://i4.minus.com/iboiykmdOBcRBb.jpg
Incidentally, of the four pillow cases released so far, Maria's is apparently the only one drawn by the TV series character designer himself.

I've avoided getting into figures because that's a whole other world of expense, especially once you start needing display cases and lighting, but every now and then I'm sorely tempted, and that set was one of those times.

Maria especially doesn't look her age, more like a really short teenager.
I imagine this sort of thing is designed to appeal to people who are into "forbidden fruit" fantasies but not actually attracted to child bodies.

Its better this way. Believe me it is. Avoid starting the hobby at all costs. Its a super money pit.

Aren't those figurines technically sexualization of a minor?

Technically most anime is sexualization of minors.
Technically.

spice and wolf ova

even ova still looks super derpy, but holo is sooo hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng

You're damned right she's hnnnngh!

Tenchi Muyo, Dual and Steel Angel Kurumi from the 90's is a good start. Then Tenchi Muyo GXP, Photon, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari and Hand Maid May...

There is more but that is what I can tell you off the top of my head.

Oh man. Dual....Steel Angel Kurumi....Hand Maid May...so many memories!

Phew, this episode went deep into content. That was quite the discussion to follow. I do wonder where this story is gonna fit it in with the original case.

Ep 18 has bigger problem like cutting out the fat run.In other words.."Buy the blu ray!" fuck you A1. Magi is ruined thanks to you and Hiroyuki Yoshino.

Gundam Seed HD Remaster 25

Well might as well try to finish this up before Seed Destiny HD, or maybe wait for the bds of that too since I guess more stuff was touched up than in the tv broadcast? Anyway, was virtually a recap episode with a few minutes of new material. Liked finally knowing what SEED stood for and at least hearing about the epic and awesome things Kira does and is capable of doing. I hope he continues to display proficient skills in everything as if he does could possibly become one of my favorite gundam pilots since Heero or Setsuna F Seiei. ( I like Duo too).

I assume the Kira shot was touched up which seemed odd for there is nothing going on in that scene except talking about baka Cagalli getting slapped...

[Re: Cutie Honey] 1, or Trying to keep this as Safe for Work as possible!
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

That was amazing. Tits and arse aside (of which there is plenty), that was a really energetic and vibrant forty-minutes of Imaishi doing what he knows to do best: cartoonish characters getting squishy squashy, accompanied by his trademark explosions and all sots of dumb physics. The scene with the
bullet ricocheting off Gold Panther's breast-plate
was not unlike that of Panty & Stocking's episode six. So ridiculous, yet so awesome.

The plot is otherwise very shallow. The entire episode is nothing more than an excuse for GAINAX's animators (and Toei's ostensibly, but nobody cares about them except silly Precure and One Piece fans) to go crazy and show lots of naked ladies, but there are still some light hints of character development here and there, especially in the character of Natsuko, who easily steals the show with her nonchalant attitude towards the eponymous super heroine. It should be enough for the three episodes this series lasts, at least.

The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that the next episode seems to have been handled by another director altogether, what with Hideaki Anno being more interested in silly 3D people with ugly tokusatsu effects before he even gets on the lame job of supervising animation. Ewwwww.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the OP song by Koda Kumi, her of Real Emotion fame, is great.
