I have now completed a program for connecting a Wii U Pro Controller to Windows with help from Daku93.

Just add your Pro Controller in the Windows Bluetooth Manager, don't use a PIN, then start the application.

All buttons are mappable, both analogs can act as the D-Pad or YBAX Buttons.
Supports LEDs / Rumble control. Displays Battery, USB, And Analog status.

It does not work using the default Windows bluetooth stack, sadly. You need to follow those instructions to get the Pro Controller working. http://www.smoothboard.net/wiiremoteplus/
(Yes, they are about connecting a normal Remote+ but it also works for the Pro Controller)

What I'm currently working on, is getting the Pro controller to be recognized as a XBox Gamepad, so you can also use the analogs as analogs and not just as buttons. I hope to have something finished as soon as next week, but I can't promise anything since I'm not very experienced in writing C++ Code which I need to do to accomplish this...

PC -- Mac

Been released minutes ago, so of course it hasn't been widely tested yet. Use at your own risk.

In related news the Wii U Tablet is also now functional as a controller on PC, but no streaming yet.

Get that pad streaming from my computer and emulators for old games will be working overtime.

What uses could you possibly have for this with a PC? Streaming porn from anywhere in your house?

In that case I'll take 20

Exciting! As soon as they get the analogs recognized in a way that lets me use them with X360CE, I'm picking up a Pro Controller for all my comfy couch and controller-friendly game needs.

So... nothing has changed.... as they already have ways to use your touch screen phone on the computer

The Pro Controller, not the GamePad. Read harder, man!

If you're rocking a phone with a wii u sized screen I feel bad for you son
Also known as a Nexus 7 (or other 7-inch tablet) with Splashtop.

I could have sworn I already heard about it a week ago (but with the tablet controller thing), didn't seem very interesting at the time since the streaming isn't working yet, so it's just a big clunky awkward gamepad.

It's a 360 controller with funny buttons.

Along with a layout that's arguably better for games that are heavy on both movement and camera control, and triggers that are also arguably better for anything that isn't a racing game. Oh, and a good d-pad.

EDIT: I don't see why the stick placement is poor. Lots of modern games have you using the sticks together most of the time. Why not put them in the "default" positions? Does it blow your mind to reach down to press face buttons instead of reaching up?

I thought for a second that it was about the gamepad with the screen :(

Good for nintendo users though, not having to waste money on some shitty logitech pad to play on pc, I use my ps3 controller all the time.

And possibly a non-shitty DPad. But yes, Nintendo uses inverted A/B and X/Y from what's standard for PC/360.

I don't want to start an argument, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure Nintendo came out with their config first. I'm just wondering why it was changed for PC/Dreamcast in the late 90s?

360 controller is just a smaller Xbox controller which was just a bigger Dreamcast controller with an extra stick.

Nintendo did come out with it first. Neither they nor Sony have done anything to promote their hardware on PC, such as official drivers for the Dualshock 3 on PC. Thus 360-style is the de facto standard on PC.

I don't know why it was flipped, other than maybe the bottom button being used more frequently than the right button, and the same going for the left/top.

How is the stick placement worse? I think symmetrical analogue sticks is actually advantageous to being asymmetrical, especially in games where the face buttons aren't used much, and the analogues and triggers are.

I'm guessing just to be aesthetically different. Nintendo first had that button configuration during the SNES era (and B was the leftmost button on the NES instead of A as well).

excellent, one step closer to being used as a wacom tablet!

i say this after having bought a udraw tablet recently for use with my computer. i think i might have a weird obession with turning things into wacom tablets.........

Because having your right thumb at a neutral position (on the stick) so much further from the bottom face button is weird.

So, the Pad Pro is now actually more useful on PC/Mac than it is on Wii U?

Kind of, yeah. As of this update we're not quite there yet, but the Pro Controller will make excellent replacement for the 360 controller on PC games as soon as someone gets this working with X360CE or GlovePIE.

Ironically, if Nintendo actually had official support for the tablet controller on PC (meaning streaming), I might actually consider buying their console. Why not? Microsoft did it with the Kinect, and you don't even have buy the entire 360 package.

As it is, Nvidia might be getting my money for that purpose.

If we can get the GamePad working with PC, I'm game. I think it would make a great media center remote to go along with XBMC.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.

I don't think you understand how the Wii U works...

Cool. I might pick another one up, then. I returned mine when I realized it didn't even work with any of the Wii U or Wii games I had. Total disappointment.

Because Nintendo doesn't have another business where they make a computer OS more than half the world uses.

Yes, that does make sense. Testing now and it does seem it's easier to slide a thumb diagonally up (right) than diagonally down (left). Though I do still prefer sticks being symmetrically positioned. 360 pad is supremely comfortable mind, mainly due to the ergonomics of the actual shape/hand grips.

Different does not equal bad. It's just different. Damn humans and always wanting things to be the same.

It's totally weird. The bottom face button is pretty important seeing as it's usually a primary button. Confirming in menus, jumping in platformers. Think of all that extra precious time wasted with your thumb traveling that extra distance. This is serious business.

Damn I just finished Far Cry 3 and was wishing the whole time I could have used a pad for it. That game has you use way too many keyboard buttons. Still, my Pro controller will get more use on the PC than it looks to get on the Wii U.
