It's doesn't matter if it's a sequel to a hit. It's a character and universe that doesn't need it and as stated before already had it's "15 mins of fame".

Why does DK deserve 15 minutes of fame? Before Rare was bought DK had games regularly. Neither Metroid or DK needs to go without games for as long periods of time. Also, Metroid Other M wasn't that long ago. Give Nintendo so time to find a good developer for the series. It took long enough for Donkey Kong.
