What confuses me the most about it is that always would hear about how people missed the series after Rare had been bought out. Lots of fans wished (myself included) that Nintendo would bring back Donkey Kong Country. So it confuses me that Retro making a sequel to Returns is unwanted. I feel like It might have a little bit to do with not having a Metroid game in a few years. I think it's just going to take Nintendo time to find the right developer for it, just like it took years for them to find the right one for Donkey Kong again.

What do you think GAF? Are you excited for Tropical Freeze or do you wish Retro made something else? In my opinion, it's my most anticipated Wii U game.

How many franchise 2D platformers have Nintendo released on their consoles/portables since NSMB? Way too many, they've milked the genre and themes bone dry. Everyone wanted a new or reboot IP in 3D because it represents an opportunity to create a game with more meat, depth, involvement, and innovation. No one waited 3 years to hop and bop through a DKCR expansion pack, this doesn't need explaining.
