We're largely discussing why people may or may not consider Retro working on another DK game to be a good move, not whether or not Retro wanted to make a sequel.

Also, I highly doubt that anyone could get Retro to say they didn't want to make another DK game at this stage, even if that was the truth. But there's nothing to back this up, I know.
