At this point practically half the library of the Wii U is platformers. Yes we know that platformers tend to sell better on Nintendo hardware hence why they show up there but when you put out so many in such a short time you drive people off.
Retro should have been working on something fresh that could introduce a rarely used genre not yet another platformer and stupidly enough not another Donkey Kong right after porting the last to handhelds. The franchise isn't that popular to be releasing so much so soon.
What if the developers really wanted to work on the project and Nintendo forced them off of it? Would that have been a better scenario?
Personally, I would have been more excited about a new Metroid Prime, but I played the shit out of DKCR and I will out of this as well. It just feels so good walking around in Retro's environments, they're really all that and a bag of chips.
