- Mario 3D World is a direct sequel to Mario 3D Land, a 3DS game.
- The new Kirby 3DS game is clearly using as much from Kirby's Return to Dreamland game as much as possible.
- Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is a direct sequel to DKC Returns.
- NSMBU was directly using NSMBWii stuff.
- Mario Kart 8 is clearly using assets, animations and ideas from Mario Kart 7.
- Heck, Smash Bros is coming to Wii U and 3DS at the same time!
It feels like Nintendo cheaping out and making direct sequels instead of making new and unique IP that use their new controller to the fullest.
Maybe they are gearing up for their next console/handheld. With those sequels, they are most likely guaranteed as much money as possible compared to "risky" new IPs. Maybe they then want to compete with the highest tech out their when releasing the new product. Maybe...
Probably not.
