"Left 4 Dead 3" is found on Steam (yet another leak?)

Valve opened up the SteamWorks API: http://indiestatik.com/2013/05/31/p...reenlight-can-be-bypassed-through-publishers/

“As of today, the Steamworks SDK and accompanying documentation is now available to any developer via the Steamworks Developer Site at https://partner.steamgames.com (you’ll need to log in and agree to the SDK access agreement).

We see this as a small, but important step as we work toward providing more broad access to the Steamworks set of features and Steam distribution platform. With this access, developers should be able to evaluate potential integration with the various features and APIs in Steamworks, compile the code and perform limited testing of the functionality with the included sample application.

Developers wishing to integrate the Steamworks SDK with their own games or applications still need to first be Greenlit and provided with an appID.

Once you’ve accepted the SDK Agreement, you’ll also be granted access to the Steamworks Development group (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamworks), where you can post questions in the relevant discussion boards or see other frequently asked questions.

We’re announcing to this group first, but will eventually make this public knowledge. Please let us know if you have any trouble accessing the SDK or documentation.”

And another Steam title leaks out..

From facepunch:

- What, did you publish that yourself, or look at the link and get banned?

- I brute forced it in a way, there were lots of interesting things I found. L4D3 was the most interesting although it hasn't been updated in months so it may be dead. Fun fact TurboTax is coming to Steam...

It's this: http://steamdb.info/app/235480/

Just an FYI, the L4D2 beta also has a ridiculously long AppID: http://steamdb.info/app/223530/ . It seems like Valve keeps the 3-digit IDs for their retail releases, and uses longer IDs for their developmental builds.

Either way though that's true - we don't really know until we have more information. It wouldn't surprise me if L4D3 is coming down the road, though, as it's been awhile since any retail releases. Plus, Valve doesn't have much video game content going on right now besides "finishing" DOTA 2 and constantly adding more material to their current releases.

And this we know already:

that L4D2 was used as the test title for Source 2's development.

I would love a new L4D.. But hopefully more gritty like the first.

I probably have about 200 hours into those games. Survivor ftw

Reminds me of how I found it MILDLY exasperating they put out Persona 4 so shortly after Persona 3... but it's now been so long after Persona 4 I'd welcome P5 coming. Similarly L4D2 came out in, what, 2009? 2010 maybe? It's probably not a bad time to put out another, especially with DayZ showing how else you could handle zombie multiplayer.

L4D2 was released in 2009.

I've played a ridiculous amount of Left 4 Dead in my time.

Will purchase this as well but they need to make changes to the game for it to have any legs.

But that's silly; everyone knows Valve can't count to three.

Day one.

Honestly, I hope they launch Source 2 with this game, though. I think Valve would be able to show a lot of the new additions of an engine through a series that heavily relies on replay value.

I guess it is probably easier to make Left 4 Dead f2p then Half Life f2p.

After Greenlight turned into a mess and some of the questionably exploitive stuff Valve has been doing with DOTA / steam I was hoping the next game would be a return to form. Here is hoping this is just a working title because the reaction to that would be pretty dumb. Heck the reaction to 2 was already sort of messed up.

Every time I hear Left for dead, I keep thinking about the hilarious lack of distance between L4D1 launch and L4D2 launch

very disappointing, didn't the Left 4 Dead developer leave Valve? I loved L4D but the asshole community made me quit that game, bought L4D2 long time ago and I still haven't installed it yet...
