For REmake 2, I'm hugely excited! I wanna see something...anything. I'm assuming the scenarios will be the same with the A and B stuff but I remember someone mentioning the scenarios being combined as another way it could be done which I thought was an interesting idea but incredibly different.

Also, what about all the extra unlockable modes like 4th survivor from original RE2. Have they said anything about the inclusion of content like that or do you think it'll just be like the base scenarios?

As for RE7, I may be a little more weary but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure they've learned their lesson from the reactions of the previous game...right?

My one and only post in the old community thread sits ignored and alone, so I'll try it here instead:

I started the UHD version of RE4s Mercenaries today, and noticed that there is some Japanese text on the sides of the stage select screen. Does anyone know what it says?

RE5 (not counting the Versus DLC) is pretty easy. Since you can use the unlimited ammo on professional.

I had an RE5 pro help me with the versus trophies and boy, they were hard. Took me forever to learn how to play versus like a good player and it's really challenging against the pros, which is pretty much the only thing you can find today. The bad thing about it, is that the RE5 versus community is mostly trash. Alot of assholes and just people who will do everything to just piss you off which is a huge turn off because when you learn how to play versus it's pretty addicting. It's very unique and cool. Would be cool if there were enough GAFers who could get together for some versus matches. I uploaded one of the early matches I ever played on versus and oh god, whenever I watch it I'm like... DO SOMETHING! I remember being so proud of it when I first uploaded it, lmao!

We don't all agree on the previous game. But for those in the hate parade, you have the media on your side.

For Team RE6... it's the best selling RE of all time. So I take some solace in those millions and millions of "yes" votes. I guess we'll see what happens soon enough. 20th anniversary approaches.

That's RE 5 my man. You'll have to look elsewhere for yes votes.

I've been a fan since the original game.

RE is awesome from 1 to 6 and 4 is the worst from a "RE like" perspective. There, I said it.

So, after getting into a heated debate in the "how do you want capcom to handle RE2 remake" thread, I decided to buy both 2 and 3 and play through them again on the Vita to see the side of the arguement other people were on.

After beating 2, I'm doubling down and saying that a hybrid camara angle that offers a mix of third person and static isometric angles like the early version of Resident Evil 4 would by far be the best.

Those who said it simply wouldent work are full of s@#%. There are several areas in the game where there is no benefit to original camera angle at all, and just comes off as annoying when your trying to aim and shoot offscreen.

Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer. I have posted on NeoGAF since 2011, and have decided to resign. I have enjoyed posting about horror games here for years, but I no longer wish to support the site and will be leaving for good. I will still be around the internet, I go by AestheticGamer on YouTube, I make games on Steam as Yai Gameworks, and I plan to go by Dusk Golem on other forums. I'll be joining an off-set of the GAF community leaving to try other ventures like ResetEra (Official Twitter for that here: https://twitter.com/reseteraforum ). I hope some of you who read this may consider it, and I plan to try to expose more people to horror games in the years to come. Just not here.

I hope you all are having a good day, and know I always loved the community, and in the end it's the community I'm going to stick with, not the site itself. If you want to follow me, my official Twitter is here: https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1

Ya know. I agree. Cold Fear had the right idea with it's hybrid camera. But with a fixed camera angle, you also end up limiting the combat system. Especially if you want to keep limbshot melees.

I'm in. I'm the weird type of fan that there hasn't been a Resident Evil game I straight-up dislike. Even my least favorite entry (Gun Survivor 2) has stuff I enjoy about it, and I'm just ehh on.

I do hope Resident Evil 7 has more horror tones, but if I can be honest, Resident Evil 5 and 6 I found to be incredibly fun co-op games, so I don't really want those to go away either. If I had the choice between a good horror Resident Evil game and a good co-op Resident Evil game, I'd choose horror any day of the week (horror is my enthusiastic passion, after all), but there's very little in the co-op field currently I find as fun as a co-op Resident Evil game. Ultimately I think Resident Evil 7 will have more horror tones than RE5 or RE6, but still be very much an action game with co-op, which I'd be fine with. I actually have this suspicion that they may be trying to reinvent the wheel again like Resident Evil 1 and 4 did, bring some radical change. Resident Evil 6 was kind of like that, but to a lesser extent (it was more trying to capture the RE4/5 formula and bring it to 'modern times' in my eyes, but missed the mark in several ways and wasn't tightly designed, despite me liking it). But I guess we'll see when we see.

I suspect we may see Resident Evil 7 around the Resident Evil 20th anniversary on March 22nd, it sounds like Capcom may be prepping some event or things to release around that time, and I wouldn't be surprised if RE7's reveal happened around then too.
RE7 could be anything. Feedback was all over the map, legacy games are all over the map, fans are all over the map.

And they've had a LOT of time to cook this one.

I wouldn't be surprised to be surprised when they finally show it. There is one lesson I've learned with this franchise: Keep an open mind.

I played RE1 through Code Veronica when they came out, then REmake and RE0. After that I stopped buying consoles and never had a PC capable of running the ports. Plus, I kind of fell into the notion that anything without tank controls wasn't a real RE anyway.

Last year was a revelaiton, however. I got a decent new PC, and soon after came Capcom's Humble Bundle which included with RE4, 5, Rev1, and Rev2, Ep1. My brother and I had always wanted a co-op survival horror game, so we decided to give Rev2 a try (thank you based Capcom for keeping split-screen in the PC version). I thought the asynchronous co-op would be a huge deterrent, but let me tell you, I've never been more scared and had more fun just pointing in my life. The story was a great throwback to the old games, and to my surprise I actually really loved the new controls. And then there was the Raid Mode, which my brother and I spent 40 hours on alone. The fire within was REvived.

After that came a marathon play-through of Rev1, 4, and 5 in that order. By the time I was done with those, 6 went on sale, and I knew I had to get it for more co-op goodness. It was a lot of fun, but a little too action heavy at times and I wasn't fond of the new characters. Having now played through all of the neo-RE games, I'd say Rev2 hit that perfect sweet spot between old and new, and I really hope Revelations 3 is in the works with Rebecca as the lead. The boys can have the numbered series, the queens of RE know where the real action is at.

What is there to explain? They were all pretty straightforward. Even the 5th ending was just a sequel hook.

The giant jello skello in an underwater super secret scientific base of operation.

Do you know how much money you would need to get that functioning, how large that place is. You would need like metal gear solid patriots money, ain't no way one dude from the congress was funneling money into this. That takes... that takes a lot of money, who... who , who were the people en masse that allowed that to happen. Because it wasn't just that one guy. There had to have been multiple people .It was under water, like at the bottom, seemed to stretch down quite far, and was housing something akin to a monster of legend.

Fucking Zero from metal gear solid must have been fronting the bill on this shit

No I got that part, I don't believe it was one person.

Neo umbrella has to be like some legion of doom shit. The money... the money needed to make that happen. Dude, dude.

The whole time playing those two endings i'm like " who.. who bought this ... who afforded this oh my god".

See before you put your evil base in a castle, you know something on land, or on an isolated island or in haunted house. Or kinda volcano. But this... that. An underwater base would hypothetically take a lot of money.

An ex higher up in Capcom talked about Capcom's take on the reception of Resident Evil 6, and their thoughts on Resident Evil 7 back in 2013, and mentioned Capcom thought horror was liable again, but pointed to Walking Dead and Tomb Raider as evidence of this, so take that as you will.

Other small mummerings and things, but nothing big recently.

Yeah I have a feeling that to them horror will just be different atmosphere. So rather than action movie RE6 more horror felt like RE4. Which still seems to be the best mix to me for pleasing both crowds.

1) Helena harper is da bess.

2) Hopeing the explain 2 of re6's endings at some point.

They should explain why Simmons chose to assassinate in the single most public way possible the President of the United States on top of a secret underground Zombie bunker lab built in his family's secret underground crypt.

Simmons, my man, that's guaranteed to get you exposed when they start digging through the rubble. Wait for the President to go anywhere else and then unleash the deadly virus. You got to think this through before doing evil bad guy stuff.

He could also, you know, just kill him in a normal way: poison, stabbing, a bullet to the head, push him from the top of stairs, whatever. He had Helena's sister, he could order Helena to do anything and then blame her. But no, he had to infect the whole town.

That's the thing. Killing the President in the most over-the-top nuke-it-from-orbit way possible is a pretty damn good way to cover your tracks.
The only reason they were able to prove his guilt at all is because of Ada. Otherwise Leon and Helena would've never found the evidence on their own.

Everything simmons did was just.....stupid.

His downfall was his Ada Wong fetish.

Seriously...what the fuck was up with that shit.

I have bioengineered a virus to create the perfect....Ada Wong!?

Don't have a problem with the camera or action elements, it's stuff like cigar chomping gatlin gun wielding zombies, yakuza zombies, plot departure (which only RE4 really did imo), military focus, things like that. Really stupid shit that is even dumber than the stupid shit you already find in the series. I think this can be done without stuff quite that dumb. Like it's still dumb and always has been but you can do atmospheric horror elements and action without going full retard. RE4 proved it at least with the village and Regenerator but then had other things like that President's daughter story and midget castellan characters and running from giant mecha statues and whatnot.

I don't even really dislike that stuff as it was entertaining, I'm just saying that the games can be horror and action based without being... what they've been; it's just that they've did a poor job at proving it. It's why Revelations 2 resonated with me a lot more. It still had a silly plot and plenty of silly elements, but IMO nothing too different from the kind of ridiculousness found in the earlier games and more grounded than 4-6, at least again that's how I felt. It didn't make me roll my eyes at beefy military zombies and just plain idiotic crap like that and felt much closer to a horror game thanks to the setting and general vibe.

Also the story was actually interesting with cool twists which isn't something I can say about the recent ones either. Moral of the story... Revelations 2 ftw I guess. It showed you can mix these things up. RE7 with that kind of story, settings, and so on but with even better gameplay and budget would be fucking fantastic.

To be fair, it was his assistant who made it. He just came up with the idea after the fact and rolled with it.

But on the other hand, there isn't a single villain in this series that hasn't done something stupid. The entire plot pretty much requires them to do stupid shit. Otherwise there'd be no game. No series.

Even by RE standards Simmons is outlandishly stupid.

And making the plot revolve around a fetish sex clone was a really, really bad call.

Yea, RE6 introduced a whole new group that I don't think has been mentioned before. Apparently they have a lot of pull and etc. I think they're trying to capture the feel of the cult from RE4 again. Probably learn more in RE7, but there are two antagonists now thanks to REV2, so I do wonder who will be the villain in RE7

The Family could've been a good addition to the series' lore, but having them being secretly pulling the strings of pretty much everything was a dumb idea.

And it's especially dumb that they killed Simmons the same game they introduced The Family. He could've been a good villain, had they spread him out a couple of games.

One of the game's files suggests that Simmons was actually replaced pretty quick. I guess he was considered expendable. So we might see them make a return in the near future.
