Nintendo announces 3DS Control Expansion Pack, details in OP, STOP POSTING SCANS

Update:

Confirmed.

It's a cradle that holds the 3DS and has both a second analog stick and an R2 button.

It adds about a centimeter to the left, an inch to the right, and an *additional* inch of thickness to the bottom of the unit, making the whole system almost 2 inches tall.

Here's a link to 01net's rumor that first spoke of this device and stated that it would later be integrated into a 3DS redesign/relaunch: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=441994

It looks like this:

This is where we are up to if you haven't been taking heed of 3DS news:

It roughly looks like this, *but notably thicker*:

Officially the cradle adds:
- A right analog slide-pad
- R1, R2, L2 shoulder buttons (the normal 3DS L1 button is not replaced)
- An earphone port at the bottom

Unannounced, but speculated based on CE Marks on the inside of the cradle:
- The cradle could be a battery pack or have a container for the battery
- The cradle also has wireless functions, possibly replacing those on the 3DS

New thread for new news. According to Adriasang, this week's Famitsu will detail the 3DS expansion previously reported by 01.net

Famitsu also has details on a new first party Nintendo peripheral that expands the 3DS with a second slide pad. This attaches next to the system's face buttons.

Here as well.

Misread the stuff.

well better now while the install base is small then waiting for a year down the line when it has a much larger base and more consumers miss out.

So far for the next gen of handhelds, it looks like Nintendo is screwing everything up and sony is actually doing stuff right lol.

This "add-on" better be free the early adopters if its gonna be mandatory in games.

So anyone waiting to buy a 3DS should probably just wait until the inevitable model with it built-in. Its gonna look hilarious and be awkward attached to old/current 3DS' I bet. Theres not exactly room for it.

If true and been announced soon; wouldn't surprise if part of the reason is because of the; also rumored Monster Hunter Tri G. Wouldn't surprise me if it's bundled with it too.

After all, Capcom/Monster Hunter Tri had input and was part of the reason the Wii got the Classic Controller Pro.

AceBandage is FREAKING OUT! :D

Not at all.
Just wondering why Nintendo would reveal a new add on to their system in Famitsu (a magazine that rarely gets Nintendo exclusives) a week before a major event.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
I can't even wrap my mind around this shit.

3DS slide pad attachment has an R2 button attached to it. So 3DS will have L1, R1, R2 but no L2. It will be to the right of ABXY buttons, according to some ASCII art renditions.

It's getting even better now. It says the thing has a shoulder button. Are they going to put it in the top right corner and connect it to the power port?

Someone in the other thread brought up that this attachment might just be something Capcom is bundling with MH3G. I think that's a possibility worth considering.

I'm totally fine with this as long as they keep giving us free games :lol

"We're REALLY sorry we're making a revision so quickly, here's 50 free games, the BS Zeldas, and Mother 3."

Are you really going to ignore something coming from multiple sources all at once, all citing Famitsu? It's confirmed.

Second worst system from Nintendo since the virtual boy, semi-confirmed?
You must mean sales-wise, cuz the Virtual Boy wasn't all THAT bad functionally. Had some pretty good games, too.

It's coming from a single source, though...

Most likely.
