Fortnite: Battle Royale |OT| 100 Players on Epic Battlegrounds

Wow I was watching some fortnite clips on twitch and somehow was lead to the "softcore" porn section of clips very quickly lmao...

Okay, but can I (as a PC player) just get the free BR mode tomorrow? Or is a purchase of the main (PVE) game required?

Once the update hits tomorrow you should be able to download the game and play the BR mode for free.

Just won another game.
To the last guy who was hiding behind a big tree ''sorry dude, that's not working in this game''.
Damn, i love this game!

I downloaded FortNite Early Access thing on PSN, will that update for this, or will it be a separate download?

Edit: Looks like it will just update the original game.

So since this will hit PS4 before PUBG, I wonder if it will satisfy those who, like myself, haven't been able to play PUBG. I'm really excited for this.

I guess I can't blame you for asking since the OT kinda lacks basic information (release date).

Sometime tomorrow, probably around 10am-2pm EST, they will put out an update to the game and at that point everyone should be able to play battle royale.

The XBox store website says (right now) that it will be unlocked in 22 hours and 23 minutes. Which would be tomorrow evening here in germany....

I hope it comes earlier to PS4.

(Just popping this on this page also, since I think a lot of people will be new to Fortnite with BR and interested in knowing what's planned or coming)

As someone new to Fortnite I found this recent blog post interesting.
Here are some key points:

Squads
Our big news is the initial version of Squads coming 9/26 with support for DBNO (down but not out), duos (2 players) and squads (1-4 players). Emphasis is on ”initial" as we are optimizing for getting the feature out ASAP and will continue to iterate and polish afterwards. The squads playlist will be enabled on 9/26 and we will monitor population numbers to decide when to enable duos. In-game communication (text, voice, hints, etc) is crucial for auto-filled teams and is next on the list.

Cheating and teams in solo play:
We stood up a system that will automatically and swiftly ban teamers. We've been manually running the detection tool to verify results and Player Support has been using the results to ban teamers for almost a week. The full automation will go live with the 9/26 update.

Cheating (aimbots, overlays, and such) is something we take seriously on both the legal and development front. Going free increases the challenge and is lighting a fire under our efforts. It is hard to talk about what we're doing here without making it easier for cheat creators... so we won't :) Cheaters are banned!

Coming with the free launch:
1) Squads!

2) A mid-range scoped assault rifle and a mid-range SMG to round out the weapon line-up.

3) HUD tweaks to make it easier to see markers and direction indicators.

4) Lots of other tweaks that will be documented in detail in our release notes.

Upcoming things:

Supply drops will allow introduction of some of the more zany weapons from the ”Save the World" Campaign, and help us tune the timing of when specific weapons drop during a match. Our internal playtests showed supply drops adding more excitement to the mid-game over the fight to secure them. Depending on how balancing and testing goes they might be in 9/26 or the following week.

Stats:

We love stats and analytics and will show you the basics over the next few weeks.

After providing stats we'll focus on Leaderboards / Scoreboards and Rankings. Leaderboards / Scoreboards reward successful placement and game actions, while Ranking is a direct reflection of your skill. We're evaluating algorithms for each of them and want to be careful we don't change the goal to be the last player standing.

Cosmetics:
Cosmetic items are coming soon. New glider skins are a first example of this and there will be other categories as well. This requires the ability to select and choose variations in the UI, and of course a way for you to earn them by playing the game.

Improvements Mentioned (yet to come):

  • Combat Feel
  • More Servers
  • Controller Layouts
  • Performance

They really, really need to improve weapon feel, as it just feels...cheap right now.

No, it's one client. Expect a game update tomorrow, however.

I really don't know if that's a good idea for a long and big success. It could be quite confusing for people that you have to download the normal free Fortnite client in order to play the F2P Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Also presenting it in the XBL or PSN store could also be quite difficult in that way. :/

Got into the top 3 twice and both times I came across a teaming pair.

Best tip I can give for new players is to get out of the bus early and glide for a house at the edge of the map. Far away from the buses path and away from groups of houses or large structures. I often go for the 'lonely Lodge' or a house near the woods and very rarely have someone drop in close to me.

I dropped in on the flush factory once when the bus was right over it and there must have been 20 people there. It was carnage. Never again.

Since PlayerUnknown doesn't want my money on PS4, I guess this is what I'll play to see what all the fuss is about.
It's not that they don't want our money, it's that they are barely big enough to handle the development of two platforms at one time let alone three.

no 1st person mode. It's all third person and I'm not sure they have even discussed adding in 1st person mode in the future.
Doesn't Fortnite already have a functioning option to play in first person? Does that option not work here?

Is there something to download now if you're just waiting for F2P? Want to preload it if I can, but not spending any money on it yet.

Those patch notes make me so fucking excited for this game.

Holy hell that is a lot more stuff that I thought it would be. Plus Supply drops are coming tomorrow!!

Foot dust no longer kicks up when crouched, aiming down sights or making small movements.
While using Health and Shield items, you can now move your character a short distance without cancelling the action.

That's awesome. Always sucked trying to be sneaky and the foot dust giving my position away.

So is there any real reason to use the base building here or is it kinda pointless in this mode?

It comes in handy. Specially if you are in the final circle. Also popping up a wall for cover in the middle of a field is a life saver as well.

Also I have the distinct feeling this is going to be their primary dev focus now and the main PvE game will go the way of H1Z1's old primary mode.

This is much funner than the PvE mode, but with a lot of fine tuning and a revamp of the systems the PvE can be just as good. Right now it's an unfun grind.

I think it may overtake the xbx version of pubg. I'm excited that you get to experience this for the first time!

That's not how this works....it's a huge game and the reason they're able to get it up and running on XB1 so fast is due to MS sending devs over collaborating and sharing tech with them.

I'm not sure if it's available in the BR mode. In PvE I've never used it but to my knowledge it's not really a fleshed out view.
Yea I noticed that they don't have any first person animations.

Hold up, it's out?
