The top three are all new entries this week with ‘Saints Row IV’ landing at No1, followed by ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist’ at No2 and ‘Disney Infinity’ at No3.

‘Saints Row IV’ is the 4th biggest launch of the year so far (behind Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us). It fails to outperform the debut of predecessor ‘Saints Row: The Third’, but is still the second best launch for the controversial series. Taken over from THQ by Deep Silver/Koch, it is the ambitious publisher’s third different title to reach No1 in the All Formats chart this year (the others being Dead Island Riptide and Metro Last Light). This is a feat only matched by EA. Sales were split 69% on Xbox 360 and 31% on PS3. The highly anticipated ‘Disney Infinity’ opens strongly, selling 3.6 times more starter pack units at launch than the original Skylanders. It performed best on Xbox 360 with a 43% share, then PS3 at 22%, Wii 21%, Wii U 10% and 3DS 4%.

Last week’s No1, ‘Payday 2’ (-76%) tumbles to No18 while the rest of the Top 10 mostly shuffles amongst themselves. ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’ (+3%), ‘Black Ops II’ (-17%), ‘FIFA 13’ (-14%) and ‘Animal Crossing: New Leaf’ (-9%) all drop two places to No’s 4, 5, 6 and 7 respectively. ‘Lego Batman 2’ (+1%) is a non-mover at No8 ahead of ‘The Last of Us’ (-9%) at No9. 2K Games/Take 2 enter the chart at No10 with ‘The Bureau: Xcom Declassified’ and there is also a new face at No22; the Wii U exclusive ‘The Wonderful 101’.

As I was saying, it's not that bad for W101 at all, imho.
It's a new IP, niche game, strange design, on a struggling platform. Not the kind of game that can help the system, but more the kind of game that suffers the system. Despite it, it charts, doing better then other Wii u and Vita games.
Curious how Disney Infinity charts better on Xbox360 and PS3, while in Holland it charted only for Wii. In UK even the Wii U version charts, and I've read the the numbers compared to the Skypander debut are good, so I think that Disney is happy about it (especially if it will have legs, maybe on Nintendo platforms as Skylander, due to the demographic?)

If Nintendo shipped the game to more stores (I can find it only in two stores/chains here in Belgium atm), then it would have done better. They are relying heavy on eShop sales these weeks and for the future. (not saying those numbers are massive, but it would give us a better look at those things) The small stock is a very smart thing to do, because the game won't end in the budget bin that often :)

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
W101 charted around 85th-91st on Amazon.co.uk in its week debut. And Disney Destiny was at 20th with the 360 SKU, the others following...
This seems to be a big indication that Amazon.co.uk charts are so fulled with PS4/One stuff (games, consoles) that they "pollutes" indications coming from them.

This is a dark path of excuses and obfuscated numbers to walk. Its best to just accept it was always going to bomb, and that it did bomb.

I know these are not good results but seeing 101 in the UK top 20 and performing better than a new 360 release is a nice surprise. I was expecting a bigger bomba here.

Not a great number for TW101, but I didn't expect it to be in the upper half of the charts considering the Wii U situation in UK

Payday 2 drop seems rather huge, but the game was profitable before hitting store shelves. And I just realized that XCOM is out, wow - expected way more from this considering the delays

I was just saying that Amazon.co.uk charts must be looked at differently now, since PS4/One are altering the usual trends and positions, seriously.

7 in the top 40 19 total in the top 100 atm, it's not so much polluted by only ps4/xone but all the other upcoming stuff like gta, battlefield, cod, Fifa etc.

Last week it was greatly polluted by PS4/Xone stuff, as well as the other titles you said. However, things changed a little since two-three days ago, when lots of already released / upcoming titles saw their prices lowered.

It wasn't alot different there is very little available for purchase for the next gen systems that isn't in the charts still. Most of what isn't in there wasn't in their last week or was well outside the top 40 that you were talking about.

Those TLoU drops are very small. It's had great legs. I think once it's gets a good price drop it'll stay around for a very long time.

I think that's the best anyone could hope for with 101. It's in the Top 20 on a struggling platform. It'll probably dop right off the charts next week though as all the core audience will have bought it week one.

Disney Infinity isn't a game that's going to do gangbusters out of the gate and certainly not in the summer. It'll pick up steam with word of mouth and it'll probably sell steady from now till Xmas. It'll probably eat into Skylanders sales too. I don't think they both can exist and do tremendously well, especially with how expensive it all is. It's really one or the other.

People still think Amazon ranking is a relevant thing? It is so irrelevant that it doesn't even need any explanation.

I think it is a very good result for W101, considering that it charted rather highly in a week with a few major releases, and that the eShop promotion (Buy pikmin, get 30% of W101), has moved a noticeable number.

Damn, Xillia dropped quick, a shame.
101 did really bad even for a niche game (edit: thought it was lower, that's not too bad I guess).
TLOU still nº1 in Italy and still holding on well in other countries, to think it's still at full price, by the time it hits the bargain bin it will be one of the PS3's best selling games ever.

"It fails to outperform the debut of predecessor ‘Saints Row: The Third’, but is still the second best launch for the controversial series."

However Deep Silver spent a fraction of the marketing that THQ spent. Very well done!

only relevant ranking from Amazon is their overall rankings for the year (top 100)... their top lists are famous for being not relevant.

I think the most damning thing in there for the Wii U is not The Wonderful 101 position, or Pikmin 3's disappearance from the top 40, but the complete absence of the Wii U version of Splinter Cell.

Clover curse still alive and real. Welcome to the joys of tracking their games, new Nintendo fans in the fold.

Platinum's games have all been received well critically, but commercially I don't think they've had a single hit outside of MGR - which could be argued was carried to success on the weight of its name.

It's a shame, I think these types of games would have been successful in the PS2 era. I personally think they'd work extremely well as a SCE first party studio. I'm not sure who else would give them the long-term support. Perhaps Nintendo will, we'll see.

Well there you have it, a third party supporting the platform with a new release. But to no success. And then people wonder why EA don't see it as a financially viable platform. Nintendo need to be pulling out all the stops to turn Wii U around, but I get the feeling even they have given up and it'll remain on life-support Gamecube style for a few years.

Not sure if TW101 at 14 is an outright bad thing considering it's ilk. It could have done better but at the same time I expected it to be much worse. Odd one.

I hope word of mouth can keep the title afloat for a while in other regions.

A number 14 debut is definitely bad though it could of done much worse.

14th is better than I thought beforehand. Still sucks that this masterpiece don't get the recognition in sales that it deserves..

At least we have this magnificent game now!!!!! :D

No it's the most expensive game platinum has ever made I believe, there is no spin on this; it's a massive bomb.

A game with dildos and dubstep guns on top and a game like TW101 outside the top 10.

That about sums up todays console gaming.

There's still hope for a little less W101 bombing in the Nintendo friendly countries next week
:(

The Bomberful 101?
Media Create numbers tomorrow also won't be nice.

The Bureau bombed even worse. Maybe publishers will learn not to shoehorn old franchises into other genres. Enemy Unknown did well.

Care to lend me your time machine? We have no numbers how many units it sold and you are already declaring it a massive bomb? We also have no idea what budget it had, being PG's biggest doesn't say much, no, it doesn't say anything at all. Also, this game hasn't even been released in NA yet and that is the only region it will sell okay-ish. I'm not defending the low sales, I honestly didn't expect anything from the UK, but declaring it a massive bomb after a few days is ridiculous. Nintendo obviously didn't expect this game to sell in the millions and probably doesn't care too much about it's numbers at the moment, but is trying to keep it around and sell it for months to come at nearly full price.

Judging by the first couple of days sell-through in Japan, I wouldn't hold your breath.

I wouldn't want to hold your breath either.. :p

And yeah, no reason to shit on SR4, w101 should have been up there holding its hand

I'm not holding my breath for great numbers. (I never did, I'm following these guys since the Capcom days, I know what's up) But perhaps for something better than a UK-like, full blown death in France, Germany,..

You're just begging for an avatar quote aren't you?

I think the most damning thing in there for the Wii U is not The Wonderful 101 position, or Pikmin 3's disappearance from the top 40, but the complete absence of the Wii U version of Splinter Cell.

This is a good point since UBI has mentioned that they're going to review the platform at the beginning of next year. I think Rayman, AC4 and Watch_Dogs are much more critical though. Splinter Cell didn't have much hype going for it, but Rayman is receiving hugely positive reviews and the other two are among the most anticipated games of the year. Those need to perform well on the platform.

Haha please, it's a massive bomb.
