Rumour: New GoldenEye for Wii (even PS3 and Xbox 360)

Is a new GoldenEye coming to the Nintendo Wii and possibly the Xbox 360 and PS3?

According to the CV of Craig Peck, animator at Eurocom Entertainment Software, a new GoldenEye game is in development for the Nintendo Wii.

Activision leaked their plans to release a new James Bond game earlier in the year, with 2010 as its intended release date. Peck's CV is the first indication that it might be another GoldenEye video game entry.

The N64 game GoldenEye 007, developed by Rare, is regarded as a classic, after being received incredibly well by critics.

Pecks CV (resume) writes:

"Eurocom Entertainment Software, Derby, United Kingdom: July 09 – Sept 09 Animator – GoldenEye 2010 (Wii) - Animator on Activision’s James Bond series for the Nintendo Wii."

Speculation about PS3 and 360 too.

Peck's own website has now been taken offline. http://www.peckanimation.com/

It seems like they are just branding it "GoldenEye" to ride off of the success of the N64 game. It is Activision after all and will most likely be nothing like the N64 GoldenEye. Another quick cash in for Avtivision.

It'll probably be an average game at best. If an HD remake isn't going to happen then they should just let it go. GoldenEye was great but come the fuck on. People need to move on.

Yep. Would be a huge mistake to bring it back. The game holds many fond memories for people, but it doesn't hold up at all. Even if the resulting game were significantly better, the nostalgia would overpower most and it would be thought of as sub-par.

Just leave it alone.

Not like Goldeneye had any unique or awesome mechanic that the next generation could build upon to make a fresh FPS. It would be a trite FPS by today's standards. Not sure how it could pray to compete against the current FPS juggernauts like CoD and Halo.

If it was an XBLA/Wii remake, I'd be all over it. But since that's not going to happen, why bother making another Bond game and renaming it Goldeneye? Makes no sense.

But count me down as one of the few people who actually enjoyed Quantum of Solace. It was rushed out the door, but was still really fun.

Son, just because it doesnt have any flashy weapon physics or dynamic cover system does not mean it can't stack up to todays shooters.

Goldeneye was a brilliantly designed single player game. The way the objectives stacked up in each mission was incredibly creative, and the way that each difficulty level had more and ore new content was a joy to behold, and added incredible replay value for the single player.

Is Goldeneye primitive compared to the mechanics of today's shooters? Sure. Does its level design shit on almost all single player FPSs still? Hells yeah.

If Eurocom works on the Wii version, could it be that Bizarre is working on the 360/PS3 versions of this one? I heard such a rumor.

I'm not quite sure how it follows that if a Wii version is in development, a PS3 and 360 version must also be in the works as well. Either way, have Eurocom developed anything decent?

I don't understand why people say Goldeneye doesn't hold up. I play it to this day and it shits all over modern shooters. Of course, the mission structure is old, but that doesn't mean it is outdated, and level design is better than almost all current gen shooters.

Of course, PD is superior in every way, but that is a discussion for another thread.

Eurocom doesn't make me interested, even after DSE.

Lol? Son? Get off your high horse dicksausage because I played Goldeneye for literal hours every day back in the summers during school break. Goldeneye's single player design is only fantastic for rose colored glasses. The silo sucked, the underground fortress sucked and I'm sure there was plenty more suck to go around. The dam and the facility were really the only two that come to mind as well thought out and designed missions. Modern Warfare took a big hairy crap ontop of Goldeneye in both MP and SP mechanics. Goldeneye's only true strongpoint was the fact that it had flawless 4player simultaneous co-op. Even then I couldn't stand playing the MP unless the one bullet-one kill rules (License to Kill iirc) was turned on. It's second best feature would probably be it's fantastic controls and multiplayer map layouts. I played through the singleplayer quite a few times but never remember going "Oh man! This is great!" More like .... when do my friends come over.

Goldeneye has got to be the most nostalgic game on the planet. It was good and could probably be regarded as the best movie licensed game ever but it is far from the 'perfect FPS experience' I see it hailed as on GAF.

They should work on a proper Quantum of Solace game.. not one that is 75% Casino Royale stuff.

On the same hand, Eurocom was the company behind Everything or Nothing, right?

Eurocom = not good sign.

Hopefully they'll put in the MW Wii control scheme, though. That's one part that could work out real well with it coming from Activision. :)

Nope; that was an EA Redwood Shores (now Visceral Games)/EA Canada co-production. You're probably confusing it with The World is Not Enough, which was all Eurocom.

this.

Seeing that Dead Space.jpg makes me remember I need to get that game out of my backlog and finish it.

Goldeneye for 360 would be awesome.

In all fairness to Eurocom, TWINE was a solid game that had a lot of notable improvements over the original GoldenEye. You just never hear about them because of how strong the nostalgia factor has been for GE ever since it came out in '97. I'm not saying this as some sort of guarantee that this new game is going to be great; just that a good Bond game wouldn't be a new thing for the developer.

Oh, I forgot that Eurocom also did Nightfire, which was also a very solid Bond game.

What are we worried about with them being the developer on any version of the game again?

Agreed. I had a lot of fun with TWINE. If I recall correctly, they were given the opportunity to make the following Bond game too, but they declined. It's funny how things come round full circle.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Guys, come on. That last "Goldeneye" was made by EA, this new Goldeneye will be made by Activision.

Totally different situation.
