Great new OT Big Takeover!

You wanted some bike sims:

GP Bikes by Piboso is a realistic motorcycle simulator, based on a scratch built physics engine that accurately simulates motorcycle dynamics and setup options. In beta, GP Bikes costs 26 Euro for a 'full' licence and a limited functionality trial is also available.

On the sem-sim side, long standing motorcycle racing specialist Milestone have the latest in their take on MotoGP with MotoGP '14. The game includes all the teams, riders and circuits from the 2014 MotoGP World Championship and include all 3 classes. New features include new audio and graphics engines and revamped physics.

Awesome work with the new thread!

I've been on a bit of a hiatus when it comes to sims, probably subconsciously waiting to get a new wheel for my setup. Scary part is that even the new clubsport base doesn't seem unattainable, but looks like it would take ages to get one delivered.

Superb OP, Big Takeover! :D

To all new readers: if any part of you is considering trying Game Stock Car Extreme, do it. I wasn't going to try it before being convinced to in the old thread and I absolutely love it now.

Awesome work, Big Takeover!

The header made me think that I should probably try to whip up a NeoGAF livery for Project Cars (when I have time, which unfortunately doesn't look like the near future), any particular cars you'd like to have painted?

Picking up a Thrustmaster TX tomorrow, should go nicely with the CSR elite's and TH8RS shifter.

The Xbox One support is a nice bonus, I can try out Forza 5 and Horizon 2 with it, but I'll have to use the terrible plastic pedals.

My PWTS has started double shifting with the paddles so I figured it's time. I'll probably fix it at some point by changing the micro switch in the paddle and sell it.

EDIT: Put in a pre-order for the adapter (from Basherboards) to hook the CSR Elite's to the TX. I hope he makes an adapter to get the TH8RS hooked in to the TX also.

Good stuff, Arucardo! Enjoy!

The Capri! That'll be my answer for everything :p

Seriously though, that would be great. Pick a car you like.

Does anyone know if there are any good guides to design a half-decent car livery?

I know how to put custom skins into games, but all of my efforts are either extremely basic and uninteresting or look like something a 12 year old threw together on photoshop.

A free game on a disc? WHAT?!
The Google translation from FB I posted in the old OT thread - it doesn't make a whole lot of sense however from what I understand the DVD version will be available only in Brasil (as is the case for Game Stock Car) with the idea being you visit the auto show the photo was taken at & pick up a free copy or wait with the ROTW and obtain the sim via download.

Yeah, I went to their FB page and read that. I was about to translate it for english when someone called for a pizza. Sorry about that.

They said that Petrobras was giving these discs on their booth there on São Paulo Auto Show.

This series started in 2011, so it's pretty new, and basically nobody gives a damn about it yet. So they're basically trying to make it known, which is nice.

EDIT: LOL, just found my tweet asking them for including the series on GSC last year: https://twitter.com/DD_Sardi/status/391327291080331265

This is for iRacing with Trading Paints, but it might apply to what you're looking for.

Bought the TX wheel today. Now I need to do some drilling since my Rennsport stand doesn't have premade holes for the T500/TX. Hopefully I can find decent drill bit that can go through the wheelstand plate.

Hahaha that gif!

I thought I had it too! I was watching my F3 display over the line and thought it changed just in time... I got such a good run out of the last corner. Bah! Why did they have to put the line there? Oh well...was a lot of fun, and unlike Felipe that result puts me at the top of the standings... I doubt it will last, but it's a short season so there's a small chance. I'll keep pushing :)

Un-fucking-believable! I really thought you had him. Seriously, I thought they got the call wrong :(
God damn, I will never get over that moment. I think you'd really have to be an F1 fan to understand the significance of it.

I'll have to watch Betta's race now. I've watched a lot of the ones he's posted here before and I haven't regretted it once. Its nice watching fairly competent guys race, even in video games.

Oh man, it was certainly one of the most dramatic things I've ever seen in sports. Right up there with my Red Sox or Man City, or whatever else you want to include. Just outrageous. Championship won/lost in the last corner, of the last lap, under incredible circumstances. I'm not sure we'll ever see that again in our lifetimes.

Yeah, they're fun to watch. I never pegged myself as someone who would like watching e-sports type things, but I've got to admit I definitely get it now. Watching DotA or CS goes a bit over my head, but racing, that I understand.

Positional tracking got patched into iRacing today. Yeah, baby.
After a day of marvelling at science, suddenly the addition of positional tracking doesn't seem all that exciting. But I gave it a quick go and it works as one might expect, so that's good. Annoyingly they've artificially limited the amount you can lean around, and they've given it a hard stop, the very thing you're supposed to avoid. Presumably this is for a couple of reasons - they don't want you to see that the cars aren't fully modelled on the outside from cockpit view, and they don't want anyone 'cheating' by creating a 'hood cam' or any other kind of beneficial view from exploiting the positional tracking in the official series. Fair enough, but they could make the boundary a little bit bigger... and they should make it completely unrestricted for the replay cameras.

Science was indeed glorious today.

Tried it too, and had the same take. 95% of the time it's great, but hitting the limiter is a drag. It turns your brain to mush. East to west isn't bad, but the north/south limit is very narrow. Too narrow.

I see their insistence as kind of boogieman-ish, but it's consistent with how they do things. Maybe I underestimate the number of people looking to be stupid with the views.

It's definitely better than before however. A step forward in usability. Need that virtual mirror, and the arms reanimated however before she's gold.

Latest from Tony Gardner, iRacing president:
As far as features, yes working on DX11 and ground work for Open GL as well. We are working on a whole new and improved damage model. Both physical and graphical. Car parts will fall-off car appropriately based on physics and the physics will be better (we hope!) Making good progress on a new track surface model. Again both physical and graphical. Track will marble up, rubber and dust will fly and all that, track will heat up and cool down in a much better way, etc. These things should add some great additional dynamics to the racing, not to mention some realistic cool eye candy. Anther big project in the works is animation. Pit crews for example, a great collaboration between our engineers and art guys. Again making good progress and VERY excited about all three of these projects. The physics guys also have technical projects in the works under the hood working on the overall models. Tires obviously the big one still. Well that is not enough for now. Almost all of this has been leaked out in various places but thought would put it one place. I have no idea when any of it will be done. Maybe it never will but that is what we are working on that I'm willing to talk about right now because good progress being made. Oh yes and working on a whole new User Interface but again that is a big project involving multiple groups of people. We also are working on the actual iRacing site behind the scenes in terms of stability, efficiency, downtime minimization risk, etc

This was mostly known, but dotted around the forum across months/years of staff posts, so nice to have it all summarised.

But this is iRacing development in a nutshell: "I have no idea when any of it will be done. Maybe it never will" >_<
