Mass Effect Andromeda Ryder Family Screenshot Thread

Yeah, they could easily fix that by adding different types of brows, eyes, noses and mouths. I mean, they could do that in the trilogy, why not here? We're basically stuck with the types that comes with each presets.

because the game is rushed, as also evident by the fact that we'll get more character customization options a bit later on in a patch (meaning Bioware Montreal somehow didn't have the time to make a up-to-standard character creator in time for release)

You'd think that with 5 years of development, there would be plenty of time for thing like a standard character creator or animations that are at least better than the original trilogy. So I'm guessing this game ran into some issues in the middle of the project, EA got tired of spending money on it after 5 years and told Bioware to ship it no matter how much polish was left to do.

Like I've mentioned elsewhere, this would explain the weird marketing, the ongoing departures from key people throughout the project, the sudden announcement of a release date (EA got tired of waiting on Montreal and said ship it), the animation bugs in high profile marketing trailers such as the Game Awards, the weird first gameplay reveal as a contextless PS4 Pro tech demo, and the final product having severe flaws that normally wouldn't get accepted in a AAA release.

Oh, really? When did they say this?

Hopefully we can alter appearance on already made characters, if so.

Definitely makes sense. There's a solid game underneath all the jank, but the jank might turn a lot of people off.

all makes sense now. I'll still cop sometime later when all the kinks are smoothed out

is there no way to start with default femryder and then make a simple adjustment or 2?
it seems like i have to attempt to recreate her from nothing which isnt happening

I think I'll definitely go with a brother ryder judging by the results in this thread.

You guys are having a lot of trouble making sister ryders as far as I can see, especially the non east asian ones.

The character creator isn't exactly the most flexible ever, but I'm pretty happy with what I've managed so far:

Except this guy.

i get a final fantasy XV vibes when it comes to level of polish from that.

Quick question. Can you use default Ryder as a base and go from there?

So could I choose default male Ryder then add a couple of tattoos and scars and be done?

Pretty happy with Ms Ryder so far. Looking to specialise in swords and snipers if that's possible? Eye colour is prob the only thing I'll change once I get the game

Forgot to get a close up of Scott but here he is anyway

No bald cap? Lies!
Seems like Asian Sara has a really strong showing so far, followed by Black Sara/Scott.

I was kind of hoping to create a ME/Indian looking Sara after my latest run of FO4 I went with something similar that I really liked.

Has anyone tried totally different Sara and Scotts. Like super white Sara and super black Scott to see how Alec turns out? I know they mostly take from which you take, but would still be interesting to see how they handle it. Was thinking of going with mixed family.

(Looks okay, but I wish I could go back and shape that forehead and change the eye colour slightly).

Didn't realize I wouldn't be able to snap the same photos of sis and pops after starting the game, so will update later.

I definitely agree with the Asian preset being really nice for SisRyders. Wasn't planning on making her Asian but it was the best character I could make, and she doesn't look as derpy in the cutscenes as the others I tried out.

Forgot to get a close-up of Sara's face. I'm not really happy with either of the twins but it was the best I could do with the game's terrible character creator.

This Scott looks really good, although high graphics settings help too. How long did you spend in the creator?

Why is facial hair so bad in the game? Most of it looks like a tattoo gone bad or a paint spray. There's no texture there, just something flat painted on the face :/

Great looking Sis-Ryder!!

Something I am noticing. All the asian Ryders look fine, cute even...
I sense bias... either on devs or my part >_>

There's one Asian female preset that lends itself to making a nice looking/cute(depending on your opinion) character quickly. I don't think I spent more than 10 minutes on mine. Really looking forward to the possibility of more sliders.

I tried for far longer with a Caucasian looking female preset, and couldn't get close to a look that I liked Lol. Glad I gave up and tried that one Asian female preset.

I'm not sure. I do remember trying out a few different bases and I spent a good deal of time on one of them before deciding that the base was rubbish and starting over. I'd guess I spent 30 to 40 minutes inside the CC in total (including the face I binned and Sara)? Not sure, though. (EDIT: Had a look at some of the timestamps on my screenshots and I think it may have been closer to 50 minutes.) The fact that the number of options/sliders is relatively small means that going through all of them doesn't take that long.

Having finished all the story missions available in the trial, I've noticed that I overdid it a bit with the cheekbone width, though. (It's not terribly noticeable in those screens but it can look odd from certain angles.) So I'll at the very least edit him a bit more once the Archives are up (which will probably mean that I'll have to replay these first few missions but better that than having to play through the rest of the game constantly staring at a face I'm not happy with). Or maybe I'll end up going with the default Scott... not sure yet.

I might remake mine...

Male Ryders voice doesn't suit it at all. He sounds like nathan drake which just doesn't work for a big, scarred, black guy.

It's all a ruse to get us to play minority characters.

Here are some Ryder's I found by browsing Reddit.

Sis

Wow getting major Shepard vibes from that first fem Ryder, but just far better than any Shep you could create in the trilogy.

This CC I think will eventually be the shit. Please Bioware be able to patch the shit out of it.
