Spec Ops was good but IGN ?

Also i dont think they will have a lot of freedom considering Disney said it will be canon to universe.

Considering Spec Ops: The Line is one of my favorite stories in games ever, I'm quite excited to see what comes out of this.

Mitch looooooves Star Wars. Not "mentioned the OT a few times" loves, but "constantly talking about the novels and shit" loves. At worst he's probably a walking lore encyclopedia.

Also, the only thing I know about Star Wars is that Jar Jar is best girl but I loved Spec Ops so I'm looking forward to this.

Lucasfilm.

But it takes place after ROTJ and leads up to TFA so they'll have enough to play around with. Inferno squad is getting their own book as well.

Also, didn't Mitch leave IGN to work for ubisoft? Noticing a talent bleed from Ubi considering Mark Thompson was the narrative director on FarCry 4, and is now the narrative director on Battlefront 2.

I'd imagine that there's a decent amount of ex-Ubi staff at Motive, considering Jade Raymond started/is running that studio.

When Mitch was on Unlocked he had great ideas on what they should do with Battlefront(2015). No reason to doubt him. Just sounds like they got the right team.

I mean this is going to be true of nearly everyone in Montreal, because Ubisoft has a 3000+ person studio there, and you generally hire people who have experience when starting a new studio.

This could be so good. Wonder if there will be some scene where you and your stormtrooper mates go and massacre a village of furry animals because THEY'VE SEEN TOO MUCH.

As someone who skipped the first Battlefront because he heard there was no story mode to speak of, was there any single player at all in that game? I honestly had written off the sequel because I assumed there wouldn't be any story in this one either. Glad to be wrong about that.

it had some kind of missions , but no story in it .

This is hopeful news!

On a broader note, I really like how game developers are pushing writers into the limelight lately. A well-structured narrative and engaging characterisation are key gameplay components.

Well according to people in this thread, he is a walking Star Wars Encyclopedia, so its helpful on a narrative perspective.

But his IGN career is always summed up by people on GAF with the "Our eyes can't see 60 FPS" gif

They're writing a canon Star Wars story so of course they weren't going to allow it to be some garbage Battlefield 4 kind of story lol, should be fun.

Couldn't stand him at IGN but I'm not going to use what I think of him as a journalist against him when it comes to writing creatively, esp a fictional story with a cowriter.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Hope this turns out well. Spec Ops was awesome

No idea about Dyer's writing credentials but Spec Ops' story is pretty average besides the actual angle that story comes at you from. So, hopefully it'll be a fresh perspective on a Star Wars story.

Very skeptical after hearing of Mitch's involvement due to his lack of experience. Will be interested to see the results and I hope he proves me wrong.

The premise of the story seems to be kind of a spin on the Mara Jade story line in the now non-Canon Heir to the Empire Series. They better not fuck it up because Heir was actually amazing.
