Nice touch, I like you.

It would be really interesting to see a development cost estimate/profit estimate for the games on this list. Some are obviously cheaper to develop (handheld and Wii games) and those tend to sell many more copies. Yakuza 4 being the only 'HD' title in the top 10 and only 3 more present in the next 10 bestsellers.

So, GOW3 and Mass Effect 2 failed to impress the Land of the Rising Sun I suppose.

Is ME2 rated Z (18+) as well?

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.
No Xbox 360 games on that list. Hmmm, interesting.

The market in Japan is so much smaller than America.
The sale of the top selling game last month (Red Dead) is already higher than the biggest selling game of Japan culminated for 6 months.

Really happy to see that GvsGNP has continued to sell. I just hope it is enough to get them to port Ex Vs to Ps3.

Edit: Nevermind, I was thinking BB came out earlier then it did for some reason. Hell I even posted in the thread with the first week sales.

God just release over here already so I can buy it and start playing. The next two weeks can't go by fast enough.

Wow even the top ten seem low. How did games in Japan sell in the early 2000s when the PS2 was the most popular?

110k for XenoBlade so far? Pretty good.

A respectable number. I hope that keeps going up, though Japanese sales are usually done in bulk in the first month, so I don't expect it.

It would be Monolith's best selling game in a while though correct? Although I dont recall how Soma Bringer did, certainly in terms of console titles.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Yeah! Go SO4!

I have an HONEST (NON TROLL) question

How is it that a port of a Super Nintendo game is NEARLY selling up there with a mainline entry, when it is the same genre and same company (Dragon Quest VI vs. Final Fantasy XIII)

Is Japan that Dragon Quest crazy or do they love their portables that much? Was the feedback for FFXIII that bad? A combination of both?

I'm genuinely curious to this anomaly o_O

Final Fantasy has been on a downward trend for a while, and given DQIX, the Dragon Quest series is more popular than ever, so... yeah.

Other factors include DQVI never having been rereleased before, so unlike other ports it got a bit of pent up hype. And FFXIII... yes, it had pretty lousy word of mouth, and people starting reselling their games en masse. According to Japanese GAFfers the price for used games took a nosedive due to there being so many used copies.

The 2nd number indicates the total sales number.

I know that. Only four games selling over 1mil in six months still seems a bit low to me. Maybe I'm just used to all the press releases in the west about games selling millions in a month or two.

So somewhere down the road, NSMB will cross 6 million and SSBB will reach 2 when all is said and done. Really impressive.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
On a sadder note, we never got the top 500 from last year did we?
