Title: Planetside 2 | Developer: Sony Online Entertainment | Release date: Early 2014 | Genre: MMO FPS | Official Website | Platform(s):
anhq1ew.png

Media: CGI Trailer | 30 Min Gameplay Video

Synopsis
PlanetSide 2 is a re-imagining of PlanetSide, featuring the same world, factions and taking place at roughly the same time period. As in the previous game, it features territory control in an open-world, large battles featuring up to 2000 players per continent on foot or in land/air vehicles. The territory system differs greatly from that of the original, being more free-form and based on a hexagonal territory control system. SOE has been taking into account balance issues from the first game. As stated by creative director Matthew Higby, they reward combatants on lower population empires through mechanics such as proportionally increased advancement rates and resources to aid the balance of overall empire saturation on each server as much as possible without force-restricting players from being able to play with their friends.

It is a faster paced game than the original PlanetSide and holds the ability to feature potentially thousands of players. It also features familiar first person shooter elements such as sprinting, iron sights, and regenerating shields. An important aspect is that player skill and teamwork are major determiners when it comes to being able to kill other players and overcome opposing teams. Unlockable skills are available and are stated to only make between a 15-20% difference between any player[citation needed]. The game also features a day and night cycle, meaning that battles happen in different times of day, affecting the general methods for warfare.

The game will be set a millennium (1000 years) before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and around 800 years before The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, with the "Daedric Prince Molag Bal appearing as the main antagonist as he attempts to pull all of Tamriel to his realm of Coldharbour.

Most of the continent of Tamriel will be playable in the game (although much of it will be locked off for expansion content), and players will have the opportunity to join any of the three factions warring over the throne of the Emperor of Tamriel:[1] The Aldmeri Dominion (represented by an eagle), composed of Altmer (High elf), Bosmer (Wood elf), and Khajiit; the Daggerfall Covenant (represented by a lion), composed of Bretons, Redguards, and Orsimer (Orcs); and the Ebonheart Pact (represented by a dragon), composed of Nords, Dunmer (Dark elf) and Argonians.

anhq1ew.png
FAVk8Nr.png

Media: "Killing Monsters" Trailer | Debut Gameplay Trailer | Angry Joe Interview

Synopsis
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the recently announced third and final installment in the series of games by CD Projekt RED featuring witcher Geralt of Rivia. The game is scheduled to be released sometime in 2014 and will be set in an open world, unlike the previous games. The game will also be built using the new REDengine3. The game's atmosphere is set in the aftermath of the events of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The plot combines several storyline elements - with the two main ones being Nilfgaard's invasion into the Northern Kingdoms and Geralt's own quest to eliminate the Wild Hunt.

The game will introduce "a living open world larger than any other in modern RPG history." The setting is more than "30 times larger" than previous Witcher games, requiring players to catch a sailboat for some locations and ride horseback to others. However, fast travelling for the area of known locations is also possible. The Witcher 3 has been described as "20% bigger than Skyrim," and CD Projekt RED anticipates approximately 100 hours for the completion of the main story and open-world quests.

Hmm, only 6 I'd play on PS4 and only two I would pay money for (MLB The Show and Child of Light). Everything else I would play for cheaper on PC. =)

I hope this is going to be the 2007 of this gen.

At the very worst it'll wash the taste of the last few years away.

It would not surprise me if a few of these games get moved to 2015, like any other year you will have some games be moved farther down to avoid the COD or Halo (but mainly COD) onslaught in the holiday season.

Lots of new PS4 and Xbox One owners here now. With the year almost over, next year is when we'll start to get into the meat and potatoes of these babies. This thread here is a constantly changing cumulative list of what we can expect for our shiny new toys. I'll add and remove games as the year goes by.

Remember that many of these games are also coming to other systems, but we're focusing solely on the PS4 and Xbox One, so the "platforms" sections reflect that. Enjoy!

Rime, Shadow of the Beast, and Guilty Gear Xrd are also coming to PS4 in 2014.

Next year is looking great so far. Can't wait to see what's announced at VGX.

Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall, and Quantum may be enough to get me to buy an Xbox One by the end of next year. inFAMOUS and Destiny are why I bought a PS4 already. I love how a lot of the "smaller" games look.

Where's Japan?
We have a Metal Gear game.
We have Deep Down.
We have The Evil Within.
Were you expecting something more from the land of portables?

I'm sure we'll get an Ultra Street Fighter IV port. That counts, right?

Looking forward to playing some of these on my PC

EDIT: Really hope Deep Down doesn't stink as much I think it might.

It should be a good year.

Announced games I'm interested in:

- Infamous: Second Son
- The Order: 1886
- Watch Dogs
- Uncharted
- Rime
- The Witcher 3
- UFC 14

I will check out some others like The Evil Within, Destiny, Dying Light, Thief and Dragon Age but the above are ones I'm really looking forward to. There are plenty of other games announced not contained in the OP also so it's shaping up to be a good year. Especially so considering we likely have announcements to look forward from Rocksteady and others.

Who knows, maybe the impossible will happen and the WWE game may actually look better than a PS2 entry. I pray for this more than anything else

JESUS, the graphics for "Titanfall" doesn't really look any better than a Free2Play game like "Planetside 2".

Lot of PS4 games missing there. RIME, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Shadow of the Beast(It is 2014 isn't it?), Lilly Bergamo, Galak-Z and a bunch of other indie titles... in addition to plenty else. Not complaining, just saying, bro :)

Great line up even with that... and still full Uncharted reveal to come as well. Gonna be a sweet ride.

I definitely think they look better for Titanfall, but at the same time if you've played Planetside 2 and seen exactly how huge the battles are you sort of understand why the graphics aren't over the top crazy in terms of effects and lighting. It's really impressive on that level. Those Titanfall screens are also a tech demo though.
