Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance’ (-33%) continues to strut its stuff at the top of the All Formats Chart for a second week, well ahead of ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ (-10%) which just manages to sneak past ‘Wii Fit Plus’ (-17%) to claim No2.

It is the first Ubisoft title since the original ‘Assassin’s Creed’ to hold on to the top spot for more than one week. Last week ‘Just Dance’ recorded the highest ever sales for a game in the 2nd week of the year and this week the only game to sell better in week 3 is ‘World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade’ back in week 3 2007. It is traditionally a quiet time of year for both sales and new releases and 2010 is no exception as the top sellers all jostle for position amongst themselves. The Top 10 is made up of games from only 3 different publishers this week with Nintendo still well represented with 4 titles.

‘Wii Fit Plus’ may have dropped one place to No3, but ‘Wii Sports Resort’ (-12%) holds on to No5, while both ‘New Super Mario Bros.’ (-12%) and Mario Kart Wii’ (-12%) jump back into the Top 10, up 4 places to No7 and 2 places to No10 respectively. Ubisoft have two other Top 10 games with ‘James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game’ (-23%) up one place to No8 and ‘Assassin’s Creed II’ (-20%), also up one place, to No9. EA are this week’s only other Top 10 publisher as their new release from last week ‘Army of Two: The 40th Day’ (-16%) holds on to No4 - in contrast to last week’s other major new game ‘Darksiders’ (-48%) from THQ which drops out of the Top 10, down from No6 to No11. No Top 40 title manages to gain sales this week, however there is one newcomer, ‘Dark Void’ from Capcom at No33.

I don't know about your place but here Forza is bundled, so it could be the bundle selling more than the game.

Dear god Mario Kart rear its ugly head again in the French top 5, when will it stop selling?

Is this the longest time a PS3 exclusive has remained in the top 40? It's been moving about since release.

New owners + GoTY buzz = consistent sales.

Shortages for NSMBWii in the UK?

Bad debut for Dark Void... Of course, critical reception was poor just as well. How many of these outsourced to Western Developers games have turned out well aside from remakes?

It only had a -12% decrease. It's not too bad considering you know, it's this time of the year.

I think we'll see these same titles for quite a while.

And bad for Dark Void, but then again, it wasn't well received was it?

Since when have IGN had any incentive to cater to non-hardcore games that don't advertise on their network?

Sales should continue to do well, but more over half term. It's really doing the numbers according to the blurb but I'm in Eastern Europe at the moment so have no idea what the current buzz is in stores.

It's an old-school videogame...

...you know, when videogames used to be about fun.

Just Dance fits in with Nintendo's 'perfect family experience' positioning more-so than most other third-party games.

Wii Sports/Sports Resort for the boys, Wii Fit for Mum, Just Dance for daughter, NSMBWii for everybody...

First it would have to be a video game for your post to make sense. Just Dance is more like watching a video of some guy dancing and then mimicking the moves. :p

Yep, it held for a longer time, and even came back in the charts at some point. although to be fair, U2's price point is much higher.

Of course Just Dance is a video game - it utilises a risk-reward structure (albeit a rather simple, and perhaps abstract, one), much like every other game out there.

Mario Sonic at the Winter Olympics Wii isn't doing bad either.

It's probably not as successfull as the first game but it seems to be holding up very well.

Lame, but funny ;)

Just Dance looks like fun if you have a bunch of people to play it with. I've no doubt there are versions being worked on for PS360, following the success of this one. There is currently a glut of dance shows on TV here in the UK at the moment (no doubt the winners of Britain's Got Talent, Diversity, had something to do with this. Basically, dancing is the 'in' thing to do here at the moment.

Massive bomba for Dark Void, even Bionic Commando came in at number 19 on 360. Capcom must be regretting investing in western developers after the big sales of Dead Rising and Lost Planet compared to those two.

The same way most rhythm music games are just watching notes falling down on the screen and then pressing the right buttons?

It's not like it's even a new game concept. Konami done it ages ago with Para Para Paradise. It was a video game back then, as it is a video game now.

Not when it's on a Nintendo system and it reaches 1mil,
then it gets to non-game status.

Seriously people expect European gamers to go check games on IGN?

THE WORDS! They'll drift away without the _!
The Top 10 is made up of games from only 3 different publishers this week with Nintendo still well represented with 4 titles.

huh..?

I count 4 in the all formats (Nin, Ubi, EA, Acti) and 5 in the individual formats (same four + Microsoft).

those comments are usually about the all formats charts. Else it was a typo or they ment 3 publishers besides Nintendo (in contrast to the previous weeks where it were 4 or 5 publishers besides nintendo).
Could the "with" have the meaning of plus or additional in this sentence ?

Wow @ Scandinavia.

Wii, PS3 & 360 pretty much equal.
Well Nintendo has been basically non-existant since Snes, Xbox isn't too popular because it's Microsoft's, and Sony has dominated the market since Playstation 1 came out. Things have changed for sure, but not as radically as in other regions.

360 is actually fairly popular in Scandinavia compared to the rest of the continental Europe.

That's true.

What could be the reason behind this? PC gaming is still really popular here so are some PC gamers moving on to consoles and since X360 is basically a PC in a console's clothes..?

Still, MS had a year head start before Nintendo and 1,5 year head start compared to PS3 which shows how big brand Playstation is here compared to rest of the world even though the price rape at least in Sweden and Finland was terrible. Good to see Nintendo being relevant again in Nordic countries, it's been a while. The portable systems' success (or the lack of it) compared to other regions makes me really wonder...

Nintendo DS's market share in Finland is only 6,2% in software and 6,6% in hardware. The only platform that has smaller market share is PSP. I guess DS's market share is a lot bigger in the rest of Scandinavia.
