PS3 Issue: Rolling Vertical Lines

For some reason I get rolling vertical lines on my TV when using my PS3.
At first I thought it was my HDMI cable, so I bought the Sony PS3 Component cables.
Still have the same issue.

Then I read online that I had to go into the DVD settings on the PS3,
and turn down some reduction filter.
Played with that for like 30 mins, still happens.

Now I read somewhere that it could be the coax going into my Digital PVR...
Yeah...

Then another place that said it could be the grounding on the PS3...
(Have the power going into some massive Monster power bar.)

OK, WTF, what is the official fix?
It's pretty annoying after seeing it over and over...

This doesn't happen on any of the other equipment I have...

Just bought the PS3 too... (MGS4 80GB Bundle)

Anyways, some other suggestions would be great, thanks.. :p

It's a ground loop. You need to get one of those 3 prong to 2 prong converters.

You want to ground your coaxial cable into a power strip that offers such protection. Solved it for me.

Do you mean THIS THING?
Saw it on another forum...

I'll give that a try...

All this seems kinda awkward... :/

I used to have to use this solution for my old RROD'ed 360, but the Halo 360 came with different power supply that had 2 prong plug, effectively fixing the issue on its own...

Yeah I was incredibly confused when my friend brought over his PS3 at launch and I had those lines - they are horizontal lines scrolling vertically right?

Got my PS3 in December after launch and did some searching - hooked up the cable TV coaxial line into my Monster power strip and it's been fine since.

Yep, those are exactly what they are...

I'm going to try the coax solution 1st,
as I have a coax filter on my surge protector...
Plus I don't feel like driving to an electronic store right now.

If this fixes it, I'm going to be really happy.
I'm really liking the PS3, except for this issue.

damn

I spent $30 on cables trying to fix this problem a week and a half ago. Why didn't you make this thread sooner, JERK

bish gets all the credit :)
My CRT HDTV occasionally gets this (i think). I can see the refresh scanning bar going up occasionally. I have it plugged in to a nice powerstrip. Would that adapter fix this?

Haha, like I said in the OP,
I was going through an HDMI cable, thought it was the problem,
and bought the official Sony Component Cable.
It set me back in cash too...

Plus I only got the PS3 like 2 days ago.
(I paid $599 as it was the last MGS4 80GB bundle in town.)
