EDIT: Alpha Access will be out Oct 22 and is for PC only: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6_02n5K9JQ

AA will receive regular updates with new features and such. AA release #1 will have one village with NPCs and miniquests. No combat, no horse riding, but those will be added in later releases.

Their in-house motion capture studio is working well. Character's faces will be 3D-scanned.

Skip straight to combat presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6_02n5K9JQ#t=660

Straight to new WIP in-game footage teaser trailer with first glimpse at the music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=M6_02n5K9JQ#t=765

I'd be willing to bet that those dates are subject to change. Perhaps not for the Alpha, though.

So happy that I pledged for the Baron reward now. Getting the alpha access now that I got a new PC it's perfect.

KK Deliverance looks promising, I do like the fact that it's set on a realistic environment and there's no magic. Still, the game is so far away.

Looking forward to the Alpha.

I think the game's biggest challenge will be having a decent enough story to keep players motivated being set in a realistic historical environment.

Does the game has 3rd person view? Everything I saw is in 1st person view.

From their site:

Do you plan to implement 3rd person view?
We are sorry, but we do not plan to allow you to control your character in 3rd person view (TPV). You will be able to see your character, e.g. in cutscenes, dialogues or in the inventory screen You can also see your body and hands all the time. We believe that FPV allows for better immersion in the world; we also think that we can make the FPV combat work. Moreover, the many systems, including combat, are designed with FPV in mind and wouldn't work in TPV without a major redesign.

Thank you.

Guess I'll stick with M&B.

Wouldn't it be easier to have an interesting story this way? Every fantasy game has the same "slay the evil <insert nonsensical villain> and save the kingdom of <insert generic fantasy world> claptrap. With a historical setting you can make the stakes smaller and do more interesting things with characters/intrigue.

Precisely this, and also why I am so excited about this game. Game of Thrones, both TV show and RPG game, deal in 99% with political intrigues and that is infinitely more interesting than fucking dragons. Not that I hate dragons.

And there goes all my interest in this. Melee combat in FPV is serviceable at best and boring dog shit at worst from my experience.

What games did You play? Because there are only few games with amazing melee combat and most of them are FPP games.
Actually only good TPP melee games are from Jedi Knight series, Dark Souls somehow applies too, but i didnt like it much
