For people who have already played the retail game on the PS3 on an SDTV:
How is the tearing? Is it fixed, or is it still as bad as in the demo?
Would be great if someone could test this for me on an SDTV.

Hell, I've already gotten 7 hours out of the demo.

I've replayed the demo like 10 times already, and haven't even done a time trial yet. I've just repeated the story mode.

LOVE this game.

Best looking environments this gen, hands down. Can't wait to buy this. 6 hour campaign be damned.

I had a feeling it'd be short. >_>

It'll be like the AC of this year, it will riddle the used-games section, and be on sales right after Christmas. I'm going to wait until then so that I can buy the game new, and feel good for supporting a new game, but get it at forty bucks, which is much more manageable than sixty for the game.

Given all the hate Heavenly Sword got for being a short game, we should hate on this. Though I won't.

Would someone have a spare key to unlock time trial? And would that nice someone share that spare key? Pretty please? (360 version, in case it matters)

Oh and here's my take on the time matter: not everyone wants to replay a level multiple times. More content is always better, why is this even being debated. That said, I loved the demo. Will buy.

On top of being an amazing game on its own right, this game feels like one of those games that I can really wow my friends with. It's so unique and interesting.

Just before landing sounds a bit late. I try to hold the "down" button about a second before hitting the ground. Experiment to find the sweet spot, there's a definite window for it.

Thanks. I'm obviously going to keep practicing to get it down perfect. It's really annoying to get all the really complicated jumps right, the ones that require a combination of 4 button presses. Only to be undone by a single button press as you fall from height.

So you got the walljump down? The last LT still gets me...but looking through that video you posted earlier shows that its useful even for regular jumps over railings and stuff...I gotta keep practicing.

What helps me on higher fall rolls is to look down at Faith's feet while falling just to gauge the distance and get when i'm just about to hit the ground. I've always found that when shes maybe a foot off the ground is the best distance...you can guesstimate that.

I downloaded the demo on both ps3 / 360 and found ps3's colors richer and the contrast isn't as overblown which gives it more of a 3D feel, also if you look at the ground textures on both you can see more details on ps3 version regardless of tv / in game brightness / contrast settings. the only negative against ps3's is that the jaggies are a bit more intrusive as if its running in a slightly lower resolution. also there is a few occasions where the ps3 ver loses vsync which causes some screen tearing.

Tough call on which version I would buy, judging from the demo I really liked the way it looks on PS3 but the jaggies are a bit annoying. Pro's and Cons on both systems.

Game itself is pretty interesting I had fun after going through the demo a few times, especially after getting used to the controls.

I don't really mind the length - I can definitely see myself replaying this game quite a bit - I love the gameplay a lot. Plus I'm really excited that my girlfriend is into this game. It's hard to find a game that we can play together and both enjoy a lot. The last game that happened with was Oblivion, and it was great fun playing together and sharing our experiences with our different characters.

I'm kind of bummed to hear about ME's story & hearing that it's so linear though, but I could have guessed from the demo.

Surprise! Some people find it fun!

A rental seems to make more sense for a game around 6 hours long, but I'm one of those folks who try to squeeze all they can out of a game like this, so I'm happy paying full price for it. It'll be my main November purchase anyhoo, so that justifies the spendy.

Exactly

As of right now I'm replaying Resistance 2's SP campaign and I NEVER replay shit anymore. The combat in it is soo good and it's a relatively short, focused and high enjoyable game ....trophies help too!

On the flipside, I don't think I'll ever even come close to finishing something like Far Cry 2 =/

Or more recently, something like Megaman9. When you get it down, you come to realize it's actually a short game (all of them are) but you replay the fuck out of it, mastering it

clearly its not for you, but there are many many people that see themselves in the top 20 on a online or offline leaderboard and just get addicted to replay it and watch themselves improve and get higher. Best example that I've seen of gamers loving this is Little Big Planet's challenge levels, which is basically like Mirror's Edge time trials.

Mirror's Edge is all about manouvering around the environments in as cool way as possible. Cool=fast/slick=no stumbling. Time trial in this game is a streamlined and user friendly way to replay the levels without much hassle and shave off those seconds.
For me it's not really seeing my name in the top20 but aiming for that cool run where everything comes together. I've had a few of those and that experience is incredibly satisfying.

i was hoping for something a little longer (like 10 hours), but i've always had the feeling this was going to be a short experience.
As long as those six hours are really packed with quality and fun, it's not a huge problem with me.

DAY ONE no matter what, i got it preordered (UK version, Italian voiceover FTL).

10 hours of Mirror's Edge would be too fucking much.

You can't compare this to something like Resident Evil or Metal Gear Solid, which were good, long games, because in those games you spent the whole time creeping forward inch by inch or running back forth unlocking doors. In ME you never turn around and are constantly sprinting forward as fast as you can.

As long as ME has as much variety and detail as other games, what does it matter how long a playthrough takes? You're getting the same content, only sped up.

another review, 7.5 / 10 from True Gaming, here is the translation:

Quote:
Pros The feeling of speed and jumping is fantastic. Easy and responsive controls. Excellent visuals and sound.

Cons It ends before it really begins. Lacks diversity in level layouts. Mediocre story and voice acting.

If the concept interests you, and if you can forgive its shortcomings, and you don't mind paying for a game you might finish on the same day, get it. But it's hard to recommend Mirror's Edge when there are games available that will give you much more value.

I'm fine with the length. I don't buy games to last me a long time these days (since I'm busy with so many other things). I buy them for the quality of the entire experience. Length doesn't necessarily always have a direct correlation with the quality of a game.

Just finished the tutorial level got a trophy.
when you finish a level you can choose to continue to the next level or stay at the level and go anywhere you want in the level , or to try to beat a challenge(there is no challenge in the tutorial level).

I stayed at the tutorial level and got a trophy for free jumping i think.
on the status menu you can check if you shot an enemy .
I think the shooting better than the demo.

i don't care how long the game is, as long as it's good and the length is appropriate for the game.

and using my time up is not "incentive" for me to buy a game.

it better be pretty damn polished to justify that length. short games are fine, so long as it's a result of paring away the fat and leaving nothing but lean muscle, or the gameplay equivalent. i'm all for short games. but a 6-8 hour game better have twice the polish as a 20 hour game.

Then I remembered that I was hooked up at 480i. I had picked up the PS3 that day
