Quick question.
See that it's coming out soon. Is FW good for a Soul Sacrifice fan?
played that story mode all the way through and liked that a lot.
Mainly if SP is a actual viable route and there isn't crazy gathering and what not like MH.

there is crazy gathering of weapons to combine to 'attempt' to make your weapon better. also constant stage runs to look for map pickup items.

thankfully you dont spend as much time per stage doing that.

dont expect a soul sacrifice though as personally the story is quite weak in the game thanks to bad writers apparently. which is surprising considering the characters and story of the god eater series were well done.

game also plays quite different. in the long run you will be pigeonholed to a specific weapon if you want to go for max efficency against the abductors.

this by no means is a bad game just try not to compare it to something else. i have videos up in the OP which shows what you can expect gameplay wise.

that also soloing SP is not an issue at all if you are used to third person shooters.

Two different games, story of this game is no where close to SS(+Delta) and again it's like none of other games. Some designs similar to GE2, same engine I suppose but that's about it. Plays differently, and has different aspects.

and yes, price is $30. might want to try this if gameplay interests you - unfortunately sony doesn't plan to release demo or trial here.

i may say harsh shit about the game but thats only because was highly disappointed by a team that i know has more than enough experience and knowhow to do better. most def shows that someone without such talents was in charge of design and decision making somewhere in the team.

still do hope folks will enjoy the title when released in the west. esp at the price you folks will be getting it at thats a steal.

PvP is really different from PvE. Long range weapons, machine guns etc and flamethrowers dominate here. Can see myself playing this this weekend :)

I still can't put DLC decals on forehead (like those SoulSacDelta decals).

the decal system is garbage to put it bluntly all the preset locs are shit.

designs dont even line up right for a bunch of stuff.

With the new patch too I heard that it added the ability to remove modules you dont want on the weapon. So at least makes things slightly less of a pain in the ass with making the high lv weapons to ones desired specs. Though it costs an insane amount of points supposedly.

I really wouldnt say its different considering thats how you dealt with the humanoid enemy AI in the game all the time by keeping out of the AIs effective combat range and just picking them off from a distance. Folks already knew how irritating flamethrowers were considering the enemy used them on some of the indoor missions and would basically stun lock the player when hit.

I didn't play the game for days and I don't remember what I need to do to make the story progress.
The last mission I did was 3-3.

If someone remembers how to unlock the next mission/story, I'll be grateful.

I had to do another one of these boring infiltration missions.
 
I have been playing the jp demo and I don't know how I should hold the vita to comfortably hit triangle when I am running (to jump side to side when using the knife)

What I really liked in Toukiden was the posibility to hold down square, then press and hold R and let go of square (with the bow).

I have tried the different controls in the demo but haven't found one that is perfect have they added any new controls in any of the patches?

generally on consumer games (non pc) here in japan they dont really consider fully customizable controls that often. things outside of fighting games anyways.

i find it interesting folks had issues with the default controls esp you considering you are one of the good gundam vs players lol since im fucking awful at the game (&#12494;-_-)&#12494;~&#9531;&#9473;&#9531;

I find it strange that games in 2014 still uses a separate button to reset the camera (and especially in a vita game when the vita only have 2 shoulder buttons). IMO this have to stop. In this particular game it feels really unecessary as you both have free camera movement and lock on.

What do you mean with balance, I am going to play the game in coop from start to finish, so if you are talking about the "one weapon that rule them all" I don't think that I'll be forced to use it in the same way as if I would play the game solo?

Why shouldn't I base my purchase on my experience with the demo?

After reading this thread and hearing about the flaws of this game from the people here I hope that the chance for me to enjoy the game is a lot bigger than it was for the people that played it without any pre knowledge?

I really wish this game had multiple save slots. That on top of auto save is evil -_-

Also now that I had a lot of time with the game, I would say the gameplay has some issues. The camera/lock-on in particular is completely retarded. I can never know which direction I have to press to move the lock-on reticule if it targets the body part I don't want. It rarely follows a logical direction.
Other than that there are a lot of nasty stuff but I got used to it.

Regarding the controls, I pretty much kept the default scheme because I couldn't find any one that is comfortable. The only way is to play the game with a dual shock but that's another story.

I really hope in the next game they make improving the gameplay in general their top priority.
The game's engine is great.

Edit: I forgot to say that the loading time are absurdly long for a cartridge game. Usually 5-10 seconds when you start a mission.

Last week in Japan, Freedom Wars for the PlayStation Vita was updated to version 1.20, which added a Player vs Player mode (up to 8 via Wi-Fi), Player vs Player Practice Mode using AI enemies, Ideology Wars (fighting is replaced with vote casting on limited-time prompts), and Special Extermination Volunteering (battle major Abductors individually).

I haven't found any details on how this works and if you have explained it somewhere in this thread I must have missed it.

Would someone please explain how these things work (vote casting and what do they mean by battle major abductors individually, isn't that what u do more or less throughout the whole game?).

I don't know if this game is going to be up my alley... I just know that I'm itching for some new Vita action so I'll be hopping between this and Fantasy Life for the rest of the month. Once it ships that is.

Love the price too!
 
I am pretty sure that I have preodered FW on the EU PSN, but now I can´t find the game at all (even through search) and it is not listed in the coming soon part of the store ether. Have they removed it or am I being delusional?
 
Never searched for it before and I'm getting the retail version of the game.

Ok, good that you are buying the retail version, I hope that a lot of people do the same as the game wasn´t supposed to release as a boxed copy. I´m all digital on the Vita so I never bothered to complain about the pre "no retail" complaining that happened.

As I see it though the game has good boxart so hopefully some peolpe will see it in a store and pick it up. :)

I love when games unlock at midnight the night before release so I really hope that my preorder still is valid.

which panopticon will you fight for, I am a little worried that some smaller (countries) panopticons like the one I will be a part of (Stockholm, Sweden)won´t have enough members, but I hope that I am wrong (would be sad to have to fight with).

I think that it would have been better if all panopticons would have been completely fictional (with just a description in text form) because I don´t like to devide people into we/them based on where they come from (geographically).

That first mission is fucking terrible. I didn't mind these missions previously because they were dispatched quickly until now, but now I'm stuck and going through it again and again is tiresome.
And mind you, I love hard games. It's just that here it's a terrible design.

If anyone has some tips to share, I'll be grateful. I don't want to give up now ;_;

If they haven't patched the barbara yet, go and grab one and upgrade it as much as you can.

Unfortunately barbara is good against Abductors but not small enemies in close corridors.
The problem here is that every time you die( you usually die in 1-2 hits) the time counter continues to decrease and you start over from the beginning.
When it's game over, you're back in your cell, so you have to go back to the pub, talk to Julian, go back to 6011. Talk to him again to start the mission.
All that + the loading time is killing me.
 
Use Attack Type Ibara and put traps into door entry. Bring Anti-human mines. Maybe grenades, but I've never been able to use them effectively.

Weird as it may sound (esp. with the reaction of people on that Kotaku article's video), Ibara attack is a pretty decent countermeasure. You should be able to kill them in 2 hits even with daggers.

It's actually the best countermeasure you got against humans if you're bad at shooters.

Just keep running around and wait for an opening (reloading), then Ibara->Ibara Slash thing whatever it's called.
