Faith And A .45 Development Comes To A Halt #1

sorry if old
source: Kotaku

Quote:
First announced early last year, Deadline Games' Faith And A .45 looked promising! It had biplanes, tommy guns and a sexy, ginger-haired lady. Basically, it made the Great Depression look fun!

So it's with a heavy heart that we hear tonight the game's been put on pause. Why? Because despite featuring biplanes, tommy guns and a sexy, ginger-haired lady (not to mention it's basically Gears of War with kissing), the game is still without a publisher.

Shame on you, Activision. And EA. And Ubisoft, THQ, Midway, Take-Two and Atari. Shame on all of you.

As for developers Deadline Games, don't worry too much. While the shelving of Faith is a sad tale, their bank balances should be well catered for when the Watchmen games they're working on are released later this year.

I made a thread about this game a while ago, already noticed we heard nothing after that trailer, too bad :/

I like how Kotaku shames publishers for passing up the game, because you know, the press had total access to the demo show and everything at E3....

thats right, it was shown at E3, behind closed doors, to publishers only....

Yes.

Shame on you publishers for not funding "basically Gears of War with kissing."

Shame.

OH OH OH

I wonder if the lead character's name is "Faith." That would be super clever and original.

This blows, I was really looking forward to this. Chili Con Carnage is awesome and this looked like co-op Chili Con Carnage which would be great fun. I actually sent Deadline an e-mail asking about this game a few months ago and got nothing in return

Why couldn't they just self-publish on PSN/XBLA or something? The game doesn't look like a huge $20 million project, I'm sure they could get away with putting it up for download for $20 or something

Serious bummer though

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

This is one of my most anticipated games!

What's with those publishers? Are they dense?! Are they retarded?!

Thought it looked cool, but if it's good enough, I'm sure it'll pick up a publisher.

Just ask N'Gai the solution for this: down-port it to Wii.

Jesus, guys, sometimes you are too complicated....

Screenshots to remember what it looked like:

Ans teaser trailer: http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/17394

I was a part of a focustesting group that was introduced to the early concept two years ago, and it sounded pretty solid, and had some good ideas. Too bad they didn't get a publisher for it.

Fuck... I was REALLY looking forward to this one. First read a blurb about it more than a year ago and was intrigued. Such a shame really, didn't see anything but that one shot...

This. I mean Siren did it. But obviously Sony had the resources to do this, maybe it's more taxing than we're led to believe? I can't believe they can't get a publisher to sign on!

There is no way Deadline would be able to selfpublish. They are a tiny tiny little company, not even close to the size of IO Interactive, which is the biggest danish developer around. Maybe if the Watchmen game becomes a succes, they can get some more publisher backing to make Faith a reality, but there is no way they would be able to publish it.

Aw man, that is freaking heartbreaking. It may have been Gears of War with kissing, but the setting and scenario were just so unique. Depression era Bonnie and Clyde-style flight across the American heartland? There's nothing else like it! Damned publishers. If Ride to Hell can get funding and distribution, I don't see why this can't.

On the bright side, at least we won't have to read a Dave Halverson review that's just five-hundred words about how the red-headed chick is so hot...

Needed more terrorists, aliens, nazis and zombies.

I temper my disappointment by realizing that the appeal to this game is the setting and not really the base mechanics. There'll be plenty of opportunities to shoot things this year; it just doesn't look like this'll be one of them.

$20 says atari picks it up and phil says some whitty comment playing and punning off the word 'faith' as for their reason in picking it up.

Those mean publishers also did not want to get the other offerings made by "Deadline Games: Killing Pablo Escobar and Bonnie & Clyde.

Maybe Harrison will save it like he did Ghostbusters. He seems to have an ear to the ground.
