It's kind of remarkable that 2009 is seeing the release of brand new full-featured classically-inspired Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and Shin Megami Tensei games. Plus a Studio Ghibli RPG and a DQ clone by the dude that repopularized Wizardry clones.

I love the black mages with top hats and walking sticks. I also love the mage (geomancer? Perhaps ) with the strange gold thing on his hat. I'd be totally down with those designs replacing the traditional job designs for a couple of games. Especially in FFXIV and any future Crystal Chronicles.
