Wow, between Best buy sales, my first Steam summer sale, and the PSN spend 100/get 15 back, plus the preorder bonuses for South Park and Dishonored, I wrecked my score this month. It doesn't help that I've been playing games that don't count towards the score.

Note for my update, since the main reasons why I bought South Park 2 and Dishonored 2 games digitally was because you got copies of the SoT and Dishonored 1 also, I'm counting these purchases as a total of -4 towards my score instead of -2 as I haven't played the first of these series. I had read the OP that says that "free" games don't count, but I think this is a valid exception in this case as getting 4 games for the price of 2 is what made me purchase now.

Wow. This month was substantually better than last month. Greatly.

Main OP

Compared to last month where I bought a few games and only finished one, this month, I bought a few games and finished a ton more of them. Admittedly, I had only planned on buying two - Mirror's Edge: Catalyst and Tokyo Mirage Sessions - but I had an unplanned third purchase in Hitman and its episodes to date.

I regret being swept up by the release of the third episode and critical acclaim to date to have bought it. Not because it's a bad game - far from it, I think it's great what I've played of it and I think once I put some decent amount of time into the game, I do think it'll be in my top ten for the year - but more it's a game I could have waited for to finish up when it does end in the summer.

But otherwise, I've managed to hold firm on other games coming from E3, including Inside, which I'm going to wait until the end of the year on, or at least later down the line.

This is how it all panned out. And it panned out well.

Coming in hot for June! I'll be at Anime Expo for the first part of July so I wanted to make sure I got this in now.

June Acquired: -1
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (PS4): I could have sworn I'd logged the PS2 one, but I guess not, so here it is. Looking forward to playing this actually, as I missed the boat the first time and it fell into the backlog abyss.

June Beaten: +3
The Banner Saga (PS4): This is probably the first game I've played like a real asshole. I was only looking out for number 1 most of the time, and I feel like that paid off well in the end. Despite a kind of simplistic and often wonky combat system, I really loved the weight of every choice. Looking forward to a PS4 release of BS2, day one.
Life is Strange (PS4): I didn't really like this. Without spoiling anything, I never felt the attachment to the character the game was trying desperately to attach me to, which made the ending a lot less impactful for me.
Assassin's Creed Rogue (PS3): With enough distance between this and Black Flag, I was finally able to pull the trigger. It's just like everyone says. If you played Black Flag, this game is pointless, unless you're really in it for the story - which was actually pretty cool, to flip the script a little and see how this game tied Black Flag, AC3, and Unity together.

June 2016 Update (07/01/16): Yesterday managed to slip away without my planned post, but I'll tackle it a day later nonetheless. My limited pressing of Octodad: Dadliest Catch arrived this afternoon so I'll toss that into the pile as a small bonus. I'm currently torn between prioritizing Virtue's Last Reward or the aforementioned game for this month off the bat. Adding DOOM, Lumino City, and Mini Metro to the satisfied list. Beat Lumino out of those three, DOOM I'm well on my way though it's a slow burn as I can't handle more than a level at a time (new 1070 makes it look insane!) Mini Metro is awesome. Really really neat puzzle game. Lumino has a great aesthetic and presentation of the puzzles, and the last few sections are really cool. Just a couple puzzles that are frustrating, and some control/crash issues.

It's silly of me to have retro city rampage sitting on the backlog list cause I didn't buy this on purpose and I'm not really enjoying the bit I've played so far.

Yeah, I only count the games I actually wanted on the list tbh. Usually I just give codes for games I don't want away, but if I can't I'll hide it in my Steam library :)

My list has really stalled the last few weeks. I play a level of Doom here and there, and still love that game, and some Mad Max here and there, but it's still Rocket League 80% of the time I play something. :/

My backlog is almost completely empty, I pretty much only have Bulletstorm left to play and I'm dry with nothing to fill it. I have way too much spare time on my hands to not have anything to play (back problems, recent operation, can't work etc etc etc).

I really want to get back into the Resident Evil series, I played 1 & 2 when I was a kid but nothing since (well I did Revelations 2 ep1). I'm looking to get Resident Evil 4 once it drops under £5, then go from there. Tomb Raider is my biggest want but it's still £25 which is just madness, thought it would be £15 by now.

I recently picked up the Humble Bundle and finished Darksiders II which I loved, and it was only about 26p!

July 2016 Update (07/29/16): I recently had the pleasure of finishing the Zero Escape trilogy which has been my primary highlight of the past two months. After experiencing some of the best narratives I've ever seen in gaming, I'm struggling at the moment over what my next targets should be among the endless backlog. I'm thinking about staying on top of my latest Limited Run Games purchases. Most of the current indie titles don't seem to be lengthy so they should be decent trips after some long-winded visual novels. I'm additionally trying to keep my current slate free for the impending launch of No Man's Sky which I hope will turn out more enduring than Minecraft given their scavenger similarities. I might adjust some star ratings for a couple of titles in the near future upon reflecting on them more critically, too.

I went nuts with Pokemon this month, which has nothing to do with the Pokemon Go craze, that was just a weird coincidence. Fire Red and Sapphire were already mostly finished, I'd just given up on them when I hit the pre-Elite Four grinding session (as I always used to be under-levelled at that point). So I wrapped those two up, finished Pokemon Black (which I'd also started years ago but was only like a third through when I quit) and beat Pokemon Y (which felt like the shortest and easiest game in the series). Then, with that mostly out of the way (though I still have Platinum and Black 2 in my backlog), I finally got back to Zero Time Dilemma, after putting it off for a while, and wrapped that up too.

So a good month for me, I've managed to claw my way back to -1 again and hopefully that'll go positive soon (probably not though, August is a big month).

Finished DOOM, then realized I already added it to this list. Hell of a game. Bosses were really great. Next up is Wolfenstein: The New Order.

I also bought Kingdom Rush Frontiers on complete impulse, as steam gave me a 25% discount code for it, and I had some money in my steam wallet. Already played that for a few hours and like it just as much as the first game, so will add it to satisfied as well.

Done with Stardew just before hitting winter in year 1. I realized once I hit my goal of brewing that there wasn't much I really wanted to do in that game. It's pretty relaxing and fun in that way though. I got 30 hours out of it, and it was well worth the $13.

Yeah I know, don't get a heart attack or something! :p

As soon as I stopped with the two games per week thing I simply stopped finishing games. Oops. I've actually not been playing much at all.

Not looking like it will change soon either. First of all we're probably getting a second dog in September so not much gaming from then on. August will be filled with Dota 2 (I don't play but I love TI) and No Man's Sky (hopefully).

I'm happy I got a lot of games finished in the first half of the year because it really seems not much else will happen on that front now.
Let's just say I'm giving you guys a chance to catch up to me ;)

Not a bad month but still getting more games than those I'm actually finishing (even if they were very cheap). This month MLB The Show 16 and Rocket League were the games I played the most so not much progress. Might as well forget about this year since I preorder 4 games that release in August...
