It was incredibly boring, there was no reason to go through the campaign whatsoever.
I think pCars' career mode laid the groundwork for something really cool..as someone that has ZERO interest in online racing, I can only pray that the career mode is seriously fleshed out...

They have to capture the atmosphere around being in an actual competition more...take cues from those that have been doing sports sims for awhile..Look at what makes The Show, FIFA, Madden, NBA2k, etc successful from a career mode standpoint and translate those things to auto racing...Make it a spectacle..It can be done, only depends on how much they want to do

Oh, and give me some Vipers...Pretty please?

Ah some of the footage was from what I saw a couple weeks ago. Maybe it was posted by accident not private and taken down again. This looks like the full version.

Can't wait. Day 1.

They said they would potentially port it to Nintendo's next gen console back when Wii U port was cancelled. Any word on a Switch version then?

Nintendo is not planning to release nextgen console anytime soon.

In the looks department, on PS4 it was good but nothing to write home about. It was no GT, that's for sure.

pCARS1 was a crossgen-game for majority of its development. It was built to be scalable and to run on 7th gen. The push for nextgen-only release happened very late. That will not be a issue for for pCARS2, they will aim for 8th gen from the start, and that will push the visual bar higher.

Well, I really thought this video might cause a bigger stir than it has..!
Is there really that much apathy?
Edit: I guess America hasn't woken up yet.

Trailer looks awesome. I still plan to buy it not long after release, probably not on day1, because I'll wait for the feedback how it plays on the standard PS4.

Not sure... maybe some keen motorsport fan will know of a British track with a Mothers bridge. Same track as the other images with the Focuses, maybe? There's speculation on GTP and PCars that it might be Angelsey or Knockhill.

The yellow Ferrari is the 288 GTO, and the Porsche is a 935 race car of which there were a few variants. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with that footage, it looks like they're pulling out all the stops with this game.

It's going to be interesting with PCars 2, Forza 7 and GT Sport(well, maybe...) all looking to be released in the last ~3 months of the year. It's good to be a racing game fan anyway.

Their lighting tech seems to have improved a lot, hopefully it looks this good on consoles.

Ballsy of them to release it close to GTS and Forza 7 though.

'Nissan' spotted.

I'm sold.

EDIT:

I can't speak for Forza as I've never played it, but speaking as a long-time Gran Turismo fan, PCARS1 really hit a sweet spot for me that recent GTs could not.

I love the car-porn aspect of GT, but I am a racing fan more than I am a car fan and that's where PCARS really shines for me.

Basically, given all I know of PCARS2 and GT Sport so far, if I had to choose one of them this year I would be going with PCARS2 quite comfortably.

I'm wondering, given that Mothers is an American product, whether the circuit may be across the pond?

Laguna Seca.

Its in pcars1 and they obviously updated the bridge to the correct track branding when they got the license sorted compared to what is shown in the early comparison shot

I'm a long time GT fan as well and I agree GT should learn a lot from PCARS (was just writing an article about it) the AI in particular is incredible, just hope SMS work on the default setups of cars, some of them are awful.

Yep, nailed it. Even down to the blue/white kerbs.

Nice one, I thought that section looked familiar. Thank you for clearing that up.

Very excited for a sequel. I play racing games very casually. However, bought a wheel and racing rig to play PC1 in VR. Great experience even if the campaign is rather dull. Definitely looking forward to the sequel. I'll be there day 1 (or whenever VR is available).

Zero sense to you. I see nothing wrong in a portable version of this game that launches in time with the other versions.

- Less resources for the main version
- Cuts in the portable version that can get into the main version
- Racing simulator without analog triggers? lol

I'm not saying WMD members are lying, I am just (really really) tempering my expectations.

I'm not even convinced we'll see it this year anyway.

Agreed, even if ds4 issues are resolved I'm still on the fence. The first 6 months after release WMD basically pissed on our shoes and told us it was raining when it came to control.

Zero sense from a financial and development point of view. Makes sense for you, but you are in the minority. Don't try to make it look like it makes sense just because it fits your needs.

If anything, WMD is a community and as a community, there're different individuals. There were a ton of WMD1 members fighting the good fight to make gamepad controls good (they lost it, lol).

It looks good, but PCars has never really had an issue in the looks department.

Dunno about that. The car selection screen is nasty. The cars are all blurry and look cartoonish.

On track though I will agree the game looked good. Looking forward to PCars 2, but I do hope the support doesn't fall off a cliff like PCars. We're still getting updates for Assetto Corsa but PCars isn't.
