Well, other than the High Res art thread on gaf, its really a matter of searching on google for wallpaper sites, and art sites. Sometimes it helps if you know the artist names who worked on the game, and you can usually find their stuff on their personal site/blog. Also, try deviantart, tineye, flickr and google image search.

I'll see what I can do... Not sure I found many high quality art for Dark souls the last time I checked. If nothing good comes up, we might have to wait abit till more promo stuff comes out.

Well to be fair this is about aesthetics and not sales... it's also using the devs/publisher's artwork most of the time.

There are a lot of bad covers out there because someone thought it would move units off the shelf. I can't personally say why anyone thought that MGS4 cover was the way to go, but you can be assured it was because they thought it'd sell copies.

Games and Dvds don't have those crappy box arts because they think it looks good. They have put as much recognizable or eyecatching stuff so that people will take a look. Thats why there are so many "floating heads" dvd covers, they wanna cram as much shit on that box as they can.

The work in this thread is amazing, and game companies should feel terrible paying people to put out the stuff they do. Not only are the covers in here more eye catching with their more simple/elegant designs, they're just prettier to look at period. Amazing work to all involved.

Okay so I tried my hand at doing a Xbox 360 minimal cover template. The Xbox logo itself seemed a little difficult to see when adding artwork to it though so I added a tiny bit of layer style to help it stand out a bit more but not too much.
