I very rarely pre-order games. I wait for reviews, and then possibly wait for used or a price drop.
The reason I've pre-ordered Reckoning is because of the lack of PR bullshit and the real communication from Curt and the team. Its convinced me everyone working on this set out to make a great game, and that they really believe they did make a great game. That's good enough for me. I hope you take a lesson from this, PR guy reading this thread. |

Is it known if you can save your account info in the final game? I have a fairly complex password and it has kept me from going back and playing the demo that I can't copy-paste or save my EA account info in the demo. I tried playing without putting in my account info but it makes you do the tutorial if you do that rather than letting you skip past.
I'd assume you can but I also would have assumed you could in the demo. |

Is it just me or have Curt's honest posts sold as many people on the game as other companies entire marketing has?

He's not the only one though, the lead designer, creative director, systems designer, lead combat designer and a bunch of other people you'd never expect to hear from on a forum chime in on their forums all the time. Sign of an awesome developer in my opinion. |

But seriously, it's a very nice thing to see. It'll make me feel good knowing that I'm supporting a developer that is doing all the right things. I'm spreading the word to the people I know who are into this kind of game at work and some have told me they've never heard of it and think it looks great. |

Marketing can only do so much. The demo (although buggy) sold me on the game. Plus Curt's openness is by far better than the way most developer/companies handle their critiques. There are only a few other companies that come to mind that handle it the way 38 does. Those being Epic and Naughty Dog.

This game is fun as shit, but buggy and rough feeling. Anyone have issues with a "hitch" in the running animation? It seemed to slow down in frame rate for a split second then speed up really fast then normalize. It happened about once every minute. Anyone?
I'm sold on the game, if all the issues are ironed out. Any early word on which console version will perform the best? PC is unfortunately out of commission gaming-wise and I'm not making another build until summer. |

Well, the marketing sold me on the game (the series of ads with Claudia Black narrating them), but Curt's openness is a real treat. He responds directly to issues that most PR guys run screaming from(the EA online pass). You may not like his response, but it's still a no-bullshit response from the guy in charge. He could have just as easily talked about his baseball career, but instead he seems to tackle the tough stuff head-on, much like he did in his other career. That's why I hope his company is a huge success. I want to buy games from companies run by guys like him.

I imagine it didn't do anything but help. Whether it sold a bunch of people on the game or not, who knows, but most people appreciate honesty and telling it like it is, and when he was a baseball player he was the same way. Earned a lot of respect that way.

I've purchased multiple copies of Reckoning. Some I'll give away, some I may just put up as an OCD collector. But I want to help find a way to support a developer that is going to approach things this way. Also, i owed Curt at least one purchase for 2004. |

I've bought waaay too many games in recent months, that I've had to enforce a ban on myself (making an exception for Amalur of course). I really don't know where i'm going to find time to play them all. Thats what Steam sales will do to you.
Bastion SR3 Hard Reset Xenoblade F.E.A.R Collection Tomb Raider Nation Red Spellforce 2 NWN 2 Platinum S.T.A.L.K.E.R I'm so easily distracted. Fallout 3 and New Vegas has never left my hard drive, Skyrim will be the same because of mods. Haven't finished Just Cause 2. Ditto Rage. And Final Fantasy 9. God dammit. edit and red dead redemption. FML.

Time will tell if Reckoning lives up to expectations, but they're effectively building support and all of us here are rooting for them. Keep it up, Curt/38 Studios/Big Huge Games.

Since you're self publishing on Steam, purchasing that version would give you more profit, no? 'Cause I'm definitely down with paying a little extra for Steam version if that's the case. (Steam benefits aside)
Also, I haven't seen anything about the online pass stuff regarding the Steam release, is that one still tied to EA and Origin and online passes and whatnot? If not, would buying that version make me unable to get the 6th faction? |

Sadly, I am pretty sure the pop-in will be exactly the same in the retail version and we will have to try and go config-file diving to mod/overclock the game engine ourselves :(

I believe the designers mentioned on Weekend Confirmed that it would support Mouse/Keyboard and XBox Controller, and that the UI would change on the fly based on which device the last input came from.

That said, the thing I think I find most appealing about this game is that every possible path you try is so damn fun and effective to play with. Which is going to make for an incredibly addictive game that you will want to replay with every kind of pure and hybrid build imaginable. For me, it is easily one of the best systems in an RPG that I can recall. |

For anyone that cares, my first complete run through will be on a build I've never played in any fantasy game, pure rogue.
I never played a rogue past like level 10 in any MMO, never into that sort of game mechanic, and have never been a PVP guy. But I fell in love with this destiny path from day 1, the way it plays, the very cool and deep strategy you can work with in combat. Traps, smoke bombs, stealth, assassinations and I love the ranged combat. Especially after Skyrim's bow combat. It feels bad ass, and that was all BEFORE I saw how to create juggle combo's from dagger and fae blades to bow finishers... I'll likely go battlemage on the next go around. |

Does Curt or anyone else know if there is a Rogue/assassin faction in the game? I always love being stealthy in these games.
And kudos Curt for going full Rogue on your first playthrough. It's just something about being sneaky and delivering swift death that is appealing to me. |

Yeah, being a rogue here just makes you feel like a badass assassin straight out of the gate. It is going to be a blast messing around with so many builds that are all fun to use for a change. No shoehorning me into set paths, either. I love it.
