I'm late on this, I want to react on Chinner getting the ME3 OT.
Giving ME3 the DA2 treatment would be a great injustice, there is nothing that warrants that much mudslinging, especially before the game is even out.

I don't think if catering to the haters of the series is a good idea, when most ME3 threads are already full of negativity and complaints.
I don't say OTs should be fans only areas, but complainers already have tons of place to bitch about the game.

Just my 2 cents, I don't really care about who does the OT in the end, since I don't intend to discuss ME3 on GAF before a long time, and I'm not asking Chinner to step down or something, just stating my opinion.

this was basically my idea/what i was doing for ME3 OT: I was basically going to make a youtube CYOA similar to those found for TF2. It would make fun of some GAF/ME mannerisms, but it wasn't actually going to be brutal, just silly. i had some backup ideas if this was going to fall apart.

however 3 truths have become apparent since I started working on it:
1. I really can't be bothered with drama over an OT
2. It's a time sink.
3. I've accepted ME's new direction and I'm chill with that. I'll play with other games.

if peopel want me to do i'll continue, but like i really don't want to be bothered with people moaning about some internet thread cuz i'm not licking it's balls by posing pr statements and character bios.

Since you don't seem to be intending that, I'm quite happy for you to do it if you still want to.

Difficult decision, the archive thread appeals cleaning house would be the sticking point, I'd say the main listings of produced OT wouldn't really need to be in the OT OT more than two months, so a listing for the OT for a hypothetical December 1st launch title, should be archived 1st of Feb as would the OT for title launched the 31st December as most people looking for info will be in the first month of the titles launch with how game sales are front loaded and the GAF userbase?

Also being archived means the info isn't lost if the search feature closes, it might be nice if the archive could only be posted to by yourself and the mods to stop people crapping up a good resource but I don't know how viable that'd be.

My two cents on the matter, but I'm batshit insane...

isnt there already a ME shit thread? I'm sure the OT creator who ever it is could get a mod to remind GAF to go there instead of shitting the OT up, as the way I see it no matter if it's fan drivel, jokes or just plain neutral it's going to be a melting pot of opinions due to the popularity of the series.

This. Give the guy a chance. Sure, I'd love to post my draft of the OT (at least the text part of it's completely done and I think it's pretty awesome and funny), but this is Chinner's show and I trust him to do it. He still has a couple of days to get back in touch and let me know if he'll be handling it or not.

Of course is nothing personal againts Chinner, those responses were not directed to him, but the fact that he really dislikes the game and wanted this OT, exclusive this OT for a joke thread isn't reasuring at all. If he wanted to do the Witcher 2 OT I'm sure that no one would be worried.

Don't really want to drag this out as we're filling this thread with rubbish, detracting from it's intended purpose, but the ME2 OT is in community which is considered an area just for fans, a GAF plays will usually attract the same fan set as the community side, a new OT on the other hand will be in Gaming and people click in to see what's going on so traffic will be higher, they'll be people who picked ME1 / 2 up recently cheaply who'll never of posted in the ME 1 / 2 OT's.

You mention the Bioware situation, but the fact is they are fans they're just upset with how things are going, that many people dont troll for the sake of it (from the off, later it it's just the cool thing to do) hell the DA2 thread was from Evilore and he was a fan of DA, the game just sucked that hard it got shat on, nothing suggests Chinner is doing that hell even Blue Ninja has said Chinner isn't planning a DA2 style humiliation, as long as it has the basics about the game where's the harm of some fun?

It's got to be better than a fan overload threads which spawned a 1300+ thread about OT overload.
