Yeah, that's about my assessment as well. I was actually surprised how much he didn't hate it despite it's Resident Evilness. He basically described it perfectly as an older style RE with RE4 style controls. I'm not finished with the game yet but so far that's precisely what RE:R is.

Me too... until he got to the part about escort missions and QTEs and how your unkillable character can be killed. I had never heard of this game until this video and now I hate it. It would be better for it to not exist than for it to exist and waste its awesome potential.

Minor spoilers concerning potential squadmates, romance options, and the location of the final mission. He basically glosses over the ending completely (basically just acknowledges that he knows there are complaints but says "it could have been worse") and he doesn't mention any of the major missions in any detail. It also seems pretty clear that he didn't touch the day one DLC.

Honestly, he doesn't really say a whole heck of a lot about the game.

Pretty spoiler lite. Couple of super minor things like how many squad mates you get, but that's about it. Doesn't name names or tell you of any deaths and events I don't think.

I thought it was pretty right on the money actually. Most of his concerns were simply gameplay and 'story excuse' oriented, which is something completely missing from every other review out there. The ending is not as brutal if you do not invest that much time in it, much like every other game out there.

The issue begins with the 'critical mass' of actually giving a fuck about it. Once you do, there's no way you could consider the ending any good. If you don't, then the ending is 'meh' and you return the rental.

Pretty much every reviewer deals with games in a 'rental' fashion, so his response to it is understandable.
