Really digging the new Mux Mool album. Not as energetic as Skulltaste, but much more chill. The lead track, Brothers, I could design to for hours.

Doing some work on the computer with Samurai Champloo (Blu-Ray) on the tv in the background. "Counting Stars" just came on.

checking out that dilla tribute soon, thanks pinko!

I'm trying to catch up here. Where do I get started?

this last page is pretty good, but i tried leaving some good links in the OP - check em out MT, the youtube links are good but the bandcamp ones are solid, i really need to update it though as there's been some fantastic ones on this page alone (tokubetsu's and again, i still bump CRS' link of LJones - Soul below).

Anyone have any good spotify playlists they're down to share?

Or better yet, a neogaf collaborative playlist?

the only current playlist i have is this weak one i got from a nujabes search, but honeslty, ive used youtube playlists more - one recently posted in here, and a good one for fat jon.
i would be down as fuck for a good spotify one (so many tracks i left in the OP for it) but i dont know how many of those artists are available on the service, as i honestly havent checked.
that said, please believe a good list would be in the OP.

Ok, here we go!

http://open.spotify.com/user/walbertosmith/playlist/2QhhSDwXnZLAciNfA7kg6T

Fully collaborative playlist on spotify! I went through the first page and added everything that's on spotify, and will continue through the rest of this thread today. I didn't include full albums though, just individual songs.

In the spirit of IrishNinja's original post:

Bear in mind: i'm aware we're sort've blending some genres here, some of this definitely crosses over with experimental, trip-hop, downtempo, urban jazz and tons of other sub-genres, but i do feel there's common themes here (modal, nujabes sound etc) so i'll try to stick within those but feel free to dance around them (some are gonna have lyrics, etc).

Please feel free to contribute! Remember, everyone has full add/delete privileges so if you don't like a song just skip it instead of deleting it, because someone out there enjoys it. If you've already suggested something in this thread but don't see it in the playlist, just be patient, I'll add it eventually. :)

Sidenote: For those users not on Spotify, I say get on it (Even if you hate facebook)! I never thought I would ever pay for a subscription music service, but Spotify is pretty damned impressive. And if you don't want to pay, the desktop service is 100% free and lets you access this incredible playlist.

With that said, massive thanks to IrishNinja for a FANTASTIC thread! I definitely always get excited when I see updates here!

Great job Walbert!

Just thought I'd mention this for those that don't like Facebook, you don't need it for Spotify.

sorry im late - OP officially updated with walbertsmith's awesome spotify playlist, good work man! and thanks for the love, haha. more of ya'll should subscribe, i'm already on it.

i enjoyed user friendly (and cpt yamato, but he's my dude)'s last few links too. DanteFox - im sure you've heard far fowls off the last nuja album, but i recall years back getting this Punjabi MC disc that was mostly just indian beats, when that shit was really hot in hip-hop...ill try and find it for you, but i used to dig this one:

Punjabi MC - Kori (Giddah)

*edit goddamn walbertsmith, this list is so good.

GAF, PLEASE PLEASE help me! I was at a Jazz club last night, heard this song and do not know the name. I've been hearing it since I was a kid and I still don't know the name!! You need VLC player to play it, I recorded it straight from my crappy cellphone.

Major kudos, props, and everything to whoever figures this mystery out!

EDIT: If there is a better thread for me to post this in, please tell me! I did a "Jazz" search on GAF and this is all I got.

damn, feel like ive heard that riff too...im guessing you tried shazam or whatever app it is that's made for this?

ps for real though, i distinctly hear the chorus of return of the mack "you lied to me...", you sure it's not just a jazzy cover? ive been to some places thatdve done really nice ones like that for classics like don't sweat the technique.

Hey hey guys. Hydeout is putting out a tribute vinyl for the 2nd anniversary of Nujabes' death. It's the Clammbon covers of Reflection Eternal and Folklore (Imaginary Folklore) and the sleeve art is beautiful as always.

http://www.hydeout-tribe.net/store_en/products/detail.php?product_id=147

It's on sale at the Eternal Soul concert but for us people who don't live in Japan online sales are live on March 9th. Remember, Hydeout/Tribe do international shipping now so you can get it directly from them.

Found a song: Thunder Island Wave by Group of Gods from the album Saudade Juju Compiled By Pandeiro. I don't think there's a way to download it online -- all of the tracks on the Saudade albums (Saudade Compiled By Pandeiro and Saudade Cocomo Compiled By Pandeiro) seem to be CD import only. Both of the other Saudade albums have some great tracks, too -- import if you can. Some of the tracks from the album can also be found on YouTube if you want to listen to them.

Here is the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zn-2S31NiNw

I have been trying to find a way to import these albums. Anyone with any advice?

toku brings the goods again. is the rest from that artist in the same vein? at the risk of quoting Yacht Rock, that shit was smooth.

ps Mdeezy - that's like my go-to track for running/long drives and shit. that bassline is so hyped.

Man Irish, how many times have I told you to check out Clams Casino's Rainforest EP? This is gonna be like the fifth time now. He's the guy who does/did all of Lil B's spaced out production. Rainforest EP is his totally instrumental ep though.
