Some very good stuff here. It looked like a fun little Steam puzzle game (which it is), but the OST ended up being the best thing about it IMO. First and fourth tracks are probably my favourites.

Sword and Sworcery for iPhone, don't own the game but own the soundtrack there.
Super Meat Boy is another one, no matter how many retries I had, never grew tired of any track.
Oh and Scott Pilgram too, only played bit of the game but picked up soundtrack.

Not sure if it's in line with your definition of "unexpected" but it should be fine since Nier is in the OP. Ghost Trick; the ost is godly.

This. So fucking this. Easily one of the best game soundtracks of all time. I never played the mod but this has had thousands of spins through my cd player (metaphorically speaking, bought it on iTunes...damn the cd for being so hard to find).

Awww yeah, glad someone else posted this. I've never even played the game, but the soundtrack is AMAZING.

Wow, this OST is really, really good. I've never played the mod, but I've read that it doesn't make that much use of the OST which is unfortunate. The right developer could craft some amazing moments/scenes alongside this stuff.

Castlevania has always had a great soundtrack over the years but I felt that Lords of Shadow did a surprisingly fantastic job of mixing it up, without this soundtrack the game would not be the same.

It was definitely worth the extra $ to get it in the LE.

Belmont Theme
Hunting Path
Waterfall
Vampire Killer

It's an excellent soundtrack and easily one of the best video game soundtracks of all time, but it did come out some time ago.

Deus HR, Xenoblade & Ghost Trick have got to be some of my favourite soundtracks that have come out in the last year. Unexpected was Touch my Katamari, which I felt had a few standout tracks. Shame I can't seem to find the menu track being played anywhere on youtube....
