Very impressive but I'm afraid I'll be dead by the time robots truly start working as intended. So far it just looks worthless, one little trip on that stairs and good bye robot.

We make spiderbots to take advantage of robots roboarachnophobia. Humans are scared of spiders, robots are scared of robot spiders.

Why do looks matter? Are there a bunch of other robots that can do this? I doubt that's the biggest thing on their mind.

Seriously, between this and the US Navy SAFFiR, I love seeing the strides in mobility we're seeing. Truly a golden age for robot development, regardless of application.

Why would a robot need to be on a treadmill? They can't gain or lose weight.

Or push ups for that matter.

I'm shocked at the initial observation, frankly. "This useless robot" is a technological marvel, even at this stage.

PETMAN/ATLAS is also being designed to test the ruggedness and durability of next-gen combat clothing and body armour (outside of uses in disaster areas that require high mobility), so being able to be as limber and manoeuvrable as a human is where it counts. Unless you were being facetious.
