Looking for some great co-op games #1

My fiance mentioned the other day that she wanted to play through some games with me. Previously we put a lot of time into the old Donkey Kong Country games in addition to the new one on Wii.

What are some similar games on 360? They don't necessarily have to be platformers, but games that have the same type of co-op are a plus.

I was thinking of getting RE5, how is the split screen co-op on that? She keeps seeing commercials for the new RE game and saying it looks like fun, but I've heard pretty bad things about that.

Split screen on RE5 is cropped, be aware of that.

This. Also Castle Crashers.

Gears of War local co-op is a lot of fun too, so are the L4D games.

I think deBlob2 has some sorta co-op component, doesn't it?

It's really hard to think of ANY co-op games on the 360 that aren't just generic shooters.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North wasn't too bad.

RE5 is still this gen's co-op king for me.

Castle Crashers is a good time sink co op.

Metal Slug 3 and Metal Slug XX are on xbla and are both good choices for what you are looking for. Both are really short but have a bunch of replay value.

I rented Hunted: The Demon's Forge on LoveFILM, played it on split-screen coop with my bro and absolutely loved it. I'd recommend going through a playthrough on it on coop, it's not the best of games but it's just great to play with a friend.

Metal Slug 3 is short? It's longer than any other entry in the series by a significant amount!

I'd say they're good run-and-guns, but as far as platformers go, go for Rayman Origins. Absolute fantastic game.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is probably your best pick: it's really nice looking, super fun and has the uncanny ability to unite both casual and more experienced gamers under the starry sky of cooperation.

RE5 is quite fun but as _dementia mentionned, the split screen is cropped.

Other than that, Left 4 Dead and Portal 2 maybe? Left 4 Dead and L4D2 can keep you busy for weeks, and Portal 2 co-op is brilliant. Also, fun.

Left 4 Dead 2. I'm not sure how active it still is on 360 but on Steam it's huge

Since you guys liked Donkey Kong I'm sure you'll like New Super Mario Bros. Wii too. It's a lot of fun in co-op, especially when your partner likes jumping on your head to get a boost while sending you crashing in a pit. :D

Dungeon Defenders. Very neat tower defense game with RPG elements (leveling up, collecting better gear). You can play it split-screen AND play online with others if you need help beating the levels.

If you're both alright with first person shooters and Diablo, I cannot recommend Borderlands enough.

Also, Castle Crashers and Trine 2.

It does but it works in a similar manner to the Super Mario Galaxy style co-op if i'm not mistaken, that is player 2 is basically a cursor.

Splinter Cell Conviction is suprisingly good. Long unique co op story and levels.

Splosion man games are great!! Really great.

New Super Mario Broa Wii if you still have a Wii.

Rayman Origins is good but only the primary player gets achievements which sucks!

As a single player game it has nothing on RE4. However the co op is amazing. It's just a really solid game that is much more satisfying when played with another buddie or partner. The game is built for co op after all. I do play it over Live though. The split screen viewing area is quite small even with my 46". I guess I'm just spoiled these days when I think back to N64 4 player days!

Anyways, RE5 is probably the best third person co-op game this gen. It's fantastic and works very well. Plus you play a guy and a gal. Should be fun for you and your fiance.
