Those shots are amazing. And what's even crazier, I remember downloading Ralph's mods back in the early EA F1 games days (maybe even GP3? not sure). He was always the go-to guy for mods. I learned that he was working for SMS when I played my first pCARS build and he was one of the AI on the track haha. I asked on the forums and Ian confirmed that he was working for them. Good for him, it's always great to see a super talented modder from the community who ends up in the industry.

Struggled to even get a time and the lap wasn't even a very good one, but I've never driven a F1 car competitively in a game before so I'm happy with it.

I had a go at this weekend challenge after getting frustrated with this car at Moravia (Brno). Somehow I always struggle with the corners on that track and when I got below the 1.54. I had enough of it, just could not get the feel for slowing down the car and get it to steer with enough speed to the apex as I wanted.

Checked this forum and was glad this weeks challenge was with the same car, not ;) . However I must say that on this track the car is much more fun to drive, corners are not as long/wide as on Brno. I did not have fraps running, but I'm down to 1:38.811 and I feel there is still some time to be found in the middle sector.

pCARS definitely looks better and it has more content for now, but I think rF2 has physics that are more realistic and better FFB modeling.

My advice is to get a Junior membership for pCARS now, buy the final release of rF2 this summer, and then decide next year if you want to buy the final version of pCARS.

It's more Moravia(Brno) than this car, just watched Mikko's 1.49 lap and do not understand why my car does not turn in like that ;) But on a track like Bologna, as I sad before, the car is fun to drive. But you are somewhat right, yes I do like GT like cars (specially older), more than (modern) formula cars.

but they do have the CAD files, of course it helps with the detail, but you still need to do most of the moddeling as imported CAD files in MAX use far to may (millions) polys, compared to 200+ K for LODX in game . Looking at Ralph's latest and almost finished texturing work, it really does look stunning.

Still sloppy, but getting that chicane right definitely helped. I really love this car - so fun to slide around in, even if sliding around is a sign that I'm going slow ;)

I did a few more laps in between some Trials Evo. Tossed away 4 tenths at the second to last corner, but whatever. That's probably my final time unless Dilly starts taunting me. Somewhat frustrated by not fully understanding how to run the chicane. Lots of first curb? Second curb? Both? None? Enter wide? Middle of the track? Exit wide? I just never quite figured it out. I threw away too many great first sectors when I got there.

Never got the gearing right either, as evidenced in the video with me chugging around in 3rd in some odd spots.

Well for time trials it's probably going to cost you some time, but eventually you'll be able to easily get other peoples "optimal" setups for each track and car.

Don't even know where to begin, heh. Dynamic day/night cycle is pretty big, lots of tracks, "improved" FFB (you might get oscillation when driving straight, but you can get rid of it mostly buy changing to values in the F1 dev menu), different lighting model and most likely big improvements in game performance.

Have to modify it. This weeks build will have a slider for those modifiers in car setup I think.

EDIT: It's actually in the controller options

"Added Tyre Force slider (default 0.5 for all controllers, 1.0f for CSW) to advanced controller panel, tweaker added to F1 Input menu. Hooked up to FFB"
